  1. Tippy's right...his son and I were going through some of his old memorabilia when I was back. He had some great pictures of his dad in action, a couple with him sacking Joe Namath. Very cool stuff. He also had some great pics of OJ back in the day, too.
  2. Funny you should mention that...I was just recently back in Buffalo for a few days and spent an afternoon with Tom Day's family (it was his ex-wife's birthday), and wouldn't you know it, Ernie Warlick came over for a few minutes. He still remembered me from when I was a little boy. What a great guy.
  3. remember, wax on, wax off.
  4. I've been hearing all about it in the news here. Quite an amazing thing. The crater left behind is HUGE, and I can't believe nobody died from it. What sucks is that I'm driving to visit my mother tomorrow in New Mexico, and that's the route we take. We have to go pretty far out of the way now to get around that.
  5. Burns does have the ST thing going for him, but he did miss a blitz pickup pretty badly in the scrimmage. I think it was the only play that JP got "sacked" on. That can't help.
  6. It said in the story that he's out right now...I doubt he'll play this game if there's any question about his health. I agree, though, it would be a good test for Gandy.
  7. Man, that's gotta be tough, going through all that while having to be on the air. Hopefully he'll get through it all right.
  8. Making excuses already, I see
  9. How does Don sound after that tragedy? Has he talked about it at all?
  10. Damn, if only /dev/null were here he could tell us Evolution = Picard ID = Kirk
  11. Personally, I'm in favor of letting people choose when it comes to helmets. We're dangerously short on good organs for those who need them.
  12. This is a freaking hysterical thread.
  13. If that's the case, maybe they should send him up with the next shuttle.
  14. The Sweatshop of the New Age
  15. Interesting? I suppose. Contradictory? Only to some people.
  16. I just thought it was kinda funny that someone posted a story "per TBD" on TBD.
  17. He's got four more preseason games to work it out. I wouldn't be concerned if I was a Phin fan. Besides, he's history once that rookie gets going.
  18. Idiot? That's probably the best thing he could have done for that state.
  19. Cool report...thanks!!
  20. I really enjoyed reading the article on the web site titled: "Rodgers Shreds The Bills Pass Defense" Hmm...I thought, this can't have been good. Then I read: "Rodgers threw touchdowns to wide receiver Vince Butler against Bills cornerback Lawrence Richardson..." Who? "...wide receiver Craig Bragg versus Bills cornerback Therrian Fontneot..." Who? "...and tight end Tory Humphrey against Bills cornerback Rob Lee." Who? "Toward the end of practice, he found running back Tony Fisher matched up against Wendell Hunter, a rookie linebacker and former University of California, Berkeley teammate, and hit him with a touchdown." Who? "Rodgers, however, has kept a level head regarding Thursday's performance, realizing much of his success came against Buffalo's backups." Backups? I didn't even know any of these guys were on the team.
  21. Cool...I'm up at the 'U' even as we speak.
  22. Wow, I didn't realize we had a section for "articles". There's articles there back to 1999...it was interesting flipping through the week-by-week summary of that season, all the way to that playoff nightmare in Tennessee. Even more interesting to look at the season predictions for each year.
  23. Actually, that's not entirely correct...in order to get a membership, there needs to be a person at the bar who is already a member who will "sponsor" you. So, in other words, the law technically says you can't just walk in off the street and buy a membership, you need to "know" someone who is already a member before you can buy a membership. Of course, nobody follows that law. The only way to avoid paying the membership is to go to the bar with someone who is already a member, then they can get in whoever they want for nothing.
  24. Well, that depends. I don't think so, but that just goes to show you how freakishly complicated our liquor laws are here. I've lived here 8 years and I still don't fully understand them. Anyway, here is the simple explanation: beer is sold in supermarkets and in bars and restaurants, but it's 3.2% EtOH maximum (even that is unclear, since local breweries -- yes, we have some excellent ones -- sell their stuff in markets and it clearly states 4% on the bottles). If you want the real stuff, you have to go to a state liquor store, or a bar/restaurant that requires a paid membership. Then you can pretty much get whatever you want. There is an excellent bar here in town that offers something like 150 different beers from across the globe, including some with hefty EtOH contents. Having to go to a state liquor store is sometimes a pain, but it's not as much of a rip-off as I would have thought...most wines and spirits are very inexpensive, even at these places. There are also bars/restaurants where you can get the real stuff without needing a membership, but it's not entirely clear to me why. I think it has to do with the percentage of their sales from food; if it's above a certain percentage, then they can offer whatever they want. If their sales are primarily from alcohol, then you need a membership. Or something along those lines. As complicated as it sounds, it's really not that bad. And I must say, in the 8 years that I've been here, the access to EtOH has definitely become easier. Probably can thank the Olympics for that.
  25. Not too long! Not too long! Keep going... Thanks, though...
