You wanted it. You got it! While the MVP Award is purportedly already decided, Lamar & Josh going head to head in a ‘winner takes all’ Division Round playoff game has more meat on the bone than a brontosaurus burger!🍔 We’re slotted in the best time frame for a massive global audience (Again!) with the CBS top crew of Nance, Romo & Tracy Wolfson doing the broadcast. Thanks mostly to Josh Allen, we have become the most watched team in sports! Consequently, we MUST get him a Super Bowl championship and this season has proven to date this can happen now! Only 3 obstacles stand in our way and the Ravens are one of them. The other two are our regular season beotch -the Chiefs and the survivor in the NFC. WE’RE SO DAMN CLOSE!!🤏 This ‘24 season has been a national narrative of “Its all over for Buffalo, their window is closed and drywalled over!” But we have 1 thing no other team has! Josh Allen. All season long, from the Opening weekend through last Sunday, we watched the Bills, biting fingernails and fearing an inevitable doom. 3rd place in our Division seemed all we could hope for. Yet, mostly because of #17, we smashed the AFCE in record time before the early holiday decorators among us put up our Christmas 🎄! THEN, we defeated the Top teams in both Conferences before Allen came onto the field for just one play as we cemented the #2 seed in the AFC! To quote Jim Nance, “THIS IS STORYBOOK!” The scene now shifts back to Orchard Park where we haven’t lost all season. The mighty Ravens travel here intent on ending our dream while enhancing theirs. The Chiefs await the winner for the Conference Championship. Both these Offenses are prolific. The Ravens simply bash you in the teeth with seven 300pounders & three 250pounders. Bills are so diverse that you can’t anticipate anything with 13 different players catching TDs. We also average 4.5yrds per carry and scored 30 rushing TDs and added 32 passing TDs. But here’s what grinds me. We’re underdogs at Home. US! The team who hasn’t lost at home since KC in the Division Round LAST YEAR! 7 of our Home games this season were Blowout wins! Nevermind the MVP battle. Forget that we beat the top teams in each Conference. So what? -that the Ravens have 1 more loss. WTF?! Now I hope we embarrass them!🤬🔥 I get it. As dyed in the wool fans of the Buffalo Bills, inevitable heartbreak 💔 is our albatross. We’ve even given names to our season ending collapses. Ron Smith to the post, Fantom face mask in Cinci, Harmon drop, Wide Right, Thurman’s helmet, 13 seconds and most recently, Bass Miss. The list is long and the opportunities rare. So we’re prepared and conditioned for doom, but we remain ever hopeful of a better tomorrow. Everyone here has lost a loved one or 2 in our shared quest to raise the Lombardi trophy in Niagara Square. We carry their treasured memories in our own quest, looking forward to visiting their resting spot to share the news! So, we bundle up again or prep our easy chair today to witness the next great chance, ever hopeful! In the immortal words of Buffalo legend Tim Russert: We GOT This! GO BILLS!

OT: 1980 Our 1st ever AFC East title, from local coverage
Chandler#81 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
What’s really noticeable is there isn’t a jersey in sight in the stands. NFL didn’t market jerseys, so they weren’t available to the public. If you had one, a player gave it to you! Another amazing thing happened that season. Oilers & Raiders traded QBs in the offseason, Pastorini to Oakland, the Snake to Houston. When the Raiders played us early and we beat them in the season, we broke Dante’s leg, forcing the Raiders to turn to ‘washed up’ Jim Plunkett. ‘Plunk’ led the Raiders to a Super Bowl victory. -

The music score leaves much to be desired, but the intent is there.🤷♂️ -
Lengthy but fantastic compilation. Especially for those who followed the team way back then. Enjoy!

Would you ever Bet Against the Bills?
Chandler#81 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sure. But rarely. When your hard armed dough is on the table, you use your mind not your heart. I’m glad to say when I bet the other way, I’m usually wrong in this era. -

Our 1st Title team: 1964 Buffalo Bills
Chandler#81 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
We lost Dubenion & Glenn Bass to injury early in ‘65 and Cookie was a Bronco, though our Defense was still at Championship level. The ‘64 team was much better all around. -
On this date 31 years ago, we played the ‘RAAAIDAS’ in a bone chilling Division Round game.

Our 1st Title team: 1964 Buffalo Bills
Chandler#81 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh, my dear weathered friend. I completely disagree. ‘64 was our absolute pinnacle. Much more so than the ensuing 2 seasons where we still made the title game again, winning back to back titles in ‘65. The Browns won the NFL title and Jim Brown was at his zenith. But nobody in the NFL had a defense who could compare with ours. Again, we didn’t allow anyone to rush for a 100 yards. If EVER there was year we would have easily won a still unthought of Super Bowl, this was the year. Green Bay played Cleveland in another title game and held Brown to 50 yards rushing. -

The reason Ravens maybe the most difficult out for the Bills

Nah, Piece of Cake. We got this! -
We played a far different style of football than our pass happy, no Defense AFL brethren. Much more modeled as a NFL team at the time, with a ferocious Defense and power running Offense. At one stage in the mid 60’s, we went 17 straight games without surrendering a 100 yard runner. Still, we were underdogs at home in the Title game to the point-a-minute, high flying circus of the San Diego Chargers who had been the Darlings of the new League. Here is a trip back for you oldtimers as we currently seek another shot at a Title.
