  1. Thought I read somewhere this morning that Vollmer's out today with a concussion. Did we know this? If he is, I think it could be huge if he can't play next Monday night.
  2. Dodged one bullet
  3. Is this playing out just like Park Ave would want or what?
  4. !@#$ing a
  5. They hit Schmidt but no penalty?
  6. Come on, guys--put this away!
  7. Is that about Mario? Illness? Really?
  8. Seriously, the guy's helmet flies off his head--how does that happen without a penalty? What did he do, pull it off himself?
  9. How the !@#$ was that not a penalty?!
  10. Anyone know why Road-hack had the Bills at only $1.5m or so under next year's cap of approx. $150m even after voiding Harvin's deal?
  11. Matt Cassel blows--the folks upset about our trading him really need to watch this tape. He makes EJ look like a HOFer....
  12. The usual ridiculous "everyone else does it", "you're all just jealous" crap when no one else has had ANYWHERE near as much crap both proven and suspected about them. As two separate NFL Competition Committee members told the NYT in 2007, "it was one team, and one team only, brought before us over and over again on allegations of cheating." Guess who that was?
  13. Also remember that in Denver as he started his decline McD got caught filming an opponent's practice and the guy doing the filming was Steve Scarnecchia, Dante's son (Dante was the longtime O-line coach for the Pats*). This stuff writes itself. Birds of a crooked feather tend to flock together in New England*. As others note, it makes it hard to judge their accomplishments when they've been caught repeatedly cheating. Makes you wonder what we don't yet know.
  14. No, with our luck it will be more like the McKelvin fumblerooski game we lost the last time we played them on MNF. So close, but not able to close the deal. That can hurt worse than a blowout.
  15. Go watch and come back to me--he's not dumb by a long stretch, but was born into a pretty bad situation and made some stupid choices after he lost Cus D'Amato. (BTW, not sure what it being a Spike Lee production (if it is) has anything to do with it). Then again, I've seen young Ivy Leaguers make some of those bad choices you wrote about, too, particularly while under the influence.
  16. If you think Mike Tyson is stupid, I'd suggest you watch his one-man Broadway show from a few years back. HBO filmed it, so you should still be able to see it. Uneducated is not the same thing as stupid As for your last sentence, I've found that's usually, but not always, the case, depending on who mommy and/or daddy is.
  17. Wow--just----wow. I'll be interested to hear the reactions of the "this could never happen in a major sport" crowd. Here's another data point (to go along with the Serie A ref fixing and Tim Donaghy, among others) showing biased officiating in a major sport. My favorite quote: "“Their blood’s just as red as ours,” said Dykstra, who spent 12 years in the majors. “Some of them like women, some of them like men, some of them gamble, some of them do whatever.”" Kind of describes all of humanity in one way, shape or form, doesn't it? Also makes his later fraud convictions not that much of an aberration. I always disliked Lenny as a player, now perhaps with hindsight, I know why. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/lenny-dykstra-blackmail-umps-walks-plate-article-1.2413364
  18. Didn't someone write a book back in the '90's about the NFL, gambling and fixed games? I could have sworn I thumbed a copy at a BN or Borders bargain bin about 15 years ago. Named names and games and was 200-300 pages long. With hindsight, wish I'd ponied up for it. As my father has long advocated, they should consider lie detector tests for the referees on at least a random basis each year. If nothing else, it would make for some additional entertainment.....
