  1. Where does he have a better shot to start than here? Seriously? If he gets his butt in B'Lo tomorrow, he will be starting at least 3-4 games and quite probably at least 1-2 more. What more could he ask from a playing perspective?
  2. We'll be lucky to get a 4th considering his contract situation. If he can negotiate a long-term deal with his suitor, maybe a 3rd. I think anything better than that is a pipe dream since our counter party knows we're over a barrel. Personally, I'd be happy with a 3rd about now (barely, and not as happy as if they'd paid him and locked him up long-term instead of sitting on tens of millions in cap space).....
  3. I completely agree and thought that to myself when they announced the hire, since nothing in his background other than that explained the hire....
  4. I don't root for injuries, but that's a huge blow to them (or should be). In my estimation, after Brady, he's their most important player. I hate the guy (on the field) for some of the crap he's pulled over the years, but he's a great player, probably one of the 2-3 best NT's in the League. Off the field, believe it or not, it sounds like he does some good charitable work, so I'll give him props for that, with an asterisk (of course) for the stories of him and that booster at the U--from a story I read on that last year it sounded like Big Vince squeezed that guy for all he was worth when he was a 'Cane.... Interesting take by a Pats* fan over at their forum. May be seeing the end of an era: Originally Posted by RI Patriots fan I hate to say this but looking at the facts, this could be the last we see of Vince Wilfork in a Patriots uniform if this injury is season ending. "No way", you say.... but I'm sure you would have said the same thing about Seymour. Here are some of the facts: 1.) Wilfork has not played well this year....not at all. Maybe he was injured maybe not, but he hasn't been listed on the injury report other than "foot" and he was listed as probable. 2.) Wilfork seems to be very out of shape this year. During the 2012 season he entered the season in much better shape. This year he looks much heavier. 3.) In his career, I don't remember him ever having to rehab from a major injury. 4.) Wilfork will be 33 years old next November. 5.) According to "Over the cap", Wilfork will count $11.6 million against the cap next year. Of that, $8.0 million could be saved, if he was cut or traded. » Over the Cap- New England Patriots 2014 Salary Cap and Contracts Forget your homer-fan love for Wilfork for a second and look at this like a cold hearted Patriots executive. Wilfork will be 33 years old next season. He will be coming off a major injury during which he can't work out (at least with his legs) but he can eat. Do you see him being more explosive being a year older, coming off a major injury, and being out of shape...or less explosive? Is the Vince Wilfork of next year at 33 years old worth $8 million??? I say no....and I was thinking this before the injury. Unless he is willing to take a major paycut I don't see Wilfork playing for the Patriots....again.
  5. Seemed like two different players by half--all-Pro in the first half and rookie QB taking some lumps in the second half when Hackett's play calling went south. We all expected the second half guy this year, but the first half EJ is a big (and pleasant) surprise....
  6. Chris Brown posted that Spiller and Marrone think Spiller may be able to play Thursday, too. Here's hoping they're joined by McKelvin at least....
  7. People keep talking DROY, but why not Defensive Player of the Year, period? His stat line would warrant it, and like today, a number of his big plays have been "key". Not to harp on a point to much, but imagine if he played in NY, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Dallas or New New England? He'd certainly be getting that kind of press, wouldn't he?
  8. I disagree with most of you on the TD called back. Looked to me like he initially had it trapped against his shoulder, which to me should count as a TD. I agree on the Chandler call being correct....
  9. Very sorry to hear that--I'll say an extra prayer for him and the Berman family today....
  10. Someone please remind me of why she left--I didn't follow all of the drama at the time....
  11. Looks like Dashon didn't get the "Vince Wilfork Treatment". You remember, when Vince had like a gazillion personal fouls and fines one year (including JP's knee, falling on a defenseless Dallas Clark, poking Brandon Jacobs in the eye and a couple of others) he and Big Bob got to meet with the Commish and get a stern talking to, but no suspension (of course). Ahhh, it's good to be a Cheat*....
  12. Are you kidding? He still has value to them, so of course they'll keep him. I surmise that they only got rid of Hernandez when they did because they had folks on the inside who told them how grave his situation was and they'd rather get out in front of that then wait until he was formally charged. Speaking of the Pats*, anyone else notice that Dashon Goldson, he of many personal fouls and cheap shots (along with Suh and Brandon Merriweather, among others) got suspended this week just in time for the Pats* game?
  13. This isn't necessarily new behavior--I remember my father and I having to tell a drunk, obnoxious Bills fan to shove off after he was harassing a nice couple from WI about 15 years ago at a Bills-Packers game. Ironically, the worst I've been treated at an away game was by a Packer fan I sat next to during our butt-kicking at Lambeau a few years ago. The guy was completely hammered, more than a bit hostile (until they started kicking our arse), and just got drunker as the day wore on, sucking vodka soaked cherries. Scary part is that he was a nuclear plant operator....
  14. I noticed the same thing on the highlights shows--very little coverage, almost like our game was an afterthought. Just have a to pull a few more W's in a row together before the press starts covering us, I guess, which is fine with me. I'd prefer to fly under the radar if we can....
  15. Many thanks--and best of luck to you guys as well!
  16. Many thanks--that's what I was hoping, but these days, after things like the Vereen and Amendola "next day" injuries, it's always good to get confirmation!
  17. Folks--any words on any potential injuries? Looked like Dareus was not seriously hurt, as he came back in pretty quickly, and while Stevie was grabbing his hand on that last drive, he obviously gutted it out and finished it. Any updates on the injury front from those in WNY who can listen to local media?
  18. Don't forget Kiko Alonso in there, too. The guy had 10 tackles, a sack and pick today, along with a TFL and a QB hit. If he were playing in New England (a la Jerrod Mayo), they'd have already anointed him DROY.....
