  1. "Players who can only take you so far." When referring to QBs, that sounds like another way of saying QBs who you design safe offensive game plans around. QBs who "don't lose" games for you, instead of QBs who can "win" games for you. I don't necessarily want a QB who we are dependent on to win, like a Marino. I just want a QB who creates opportunities (for us, that is)...someone who is more an asset than a liability...
  2. Might want to pace yourself, buddy. We have a long ways to go.
  3. Careful with that choice of words, friend...
  4. You did NOT have to mention this. I am officially freaked.
  5. You forgot to mention the firestorm of opposition that arose immediately afterward when conservative pro-family activists decried the threat that this rock-woman union would have on the concept of marriage and the family.
  6. Michael Irvin in the Hall of Fame, and no Ralph Wilson. Yep, that'll just about do it for me.
  7. Yes, but wasn't the question every week this past season 'Can Drew NOT lose games for us this year?" Sorry, much as I like Drew, I want to remember the feeling of having a QB on our team who can actually do more than just not lose games. One of the interesting things I noted while reviewing an old Bills videotape from the Kelly days is how much Kelly actually moved around, in and out of the pocket. Not only was he able to avoid the rush, but he was deadly accurate on the run. And this was a guy everybody thought of back then (in terms of scrambling ability) as a relative statue. I don't relish the thought of turning the reigns over to an inexperienced, raw guy, but I'm eager to see this team start overachieving rather than underachieving.
  8. Here's the link on ESPN.com
  9. it is really hard to take your posts seriously with an avatar like that!
  10. I'm in! My uncle and I were planning a road trip there next year for the game anyway, might as well make it a TBD affair.
  11. How about "Chanukah Central"
  12. Before you go bad-mouthing the defense much more, let's just say that the defense does a pretty fine job for the most part. I was pretty hot at the defense for screwing up the JAX game, but you have to consider that the defense held JAX to a grand total of 6 points the entire game right up until the final drive. That's pretty damn good. had the offense been able to pull their heads out of their asses any time before that, a final TD wouldn't have mattered. Same goes, to a degree, in the PIT game. Granted, the defense hadn't done an outstanding job to that point, but not bad. The defense didn't give PIT 7 points on a turnover, and the other times we gave them the ball deep in our territory, they held PIT to field goals. Again, had the offense pulled their heads out of their asses any time before that, we wouldn't have needed such a dramatic effort at the end to win it. Similar story against the Jets. I'm not going to counter the fact that we needed defensive stops late in those games and couldn't get them when it counted. The defense did really let us down at those times. All I'm saying is that if we had any semblance of offensive adeptness in any of those games, otherwise sound defensive showings wouldn't be overshadowed by the late-game deficiencies.
  13. If that thing can transmit pictures and data while floating or submersed in a propane ocean through that atmosphere and all the way back here, I'll be impressed.
  14. What if it lands right in one of those oceans?
  15. San Diego can always package picks to move up or down, or to offload picks to future years. I wouldn't wory about them, it's hardly a huge problem. New England has shown that you can stockpile lots of top picks and still make out okay. I'm sure plenty of teams will trade a bunch of 2nd and 3rd rounders for this coming draft and 1sts and 2nds from future drafts for one or more of their 1st round picks.
  16. One nice thing is that the Fox announcers called him out on it right after he did it, and mentioned what a classless act it was and they were sorry their cameras were on him as he did it.
  17. The wife saw Oceans 12 and thought it was good. Better if you've seen 11, of course. I don't think I would even attempt to see the Fockers movie.
  18. Minnesota should be creaming teams like they typically do at the beginning of a season. Culpepper and Moss are unstoppable at times. But this is precisely why Minnesota will never win anything of importance.
  19. We've got ours already. But I was just referring to the OL...
  20. Two things I've seen a lot of recently really irk me. Coaches at this level should know better. Well, it doesn't irk me that much since these are coaches of other teams doing this, but you'd think this is pretty basic stuff. 1. Going for two before the 4th quarter. Come on now, how many times does this have to happen before coaches, even coaches of playoff teams for crying out loud, figure this one out? The Jets nearly blew it by going for two at the end of the third. If they just kicked the point, then OT would not have been necessary. 2. Positioning the ball for a final FG attempt. If you're going to run a play to get a couple of yards just to set up a final FG attempt, for God's sake why make the hashmarks even an issue? Run it so the guy gets tackled in the middle of the field and give the kicker the best chance possible. Sure kickers at this level should be making these kicks regardless of the ball's position, but it's the coaches ass if he misses. Marty really blew it by running to the right just before the OT FG attempt. Notice that Herm did the opposite and ran the ball to the middle of the field right before the winning kick. These guys get paid millions...
  21. Perhaps, but about 70% of those would also like another guard and at least one tackle.
  22. That Gaughan article about Kelly was a good one today, brought back some nice memories. But that comment from Kelly really says it all: Just one quality center and a left guard. That's all I'm asking.
  23. Please stop this nonsense about Drew Brees coming in as a free agent. Brees will demand huge money based on his season performance, and we already have a high-priced #1 pick on our team waiting to get in the game. Why spend huge bucks on a guy who will, sooner or later, be the backup? Why would Brees even want to come here, knowing JP is going to take over at some point? Drew Bledsoe would be a nice insurance policy at backup if JP wins the starting spot. I don't know if Bledsoe would ever accept being a backup in his mind, but my gut tells me he won't. If that's the case, he and Travis Henry can pack up and head to some other desperate team willing to pay them to be starters. If there are any, that is.
  24. They can B word all they want, that was a clear elbow to the head and one of the dumbest things I've seen in a while...
  25. We may still be battling for a wild card spot until we prove we can handle New England. I think we'll make that stride next year, but it will always be the "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of thing.
