  1. I always wondered what happened last year... Week 1 9/9: Buffalo Bills at New York L Week 2 9/16 Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills W Week 3 9/23: Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns W Week 4 9/30: New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills L Week 5 10/07: Buffalo Bills at San Francisco 49ers L Week 6 10/14: Buffalo Bills at Arizona Cardinals L Week 7 10/21: Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills W Week 8: BYE Week 9: 11/04 Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans L Week 10: 11/11 Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots L Week 11: 11/15 (Thurs) Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills W Week 12: 11/25 Buffalo Bills at Indianapolis Colts W Week 13: 12/02 Jacksonville Jaguars at Buffalo Bills W Week 14: 12/09 St. Louis Rams at Buffalo Bills W Week 15: 12/16 Seattle Seahawks at Buffalo Bills W Week 16: 12/23 Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins W Week 17: 12/30 New York Jets at Buffalo Bills W Things will be looking bleak after we get swept by the Pats*, but then the Bills go on a tear to finish out at 10-6.
  2. Even Donald Jones looked all-pro against them in the first game last year.
  3. They also had a 120 rating vs. Williams. Just sayin'.
  4. And they also had a 120 rating against Williams.
  5. I guess you didn't see me man up about it in the actual Florence thread, but thanks for being a d_bag about it.
  6. Stats are good for some things, but perhaps the kindest way to put it is that they only tell a small part of the whole story. Many, many factors go into the overall evaluation of a player at any position. This is one factor that suggests he wasn't a top corner, but nobody is arguing that. And I wouldn't use it as the sole or even primary gauge of a CBs worthiness.
  7. Well, I'll have to man up because I thought there was no way we let Florence go this season and said it here many times. I was wrong. I don't think Florence was the best corner on the team last year, but I also don't think he was the worst. He was steady, screwed up now and then, and took penalties at inopportune times (almost always on 3rd and long, it seemed). But he had a veteran leadership presence on the team, something I thought would be valuable this year as they bring the young guys along. McGee can help with that as well, but he's still recovering from an injury and who knows how long he'll last. Florence, to me, was your basic steady but not spectacular corner who you could rely on for a few good plays and a few boneheaded plays every game. He had the advantage over others because he didn't totally suck (McKelvin) and he didn't get hurt (McGee). I see the reason for the move as we transition to faster, younger players with more upside, I just didn't think it would happen until next year. That's okay, though -- things move fast in the NFL now, and the coaches must really think the improved pass rush will help the younger guys out. It still sucks because I liked having him on the team. And I've watched that INT-TD against the Pats* over and over again because it was AWESOME.
  8. The New Oxford American Dictionary would disagree with that.
  9. That is just messed up Okay, it's no Muhammad Ali standing over Sonny Liston, but that is some violent ****.
  10. Seriously? I can't see any possible scenario where Rinehart gets the boot. He played well when called upon, and he's versatile. Jasper hasn't done a damn thing, so unless he suddenly emerges as a viable talent, he gets the PS again. As for Asper, he's a project, and I imagine he'll likely end up on the PS as well, unless there are injuries or he amazes everyone in camp. Brown is the guy I'm not sure about. But if they go with 9 OL it will likely be the five starters, Glenn, Rinehart, Sanders, and either Brown or Asper.
  11. I don't know how you define production, but Florence is a good, veteran CB who picked off a couple of passes last year including a key one against the Pats*. Nix and Gailey repeatedly say you can't have enough CBs, and Florence has been a steady presence on this defense. His experience and leadership will be extremely valuable for our crop of CBs, who (besides McGee) are all very young and/or inexperienced (or, in the case of McKelvin, just plain awful). I just don't see them getting rid of him when they say they need lots of CBs, McGee is too unreliable over the course of a season, and the rest of them are still very raw. I'm reasonably certain he would start the season, but as you say, by the end of the season I wouldn't be surprised if his spot was given to someone else.
  12. I wouldn't mind seeing Volek come in as a FA backup. He's got some game left, and I'd feel better about him coming off the bench than Thigpen. You never know, there may be that San Diego connection...
  13. Anyone who thinks Florence gets cut this year is completely insane. Won't happen. And for good reason.
  14. Agreed -- it's going to be tough enough to find spots for these draft picks. It's been a long time since I've seen a Bills roster that is so unfriendly to UDFAs, which is a good thing. I'm not even sure we need a big WR -- we need a fast one.
  15. Pretty nice summary, thanks for the good read. Can't say I disagree with any of it.
  16. It's pretty interesting that there don't seem to be many spots open on this roster, even for a team than went 6-10 and finished last in their division. I agree with others that we probably won't keep five RBs, and I'd probably list Scott as a S first. I'm not sure I see Asper, Eddins, and Brooks making the final 53 -- probably PS for those guys. In their place, I would probably keep Moats and Carrington. I'm not a McKelvin fan, but he might also stick around one more year. It probably depends on how comfortable the coaches are with a rookie (Brooks). I'm curious to see if Clowney can make the team, too -- and who would get cut because of it (probably between him and Hagan). Not much room for any UDFAs on this roster, unless someone plays lights out.
  17. Surely, you can't be serious. Hyperbole, anyone?
  18. ...when Goodell steps to the podium, he announces the Bills pick as: 1. Gilmore 2. Barron 3. Kuechly 4. Floyd 5. any LT other than Kalil 6. a trade up for Kalil 7. Tannehill Personally, mine are: 1. Satisfied, but not terribly excited. 2. Satisfied, and a little excited. 3. Pretty happy. 4. Satisfied, and a little excited. 5. Hmm, not too sure, concerned he won't live up to the pick. 6. Not too happy that we gave away picks, but excited to have a really solid OL. 7. I'd !@#$ing flip out. I guess I'm more comfortable with the defensive options at #10 than the offensive options.
  19. A cornerback?!? Another !@#$ing first round cornerback??!?
  20. Seriously? So far, Buddy has been fairly open about things, but has he really said anything that would lead you to believe which player they will take? That's the amazing thing about this -- Buddy has said numerous things about the draft that all sound honest and straightforward, but at the same time nobody here has any clue which player or position we're going to take at #10. Take the talk about LT -- he has talked about how comfortable they are with Hairston and how they believe they can win with him. That made me think there's no way they're going to go LT with the #10 pick -- probably round 2 or 3. Then he talks about how the LT position is more important than WR, and how most great LTs are taken high in the first round. Nothing there is specifically misleading, but in the end I have absolutely no idea if they're going to draft an LT at #10 or not. Really, it comes down to this: Who's available, and who the Bills really like. if there's a player available that they think is awesome when they're on the clock, they'll take him, no matter what position he plays. (Hopefully not RB, but you never know.) At this point, we have absolutely no idea who it will be. Bravo, Buddy.
