  1. That's one of the things I do find encouraging about this draft. I think Whittner will end up starting this year (though maybe not right away), McCargo will end up being either a starter or a heavy contributer this year, Youboty will likely end up as the nickel corner, and Simpson will probably be the eventual starter at FS. Then there is Williams, who may end up contributing heavily at DT. That sounds like a lot of potential production out of the first five picks, assuming of course that they pan out the way we hope. Which is wishful thinking, but nonetheless.
  2. True, although I think I recall reading that Ko Simpson is a little bummed that he has to play in the cold weather in Buffalo. But I think him being drafted trumps that.
  3. That is far too insightful for this place. What, have you been drinking again this morning?
  4. It's nice to see, but I still don't get his ratings of New England and New York. I find it hard to argue that we had a better overall draft than those two. Yes, we did get good players and yes, we did have a strong second day, but the Jets took two big steps to having a dominant offensive line for many years, and New England got some good people, too. At best, I'd rate us all the same.
  5. Now that is freaking funny!
  6. Too bad Colin "Douchebag" Cowherd didn't hear that. I can't stand the guy and refuse to listen to him, but I just HAD to turn the car radio on this morning just for a minute...and guess what? He started right in on how the Bills had a disaster of a draft, and spent the whole time ragging on Marv and Ralph for being old. God how I hate that guy. At least now I won't have the urge to turn him on again, ever.
  7. The only real issue I have with this draft is that we could have had the top-rated DT and the top-rated OT. Instead, we get the 2nd best S and the 3rd best DT. Then again, I don't know jack sh-- about these players. The top-rated OT ended up slipping further down than anyone expected. If we had ended up with Huff anf McCargo, I would have been very happy. As it is, we got two players to help at two positions of need, which is good, we just probably overpaid for it. If we can get a decent OL guy in the third, I'll be satisfied.
  8. ESPN Radio discussed it briefly and their conclusion was about $16 mill.
  9. Ah, that Fred. What an actor!
  10. Are you kidding me? All this idle speculation sure beats the killer mob mentality that will pervade this place after the draft is over. "Fire Marv!"
  11. KHAN!!!!!!!! Or, on a lighter note, Christopher Walken's awesome monologue to Bruce Willis (as a child) in Pulp Fiction, describing carrying the watch up his a$$.
  12. What the hell, might as well just start over.
  13. Nice one!
  14. Thanks for reminding me. Please tell me we draft at least TWO guards this weekend.
  15. Did the game start yet? What'd I miss?
  16. I'm sure they're all mad at ESPN, too, for showing it what...6 times?
  17. Somehow I knew you guys could turn that into a negative.
  18. I've heard time and again that players -- current, past, even those on other teams -- just think the world of this guy. How many different players have talked about how they would love to play for this guy? I've been quite impressed at the amount of loyalty he seems to inspire in players. Can anyone recall hearing the same about Mularkey? Before or after he was in Buffalo?
  19. I know, since when was the injury to Edwards ever considered a "key" defensive injury? Somehow I doubt we would have performed any differently.
  20. Are you seriously trying to tell people to not B word after the draft is over and we haven't drafted 10 new starters?
  21. I officially hate ESPN now. I had to leave the house after the first period and didn't get back in my car until well after the game had ended. Turned on ESPN Radio to find out the final score during one of their 20-minute Updates...all I got was basketball scores, frigging baseball scores (?!?), and some Nascar result. Not even a whiff of hockey scores. Glad I don't have much need for radio.
  22. What TE? It's an interesting concept, and it would probably work in a system where the QB was an intelligent, quick thinker who could pick the right open receiver on the play. I wonder if Losman is really up to the task. I think he throws a nice long ball (Miami, KC), but his quick decision-making is still up in the air, and I think defenses can still take advantage of that. Like Tags said, I think our success hinges more on the right guy at the QB position. A good O-line couldn't hurt, though.
  23. He's probably just saying that because of the video up on BB.com today of Marv and Modrak talking draft picks. Someone in the media asked Modrak to comment on Bunkley, so he did. Clayton probably picked that up as an indication that he's the guy we want. Crack reporter, that guy.
  24. I can think of many examples of movie translations that failed to capture that kind of writing...Dune and Hitchhiker's Guide come to mind...but I wonder if there are any good examples where that style of writing is done well on the big screen?
