Game of Thrones Part Deax: The Readers Thread
Rubes replied to Kevin's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've heard something like that, but who outside of Quiet Isle even knows Sandor is still around, or where he is? -
Love that show. Saw him live on stage in Pheonix last year, he was awesome.

Game of Thrones Part Deax: The Readers Thread

Those are some pretty good ones. I do believe Jon is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, as there seem to be too many hints in this direction. I also believe Sandor may be alive on the Quiet Isle, but it's hard to know why GRRM would have wanted that. Jojen does make it to the cave alive in the books. Not sure why they wanted to kill him off in the show, although I think I read that the writers felt they needed to sacrifice someone in that scene given how many undead were running around hacking away at people. Jojen's purpose was to make sure Bran made it to the Three-Eyed Crow, so his job was considered complete. -

Only if they forego punctuation and sentence structure. -
I can't imagine how many EMTs they would have needed on hand to rescue all the drunk people choking on the bones as they fall from the 300 level to the 200 level.

Seemed like he tracked it and adjusted pretty nicely on that floater from EJ in the second Jets game. -

What's interesting is if you look at the timing of the book releases and the timing of the show releases. The first season of the TV show started and finished in 2011, basically covering Book 1. That was right before the release the same year of Book 5. It took 6 years to write and release that book. GRRM had to know that they would catch up to him and pass him. I just wonder what he thought about that. -

I've heard that as well, but I'm not sure if they've been given the full green light to move ahead of the books just yet. I think it's probably in everyone's best interest not to proceed too quickly, but you never know. My guess is that they'll proceed slowly enough to let Book 6 come out before the TV show ventures into its material, and then pass by it in a couple of years since they won't want to wait years and years for Book 7. -

One would think that the writer/directors need to extend things out a few years, if possible, while George keeps ahead of them as long as he can. If that's the case, I would expect to see the Dorne storyline with the Martells, Tyrion's adventures across the sea with the Targaryen boy, and hopefully the Ironborn storyline with Euron and Victarion. Cersei and Arya should keep them busy for at least another season as well. I'd say they probably have enough material for two more seasons right now, depending on how much they string it out. If George can come out with Book 6 by the end of this year/beginning of next year, I expect that would extend the show another couple of seasons beyond that. Still not enough to account for Book 7, unless George has enough material right now for more than one book. I doubt that, though. I have no idea what they're going to do in the TV show with Bran and Sansa, however, since both of those storylines are near the end. I can't imagine we'll see much of them the next season or two, unless they decide to push ahead of George with their storylines. Not sure I see that happening, not yet at least. As for the Horn of Joramun, I believe Mance has it when Jon encountered him beyond the Wall, before Stannis showed up. He offered it in exchange for safe passage through the Wall. If not, Tormund was supposed to blow it and bring down the Wall. -
What if American football used soccer-style rules?

This has always been my #1 thing about soccer. Plus, you should never trust a game where the clock counts up instead of down. -
RD3, Pick #73: Preston Brown ILB, Louisville

Also, don't forget Spikes is on a one-year deal. If he tears it up, he'll want a boatload of money next year. Maybe we pay, maybe not. Or maybe he struggles. Either way, Brown gets a year to get comfortable in this defense, and possibly has the talent to replace Spikes either because he wants too much money, or he doesn't live up to standards. -
Bad drop by Stevie, but holy turnstile, did Brown even try to stop that rusher? Cheese n crackers, that guy really sucked.

I think every thread needs its own "I said this XX years ago and got flamed for it!" post.

I feel like this every year it seems, but I do see a lot of hope for the team this season. Many reasons to think so.

Yep. Also thought it was interesting that the quotes are that it's Pegula and his wife that are interested, not just Pegula himself. -

Count me in the group that doesn't care a whole lot about who buys the franchise, as long as they keep the thing in Buffalo. So yeah, this is great news. Sorry if this was asked elsewhere, but do Pegula or Golisano have kids? I mean, heirs? -

Those anesthesiologists are trouble, I tell you. One of the things they try to teach you when you start residency is to never, ever prescribe medications for friends and family members outside of the office, no matter who it is or what it is. Somehow it will come back and bite you in the ass. It's difficult to turn down your spouse or good friend, but you'll be glad you did. They never did teach us about sexting, though... -

That might work, but I wonder if that's too much of an advancement of the Brienne/Pod story. -

That was just the first day of battle, still many thousands of wildlings left. I thought they generally did a great job with the battle. Stannis will show up in the last episode to save the day, as expected. One thing I don't remember -- does Jon go beyond the Wall before the war is over? Not sure exactly where they're going with Arya/Hound, although they've set things up with his festering neck wound. I think the last episode will feature four major events -- the Stannis rescue, the Hound's "death", and they have to include Tyrion's revenge. The big question...do they reveal the fate of Catelyn to leave everyone hanging at the very end? -
My stepfather was in the British Navy during D-day, and drove one of the landing crafts at Juno beach. We were set to go to the 70th reunion in Normandy (right now), but he fell last September, broke his hip, and ended up passing away shortly thereafter. He was 92. He would have really liked that.
