    • Spector looking like he belonged.
    • Edwards and Bishop together in game action. Each with outstanding pass breakups.
    • The Fins RT lined up across Von in the 2nd half called for a false start. Von is back.
    • The number 46 on the jersey of the guy heading to the house with the pick-6. ("No way!")
    • Hill and Waddle on the bench in the second half. With their offense on the field. Just like last year.
    • Mitch Trubisky on the field in the second half.
    • Domination in the white-on-blues. Love that combo.

There were 2 plays that are still in my head. Josh took a couple of shots:

one to MVS, where he was past the single defender but the throw was off and underthrown. If on target it was a sure TD.

the other was to Coleman who was one on one but “covered” it was a jump ball / contested catch that Keon did not make. This was what we were hoping that we would see continue from training camp - that he would out wrestle/ block out defenders and make catches.

was sorry to see that both of those didn’t work out.

maybe in the all 22, some more analysis of the passing game could reveal some more “almost” plays that could have turned the deep passing into more

The one to Coleman wasn't his fault, at least by my eye. Josh didn't put the ball up high enough for it to really be a jump ball. It was too low and in front of him, and the defender could easily come over the top to make the play. I don't fault Coleman for that one.

I almost feel bad for the Dolphin fans...all 50 of them.

I mean it's not even a rivalry anymore. To be a rivalry you actually have to win games against the other team. They are 1-12 against us in their last 13. The one game they won we out gained them by almost 300 yards and lost because half the team was injured/out with heat stroke by the 4th quarter and still almost won. Average margin of victory during that streak is 15 points for the Bills so the games typically aren't close either.

It's like I always say...they are Little Brother...we whip their asses, they go beat up on their friends for a while then come back talking tough about how they are going to kick out ass and then we beat them down again to put them back in their place and let them know who is still the Beasts of the AFC East

Sleeping on the Bills then you way off...

Talk is cheap, meet us in the playoffs.

Endless, humiliating payback for the entire 1970s is perfectly fine with me.

    I'd go with 90+.

There were a couple times he won his rep and had a chance to plant hard and close then sort of stutter-stepped it instead; probably just being extra cautious with the game in hand but it felt like he's still thinking about it just a little.

I was about to say this as well. He’s doing well, but not fully trusting it yet.

I remember a SI cover with a bunch of Bills players (Conlan, Talley, others) crushing Jay Schroeder in the AFC Championship game.  Different context, but this pic has some of those elements. Cover-worthy.  Great stuff.

I remember it well, too. From 1991.

Not to be that guy, but this is the picture that says everything about Josh Allen. Two guys on the ground, a flag on the ground from Josh throwing a defender by the facemask, one defender looking in disbelief, stiff arming the best defensive player in the league, all with a huge grin on his face.

The dude as a mother ***** animal and I ***** love him.

Scored 34 but still didn’t like Brady’s coaching. Way too any penalties (I know that’s prob on the players but still th oline wasn’t good). He didn’t get Kinkaid the ball, no misdirection runs (end arounds to Samuel??) and when the run is averaging 3.9 yards per carry vs 10 yards per pass attempt, you don’t run the ball 8 more times than you pass. Conservarive Play along on the last drive could have easily lot them the game. You play to win, not to not lose.

We ran the ball extremely well. Running effectively is what often helps open things up for the passing game. When the other team knows you stick to the run, and can run it well, it brings the safeties up, which helps the passing game. Just because you don’t get as many yards per play rushing as you do passing doesn’t mean it’s not a good strategy to stick to the run.

  6. Not really surprising that there are so many varying opinions on Lamar.

He's a great athlete who can make plays that most other players can't make. He'll lead an offense to a lot of yards, points, and wins. That alone makes him a really good QB, seems hard to doubt that.

Then again, the impression I got watching that game is that Lamar still doesn't have top-level passing skills. He's definitely good, but his instinct is to trust his legs more than his arm. When receivers weren't immediately available, he bailed and went with his legs. More often than not, that works out for him and the offense, and he's incredibly hard to defend. But at the same time, it puts his weaknesses as a passer on full display. I'll just note that he has *weaknesses* (as do most QBs), not that he is weak as a passer.

One of the qualities that is frequently described about Josh and that makes him an effective passer is that, when he's scrambling around the backfield, he always has his eyes down the field looking for a receiver. And he'll often make a spectacular throw and play when he does that. That highlights his strengths as a passer. He's also a great runner, but at this point in his career he's less likely to bail and trust his legs more than his arms—something that Lamar still does.

They're both excellent QBs who will lead their teams to great stats and victories, I think this game just reinforced that Josh, to me, is a much better passer and decision-maker (even though they both sometimes still make bone-headed decisions).

I went to the last preseason game this year (with two daughters and four grandchildren).

Most people sat because it was a practice game and there were a LOT of kids.

Some foolish people were *obsessed* with starting a "wave" in the second half, most likely out of boredom.

    * The wave is about as current as dialup internet

    AND

    * You do NOT do the wave when the Bills have the ball!

I explained this to the grandchildren so they grow up informed.

The wave was going in the Bears preseason game, too. Actually went around quite a few times, I was impressed.

It's not the Achilles heel of the defense because we have bigger more important issues, perhaps in order:

    1) LB

    2) CB

    3t) depth across the board

    3t) safety

McDermott struggled to adjust the defense with injuries last year, I have to believe this is going to remain an issue in 2024. Dorian Williams really has to step up.

CB is hoping Douglas maintains a starting form, Bendord can play 93.7% of the season, Elam makes a jump in year 3, Jamarcus Ingram can be the #2 if needed. One injury away from being *****.

DT, DE, Nickel, we don't have depth. Nickel is hard to have depth, sure. But this defense relies heavily on it and a special instinctive one at that. Rousseau is a legit starter, AJE can play, Miller is toast. Jones is beat up, Oliver is damn good; beyond those two we have nothing to get to the QB.

This will be a great year for McDermott to prove something. His scheme will be pinned upon someone else, however. Regardless, can he and this team cover up enough blemishes on defense?

What's equally depressing is nothing was done on offense to raise the bar, either.

Actually, I think McD did a respectable, if not impressive, job last year given the incredible number of injuries, many at key positions. It wasn't pretty at times, but I think a lot of other coaches would have done worse with that situation.

According to @Kirby Jackson on April 10 (p. 50 in this topic) there are 450 Founders Seats and 5,500 East Club seats. Not sure if these clubs are combined in the above Channel 2 news report so it appeats that either 61% or 65% of club seats are sold. I am not counting Field Clubs in the total.

Why not? Those would presumably be included in the Bills numbers.

  10. At this point this is a little like trying to argue who was the better DE, Bruce or Reggie White. Both were awesome, had different stats in different systems. At that point, who cares who is a tiny bit "better" than the other? They were both awesome, game changers.
