Earlier in the season teams were killing us through the air over the middle. It seemed like there was nothing we could do to stop it. We haven't seen nearly as much of it the past few games. My sense is that Edmunds getting healthy again is a big reason for that, but what do I know.

Dude's a great player, no doubt. I've only been able to watch the first half so far, but there were at least 3 plays where nobody on the offense blocked this guy, at all. Best guy on the field, and nobody even tries to block him? And this was after a bye week to prepare for him. SMH.

By all means, fix the running game. But for the love of all that is holy please don't make me watch another run up the gut on 2nd and 10.

The defense does seem to be improving in some areas, but I still find it hard to get too excited when a team they had held to 9 points midway through the 3rd quarter ended up with 32. I mean, that’s just not good.

True, it's just that it's taken Allen a bit longer to learn things like throwing the ball away, sliding on a run, or not throwing back across his body into coverage. There were still questions about this at the beginning of the season, but he's really done a great job minimizing those things.

You know, this is not a bad idea. If someone makes a play and thinks their team needs to take a look, go down with a cramp. As long as it's not within 2 minutes of each half (you'd lose a timeout) and you don't mind having the player come out for a play due to injury, no reason it wouldn't work...

It has been Josh's weakness since the start. Get him rattled, and he starts doing crazy, dangerous things. The Seattle game was crazy, seemed like they were blitzing on every play. The nice thing is that Josh seems to be coming around. Recognizing pressure, getting rid of the ball, making defenses pay. He still tries to do too much at times, and it's what led to the 7 sacks last week, but you have to be pleased at how he has come along this year in particular with blitzes/pressure.

FWIW, Arizona's defense is ranked right below the Bills defense in terms of yards per game. Nearly identical for both run and pass. Something to think about. NFL Defensive Stats

As has been said before, the Zimmer play was a heads-up, high-effort play that was the result of good coaching and good execution, in addition to some luck. It's the kind of game-saving play that the Pats**** have been doing to us on a regular basis for years, yet they always were praised for their coaching and preparation. Luck favors the prepared.

At the time I was thinking how completely insane the Ralph would have been after that play with a full house. *Sigh*

Once again, not the point of the thread. Still, SEA was giving up an *average* of 356 passing per game this year. Good to see these guys can take advantage of that.

This is an interesting example of how our off-season expectations can differ markedly from reality. I think we all expected our defense to be at least as good as it was last year. Certain positions seemed upgraded, while others had more time in the same system and would automatically be better. None of us predicted Edmunds would regress this year, even if much of it is due to the injury. Same with Taron. Same with the offense and someone like Spain. There are always surprises, both good and bad, none of which are predictable.

I agree it's confusing. Against the Pats****, who had only one NFL caliber WR, on a blustery day, with a shaky QB, one would expect the defense to try and completely shut down the running game and force Cam to try and throw it. Seemed to have worked fairly well in the first half, as we held them to under 50 yards rushing and 6 points. Not sure what happened in the second half. I read somewhere that the Pats**** brought in a FB to lead block in the second half with strong results, but I'm still surprised it had so much impact. Bills should have sold out against the run. I guess the concerning thing would be if they did, and they still got shredded. In any case, no matter what defense we try next week, Seattle is going to shred it.

In other news... Weather for Sunday is shaping up nicely. Current forecast: Mostly Sunny, High 67, winds only 5mph. Looking forward to seeing the 6th ranked offense against the 31st ranked defense without any weather concerns...

Actually, I think this is one of the reasons our offense looked so good in Weeks 1-4. The WRs were making sick catches time after time. Not so much now.
