Yep, I remember Marv saying that; however my take was that they Price's days as a BB are numbered and that Reed might not be far behind.

Trust me, jz, it keeps getting better (well, most of it, anyway) for quite awhile. But 23 is pretty damn fun. Enjoy the s#it out of it. I know I did. It sure does. IM 58 retired and travel as I want or go over to RWS to talk with old friends when we are in town and have the time. 23,4,5 and 26 I was still employed by the US Navy, in charge of computer ops for the Sixth Fleet. Had a blast on active duty. Looking back it seems to me that once I hit 30 the years just flew by. The Dean is right, enjoy the s#it out of it because you never know what curveball life will throw at you. Work for what You want, Pray for what you need Advice an oldtimer gave to me, many years ago. -

BTW, what became of MarkVI? I hope nothing serious. Mark is OK, I talk to him 2-3 times a week. Mark as always has very insightful takes on the draft vs. the Bills needs. Too bad for the harassment he received from kids on this board, much the same thing that happened to me. There used to be other people besides me that had either worked for the Bills or had had extremely close connections to people at OBD, that used to shed some insight into the thinking at OBD. Some of the people that have been around here for 5-6 years, know that anything that I posted in years past always came to fruition. Unfortunately those days of sharing any info are long gone. A link to a conversation? indeed!! I have made many life-long friends thru The Stadium Wall and for that I will be forever grateful. Unfortunately some have passed on while others have faded away..... -
Hughes could slide to the third round. It happens every year with good players. One thing to keep in mind is that Hughes skill set is best suited for a cover 2 defense, so teams not employing the cover 2 would most likely shy away from drafting a CB like Hughes. Here is where TSN's has Hughes going: 15 (47) Packers Daymeion Hughes CB Cal The Packers would be quite lucky if Hughes falls to No. 47. Hughes did not run well at the Combine but did redeem himself at his on-campus workout Tuesday. Team needs: WR | RB | CB | TE | S

Here is his write-up from The Sporting News: War Room analysis Coverage skills: Consistently stays on receivers' hips in nearly all types of coverage despite lacking elite speed and explosiveness. Shows a compact and efficient backpedal, and transitions out of it quickly to close on passes in front of him in a flash. Cuts in front of receivers to make tough interceptions. Excels in most tight man-to-man situations; is most effective when keeping hands on receivers and being physical throughout routes. Reads quarterbacks well in zone coverage, closing fast to play the ball. Grade: 8.5 Run/pass recognition: Shows great instincts, a big reason for elite productivity in the pass-happy Pac-10 despite lacking elite speed and explosiveness. Does not get fooled by play-action fakes or double moves. Doesn't bite on receivers' dips and fakes in their routes. Grade: 8.5 Closing speed: Is biggest deficiency. Shows a good burst on passes in front of him but struggles to recover once losing a step in man-to-man. This will limit him from being as productive in the NFL. Grade: 6.5 Ball skills: Is outstanding; consistently breaks up passes and gets in position for interceptions. Excels with his back to the quarterback in man-to-man coverage downfield; gets head and hands turned quickly to make tough picks. Grade: 9.0 Run support: When aggressive, comes up quickly in run support to make physical tackles. Does not always work hard; sometimes can be blocked out of plays easily. Grade: 7.0 Bottom line: Hughes, also known as "Donte," has the tools to be a good NFL cornerback, and could move into the top half of the first round if able to show improved speed (run in the 4.4 range) in workouts. Hughes will start early in his NFL career and be productive. He is best suited to go to a team that plays the Tampa-2 style of defense where the cornerbacks get coverage help downfield and can focus on playing passes in front of them.

John Clayton just said on ESPN Radio...

On the other hand I can see Marv dishing out disinformation and making it 100% believable. Esp. to this twit -
Is anyone else sick of Jeremy White?
LancasterSteve replied to yall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No Art Wander, the last I heard was still alive and living in Arizona with his daughter. WGR's sports talk radio sucks for the most part. Simon used to be good when he was on Empire, but now he sounds like an airhead just like the rest of them. Same for Bulldog when he first started out on WBEN sports-talk he was informative and easy to listen to. Now its just screaming and put downs, especially by Schopp and White. As far as Schoop, what the hell is doing broadcasting sports? This is still a football town first. Yep the Sabres are doing great but to have a hundred percent negative attitude about anything concerning the Buffalo Bills as Schopp does, tops the list of why I rarely listen. And as far as any of them knowing what the heck is going on at RWS before it hits the wire - they don't. I have heard just downright misinformation or half-truths many times. -
Here is the Point Value chart http://www.theredzone.org/2005/draft/draftvaluechart.asp Bills are hoping for a 3rd but from what I hear the chances of McGahee remaining a Buffalo Bill are slim to none. There is more to it than just his lack of effort or production. Before the Travis Henry trade there was also very high expectations for a high draft pick here. Same for Moulds. Have to have a dance partner, be it a trade of a player or moving down in the draft; and that won't be determined until the Bills are on the clock and other teams see whats available. McGahee is a legend in his own mind and all the BS his agent has fed him only fans the flames. I guess there's always one GM out there that will think he can change a player; so maybe one will take the hook and gamble that he can "fix" stutter-step.....but IMHO anything more that a third is remote at this point in time.

"I can not remember ONE time all season that Nate was "burned." In fact I can not remember more than one time all season that Nate was even scored upon. Was Nate even scored on more than once all season?" Maybe once at home but even so the receiver might not have been Clement's responsibility "I challenged people to do this last year. Go to the games and try to focus on NC a good amount of the time. You will see he is just all over his receiver and limits them all game." To be fair CableLady does attend home games but so does Badol. KellytheF&BD, & MarkIV and myself, plus a few more here. Missed one home game in ten years and have in the past even worked for the Bills- FWIW I realize for the majority of posters that their only option is to watch the Bills on TV as they are out-of-town but there are a couple of prolific posters that are local that also do not attend many Bills games if at all. I tape the games I can and re-watch them later and am always surprised by what not only the camera misses but the announcers fail to mention. Many, many of the sacks by the Bills defenders which many of the young (to me (-: ) are just overly happy about are indeed "coverage sacks" Don't think for a minute that NC play against the other teams top receiver wasn't a big factor for this. Last season the defenses were switched up between man, zone and cover two with more cover two the last 6-8 games. I expect the Bills will use the cover two more this upcoming year due to the fact that pass coverage responsibilities will be more ingrained and reactionary. Another thing on the cover two is that there is a real focus on the front four with the DT's at the forefront in stopping the run. IM sure most will remember Travis Henry's long runs up the gut against us last season. We were soft up the middle at both DT and MLB and expect that both these positions will be addressed through either FA or the draft. If ML doesn't nail these two positions, expect a long season even if the Bills elect to pay Clements the big bucks and an even longer one if he departs via FA as expected and the DE's cannot put consistent pressure on the QB. Too bad ML made a rookie GM mistake and caved into Clements agents demands about not franchising NC this year in order that he sign last season. IM led to believe that it was more than a verbal promise but this is secondary info and will leave it at that. But ask yourself this: If you made a bad decision that cost your employer and had public implications; would you say I gave my word or would you say- I really screwed up and put it in writing (-: when facing the media Everything is Spin today, even from really good men like Marv Levy

How are you gonna watch the game?
LancasterSteve replied to camcool21's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Same here.....BTW are you and your better half going to come over to the P M club at halftime? -
I will hold you to that promise - are you going to the game on the 17th? 824459[/snapback] I'll be there, in fact the home opener was the first home game I have not been able to attend in over ten years and if I wasn't treasurer of my sailor's organization, I would have skipped the reunion this past September !

I promise I'll be at Nick's on the 15th.....God willing and its a no-show on the snow Do You realize that it will be FOUR WHOLE MONTHS since my last plate??? My taste buds have been going through withdrawal ever since

I was on the field that day standing about 10 feet from Marv Levy when Smerlas blocked the fieldgoal. We took turns escorting Coach Levy on and off the field and this particular day I drew the short straw. Usually I would have been up around the old E-10 section (50 yard line-lower bowl), radio in hand, out of the elements directing security. The Red Coats were brought down on the field if I remember correctly. Lot of good that accomplished All of us knew all the coaches and players and there was a mutual respect. If we said we have to MOVE NOW and get off the field they listened. This particular day we ALL ran to the tunnel. It was like the whole stadium just got poured onto the field. It happened pretty quickly and I still remember seeing the first people come over the wall on the far corner, scoreboard side. It was an extra long day for me. Usually I was able to head home 2 hours or so after the game; that day it was closer to six. I found out later that most of the arrests were for people cutting out pieces of turf, never heard of anyone getting charged with the goalposts coming down. Probably safe to say that there was 10,000 people around each goalpost when I glanced out a window of one of the offices (yes there were offices for RW, Polian the GM and coaches and staff where the M&T club is now) after taking a player up-I think it was Shane Conlan. Those were really nice years to work for the Bills. I still have have many friends from the 6 or so years I worked for the Buffalo Bills. Good people and fun times.

FYI: This year's patdown routine.
LancasterSteve replied to DieHardFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmmmmm!! We both use the same gate for the club. They must have brought in someone else when we went through. The dude gave me a thorough patdown, then said I couldn't bring in an old VHS camera bag that I had my binoculars in. Pulled out the binoculars, showed him the empty bag and still he said no-go. Wife sails through with a hand bag-they never checked-that I could fit three of my guns in. Crazy, crazy system. The jerks are checking all (OK most, except Jack of course ) the guys pretty good and it will probably turn out to be some crazed lunatic female smuggling in Anthrax or another bio agent in the joint to kill us all. This isn't about terrorism, this is about stopping people from bringing in booze and I don't even drink the stuff. This whole pat- down thing is about money. If they want any semblance of security, do like the airports, walk through metal detectors, x-ray all bags, take off your shoes (this will go over really big with a foot of snow on the ground) and have all girls strip down to their bras and panties Just f-en goofy Atlas Shrugged... the whole system is upside down....sigh -
You, my friend have a dirty mind
