Impossible at this point...no football people calling the shots except Modrak and he might be semi-retired. He only stayed on so far because Wilson asked him to. The Buffalo Bills are a ruderless ship until a true football General Manager is brought in. Wilson got burned bad by the Tom Donahoe fiasco, so I doubt he ever again reliquishes as much power to another GM but the run things by committiee has to be scraped or no GM worth his football "salt" will come here.

but the thought of a front office consisting of Guy, Modrak, and the clueless (on personnel) Russ Brandon deflates whatever hope I had for building a winner. At one time I thought that Modrak would be the talent evaluator of draftable players that the late John Butler was. Big disappointment. Guy and Brandon are both nice gents, met them both many times at the Bills Boosters meetings and if Wilson wants to keep them around in the door-knob polishing department or some such position - I have no problem with that. However in no circumstances should either of them have any more say in personnel; be that players or coaches. But, with all that said, I don't believe any changes will be made in the foreseeable future. And it is not all about money but IM sure that is a big factor (like any businessman). Ralph Wilson is too loyal to a fault. Always has been...see Harvey Johnson...not once but twice!!! Wilson is in his comfort zone with Modrak, Guy and Brandon. He is old. Most of the football people Wilson used to rely on for advice are gone. I believe that the answers that Ralph Wilson gave the media Monday were because he just doesn't have a clue at this point, of what to do. The NFL that Wilson knew is gone replaced by the Snyders and Jerry Jones'es. A cutthroat league of bottom dollar and screw that other teams. Sure Ralph Wilson wants to make a buck, but it was his love for the game itself that drove him to persue ownership of a pro football team. In the early years Wilson lost a ton of money and could have folded his football tent in Buffalo, instead he kept the new league afloat by giving the Sullivans in Boston and Davis in Olkland money they needed to keep their fanchises going. The trust in any advice that Ralph Wilson might have sought of contemporary owners has faded forever. The big question Wilson has to be asking himself is who can I ask for advice? Who can I trust? It's easy to say fire them all. The next step, the hardest for this ninety-something owner may be something he just doesn't have the energy or fire in the gut if you will to carry out and that's start over. A lot easier to do if you are in your 30' 40's or even 60's.

Your reaction to the Browns game
LancasterSteve replied to DC Tom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My Navy bud from Chi town told me this guy will "break your heart" and "IM glad you have him instead of us" and "couldn't wait for him to get canned" -
Edwards is playing for next years contract it seems to me. Maybe he thinks...high completion percentage = bg contract. Either that or he is so paralyzed by fear that he goes brain dead. More and more Edwards is looking like a Dan Darragh clone. The master at completing the ONE YARD pass to avoid the hit. He certainly is a Master at locking in and staring down his very short receiving targets, never once even glancing at any of our wideouts. Just plain pathetic QB'ing

When Should Jauron be fired?
LancasterSteve replied to YellowLinesandArmadillos's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No Ralph counts pennies when he wants to, especially with coaches. Always has. The stadium is sold out every game so far and the remaining games are almost sellouts already so what is the incentive for Wilson to pay a HC 3-4 or even 5 million bucks. Wilson has the whole coaching staff locked in cheaper than what many teams shell out for their head coach alone. I had the binocs on Wilson this last game. No emotion, just sat there, no fire like past seasons when, if Ralph Wilson didn't like what he was seeing; he would be on the phone. No more phone calls, no more RW showing more that a passing interest what's going on with the game. Sad, I have parents close to RW's age. The fire of wanting to do anything is long gone replaced by just running out the string. No Ralph Wilson isn't senile. Talked briefly with him in the Paul McGuire Club last season (this was not the first time). Ralph Wilson like any 90 year old walked slow and talked hesitantly but was cognizant. RW knows full well what is happening with his Buffalo Bills but at this stage in his life, I really doubt there will be any major changes with his team. Hope I am wrong. The whole front office needs replacing. This team is rotting from the GM on down the ladder. -
The Annual "How'd we do?" survey
LancasterSteve replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in TBD Annual Tailgate (TBDAHOT)'s Topics
Thanks Scott, I appreciate it. -
While Shawn Nelson brings more of a vertical presense, both he and Stupar need to still bulk up more to be effective blockers in the NFL. It will be interesting to watch these two as well as Fine as the season progresses.

The Annual "How'd we do?" survey
LancasterSteve replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in TBD Annual Tailgate (TBDAHOT)'s Topics
Look I know the young crowd likes it deafening loud that they loose their hearing by 30 and that's their prerogative. When its so loud that I cannot have a conversation with "Wallers" I only have a chance to talk with once a year, then it becomes a very big problem with me. When it was loud all the young crowd was hiding in the back away from the blast. Only when the band toned it down did people appear. I know, I saw all the faces peering tentatively in the direction of the band from a safe distance of about 30 feet. This was a good band and once they toned the blast down so you could at least make out the words, their music was enjoyable. I love all kinds of music and loudness doesn't make bad music any better but sure does destroy good music by a very good band. I have a very good suggestion since all those poor young souls were stuck in the back and couldn't get the full impact of the so LOUD music they so desparately crave, lets move the band to the back so those of us who want to talk football can do so without shouting!!!!! Bilzfan35 this isn't directed towards you in any respect. I could have replied in like manner to any number of posts here. -
The Bills culture of losing
LancasterSteve replied to BEAST MODE BABY!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well our Conerbacks now play in a different zip code; 10 yards off would be an improvement. "Prevent" Fewell has even out done my worst nightmares of how he might neuter this defense. Pathetic. "Awareness" to know where you are in relation to your surroundings. Something McKelvin needs a big dose of; plus a bottle of super glue. For him to come out and say that he didn't know where he was on the field is just another in the long list of dumb jock statements. He couldn't see that BIG white stripe (the one that separates the playing field from the endzone) in front of him? IM convinced that he has sawdust for brains until he proves otherwise. The late John Butler at least went after in his opinion players who had "football smarts" on top of everything else. -
The Bills culture of losing
LancasterSteve replied to BEAST MODE BABY!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This only happens if "Disappointment You every Sunday" Juron and "Prevent" Fewell are locked up every gameday. The football smarts of these two combined doesn't even make it to zero let alone a blip on the "guts" meter of playing to win. Dumb and Dumber are what we got and thanks to "Shoestring" Wilson this is what we will continue to have. -

10th Annual TBD KICK AZZ Tailgate Parking List

One Kick Azz spot for us also....Thanks Hammer -
DJ should be ashamed and embarrassed about the state of this team. The emotionless one ? the one with the monotone voice? the one where the concept of excitement is non-existent? Embarrassment is a foreign concept to those with no emotion.

Edwards needs to be benched...
LancasterSteve replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is he toast? Could be. after the beating he took in the Arizona game last season, Edwards is not the same QB. It sure looks like he is playing not to get hit, not to get hurt once again. Despite all the disinformation, Edwards is still like a rail in spite of all the work he has put in to bulk up. I believe that Trent's memory on getting hit is too good which ironically is not a trait you want when playing QB, hence the checkdowns, the dump-offs and the needless hurried throws that bounce in the turf or the passes thrown high that will get a WR injured. The NFL landscape is littered with once good quarterbacks who have lost their confidence. -

Canton Ohio ROLL CALL
LancasterSteve replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks, I wasn't aware that the times of the inductions were moved to the evening. Couldn't make Thurman's HOF induction (only one). Had my Navy reunion that week and seeing IM the treasurer, I had to show up -
Canton Ohio ROLL CALL
LancasterSteve replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So will I; going with the Bills Booster Club this time around. Hope we can meet once again. The Jim Kelly induction sure was a hot one. I hope for all of us that it isn't a steam bath once again. -
long range forecast for Canton OH
LancasterSteve replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems that way. The day Jim Kelly got inducted I got "cooked"; couldn't get enough water in me fast enough. Lucky that at least I had a hat. Many of the TBD'ers who made the trip took refuge in what little shade was provided by storage area's under the concrete bleachers, only to return to our seats for Kelly's induction. -
Happy B'Day to Bill from NYC!
LancasterSteve replied to stuckincincy's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Hope You had a good birthday my friend and wishing you many more. -
I have said it before and will say it again. That big sucking sound we hear in WNY is our tax dollars being poured into a bottomless pit in NYC. Same with our electricity rates here in WNY. Our high rates here (with Niagara Falls just a stones throw away) subsidize the low electric costs in NYC to the east and Ohio and Indiana to the west. Socialism is alive and well in NYS.

Good post Rich......I'll add another: How many times did we get called for delay of game or have to waste a timeout because the play was late getting sent in.
