  1. One of the issues to bear in mind is that most teams know we're looking hard at WR in the 1st round, so if any of those 2nd-tier guys slip into the 20s, other interested teams will be looking to leapfrog us. Thinking any of them would drop to us at 28 is probably a very risky move. That's why I agree with @Alphadawg7 that if any of them make it to the 20s, we'll probably make a small move up to get one of them.
  2. For those of you that read the Buffalo News, there is a good article there today about the moves Beane could make to create up to $60 million in cap space. Pretty reasonable set of moves presented, nothing dramatic, and allows the team to stand pat on Diggs and Miller.
  3. Perhaps, but I also have PTSD from watching opposing teams run all over us and our DL going missing at key moments.
  4. Not to be picky, but to clarify: salary money, as far as I understand it, is only charged to the cap during the year that the salary is earned (ie, when the player plays). Salary is basically for playing time; bonuses are extra and don’t have to be counted in the year the player plays—they are spread out over the life of the contract. So you don’t put salary money into void years, because the player is not playing during the void years. Void years are only for bonus money, and for the purpose of spreading out the bonus money over more years, lessening each year’s cap hit but extending the cap hit over more years. This is one reason you often hear salary money being converted into bonus money—it lowers the salary cap hit for that year, so that more of the player’s earnings is bonus money, which can then be spread out over more years. Adding void years allows you to then spread it out over even more years.
  5. You are nothing if not consistent.
  6. A void year is just an extra year added on to a contract that has no salary associated with it. It allows the bonus money to be spread out over more years, to lessen the immediate impact on the cap, but extending the spread out cap hit into the future. Hope I got that right...
  7. Is it your goal to get the JA grocery bags into as many threads as possible?
  8. Unpopular? Bills really screwed the pooch by trading the Mahomes pick. Not because I don't like Josh...I absolutely *love* Josh and I don't want anyone else at QB for us. But passing on Mahomes and gifting him to the Chiefs not only means they passed on the best QB of this generation, but also gifted him to an AFC rival that will keep us out of the Super Bowl for the entirety of his career. Nevertheless, I still love having Josh as our QB, despite the implications.
  9. Someone needs to throw another sacrifice into the pit...
  10. The problem with a system like this is that the different colors are not exclusive enough. Someone can be good and an age/injury concern at the same time. Someone can be young and unproven and also good.
  11. I think you’re right about Tre. It’s tough, because we all love him and how he has been a great rep for the team. But if you take emotion out of it, keeping him around doesn’t make a lot of sense for the future of the team. Coming back from an Achilles injury is not easy. It takes a lot of time, and his chances of getting back to his old level of play are not good. Especially when you consider his position is one that requires top speed and cutting ability, neither of which he’ll likely have back anytime soon. Certainly not likely next season. If the Bills weren’t in such terrible cap shape, then maybe I can see them working something out. Given the way things are, I just don’t see it. And that sucks.
  12. I can't stand hearing the Shout song. I mean, I like hearing it because it means we scored, but yeah, I can't stand listening to it.
  13. I came to post my response, then I found yours, which is exactly how I feel.
  14. I agree, I would just add that the special teams in general needs to get their ***** straight, not just Bass.
  15. I mean, it's not like he wasn't mentioned on the first page or anything... 😉
  16. There are different kinds of prostate cancer. Most are slow growing, and you'll die of something else before you die of that. A small percentage are very aggressive, and very nasty. I still find it hard to believe that OJ once ran for 273 yards himself in a single game on Thanksgiving against the Lions...and the Bills somehow managed to lose the game.
  17. Most disappointing, sure. But not the worst, not by a long shot.
  18. Fun to read article from SportsDrop on each NFL team's best and worst QBs. Just remember, this is the guy our current coach picked to start at one point. Absolutely incredible how this guy ***** the bed when he got the big chance. There have been plenty of really bad QBs for the Bills over the years, but it's hard to argue with just how bad Peterman was when he took the field. Others you would argue were worse?
  19. Honestly, me too. I keep thinking that, if they had converted that first down after the two-minute warning, forced KC to use their timeouts, and then scored a TD with seconds remaining, we would have been hailing that final drive as masterful and the overall strategy of beating KC as perfect. Sigh.
  20. Good stuff, thanks. In the Buffalo News story today, Allen admits the ending of the Chiefs game is going to haunt him all offseason. 😟
  21. I have to say, he had the quietest "3rd in the league in yards from scrimmage" year I can recall. I wouldn't have guessed it after watching the season.
  22. Easy perhaps, but still nicely done.
  23. Seriously...all it says is that Tua himself is expecting it. Of course he would!
  24. Yep, the only one I got to attend. Bills started by blocking a Dallas punt, got the ball deep in Dallas territory, and scored a TD on the ensuing drive. They actually were leading in that game, 7-0.
  25. Love the writeups, @corta765. You have a good overall perspective on the conference.
