I'm sure the extension is Beane's way to increase our cap space this year in exchange for more $$ in future years.

Since everyone around here seems to be in a foul mood I expect this will go over super well.

Not really surprising that there are so many varying opinions on Lamar. He's a great athlete who can make plays that most other players can't make. He'll lead an offense to a lot of yards, points, and wins. That alone makes him a really good QB, seems hard to doubt that. Then again, the impression I got watching that game is that Lamar still doesn't have top-level passing skills. He's definitely good, but his instinct is to trust his legs more than his arm. When receivers weren't immediately available, he bailed and went with his legs. More often than not, that works out for him and the offense, and he's incredibly hard to defend. But at the same time, it puts his weaknesses as a passer on full display. I'll just note that he has *weaknesses* (as do most QBs), not that he is weak as a passer. One of the qualities that is frequently described about Josh and that makes him an effective passer is that, when he's scrambling around the backfield, he always has his eyes down the field looking for a receiver. And he'll often make a spectacular throw and play when he does that. That highlights his strengths as a passer. He's also a great runner, but at this point in his career he's less likely to bail and trust his legs more than his arms—something that Lamar still does. They're both excellent QBs who will lead their teams to great stats and victories, I think this game just reinforced that Josh, to me, is a much better passer and decision-maker (even though they both sometimes still make bone-headed decisions).

Imagine being worth more than $5 billion and still being near the bottom of the list. 😲

The wave was going in the Bears preseason game, too. Actually went around quite a few times, I was impressed.

Actually, I think McD did a respectable, if not impressive, job last year given the incredible number of injuries, many at key positions. It wasn't pretty at times, but I think a lot of other coaches would have done worse with that situation.

You will be. It takes time for waivers and claims to be processed and cleared. Then people start signing contracts. They're starting to trickle in already. Be patient.

At this point this is a little like trying to argue who was the better DE, Bruce or Reggie White. Both were awesome, had different stats in different systems. At that point, who cares who is a tiny bit "better" than the other? They were both awesome, game changers.

Isn't that true for just about any position? Safeties have multiple responsibilities in the run and pass game. I'm mostly looking to see things like tackling (eg, missed tackles), angles (eg, poor angles), closing speed, shedding blocks, discipline, things like that. All can be evaluated to some extent, whether the offense is running or passing.

That was one of the two I listened to. Not much mention at all.

Safety is and has been one of our biggest concerns going into this season. After the Steelers game, I've read or listened to a couple of All-22 reviews, and neither one made any mention of the safety play. Perhaps that's a good thing (no concerning errors?), but I'd still expect to see a lot of focus on their play, but haven't. Anyone know of an All-22 review that mentions anything about how our safeties looked?

Well, I did hedge by saying "doesn't put a lot of trust" rather than "no trust". He does to some extent, though in some cases (Williams) due to necessity. I don't think it's a stretch to say he despises mental errors, which rookies are more likely to make, and they have to prove their discipline and mental toughness before they get a big role. Andreessen looked good for one game. He's going to have to show a lot more for him to overtake Williams and, likely, others. He might do it eventually, sure, but he's got a decent road ahead before that happens.

I was thinking maybe the next John Holocek. But seriously, he had one (admittedly) solid game. From the sound of it here you'd think the guy is ready to make the Pro Bowl. McDermott famously doesn't put a lot of trust in rookies, so this guy really making the 53 and contributing is still a long shot. He would be a great candidate for the PS, with the expectation that he push for a spot next year. We'll see what happens in the Carolina game.

FWIW...Haven't searched this thread, but also need to bear in mind that a player is no longer eligible for the practice squad if he is on the 53-man roster for more than 6 games in a season. So if the Bills keep him as a backup and make him active for game days, by the time Milano comes back he may no longer be able to be stashed on the PS. At least I think that's the case...

Same here. I’ll be 60 when the new stadium opens. Sitting during a game for 3+ hours becomes more important!

I agree. I’m worried about how this will affect game days. Too many people in Buffalo that go to games now just can’t afford those prices. That to me is much more concerning than the PSLs.
