  1. Hey Mike Riley, thanks for nothing. It's not the CFL. Every game counts. Boise St. 42 - Oregon St. 14 ? How do you think Oregon feels now having scheduled another mid major landmine on the road in Fresno St. ? Oh well, still a chance for California to hold serve versus the Big Ten. Or for Arizona and Washington to shock the world against the SEC and Big Twelve. Apologies from the Pac 10 for diminishing its reputation once again. .
  2. Am I nuts ? Did the show have a recipe segment ? I tuned in late and didn't know what in hell was going on. .
  3. Another would be that he is more ready and able to do the immediate backup job. It would be interesting to see who they would turn to should J. P. be injured for a long stretch. HORRIFYING but interesting. .
  4. And they treat them like WINES. They don't rate them on how a half a case affects your lower intestines. The Genesee Creamers Rugby Football Club had a nice scam back in the day -- complimentary kegs of GCA with their Dead Ants Tourney registration fee. Sunday morning games were not easy on the tourists. .
  5. Interesting. Like Larry Brown putting his bball teams in a position to struggle so as to get their attention. My wishful thinking file is filling up fast. .
  6. Count me in. Elsewhere 'twas Tuesday that had the over under for Pats punts as 2 . How about the over under on Pats field goals ? If it's around 4, it might not be such a grim day. Bend but don't break. Score. I've seen crazier things happen. .
  7. I'm not so sure that this year is a write-off. The job is not a mystery for Jauron. Is this team really so different than the 2004 team? Don't answer that. I'm just saying that a steady hand might make last year an abberation. .
  8. Not being horrible might be enough. I expect that crazy, young energy and gap shooting (for lack of a better term) should get them some 2nd an 12's, 3'rd and 8's, and give them a chance to get off the field. I won't miss big Sam catching blockers a yard off the line of scrimmage. If the rotation can hang for four quarters it might be fun weekend.
  9. Just be thankful. Being a Bills fan is like finding money in the street compared to a lot of NFL cities. .
  10. And no mention of Yoda. A lot of things to like about this year. .
  11. You WERE'NT fooling about this WERE you DJ ? Cover 2 is Coy Wire's ticket to the Pro Bowl.
  12. Sorry for becoming a broken record on this issue. Modrak and company remain from the Donahoe era. The King is dead, long live the King. I would feel much more comfortable about Pennington and/or Butler being one injury away from starting if the likes of Mcfarland, Sobieski and Geisinger had turned out to be keepers from similar draft positions. So pray for health (and kill me with a hammer if i write the name Sobieski ever again).
  13. Must win talk is A-OK. Much better than the must'nt win at Cincinnati. May those days never return.
  14. What the -- what happened to 19-0 ?
  15. Hey, the Huskies looked at him at DL. And he was MEAN. In 2002 anyway... Letters to the Dawgman I love the interweb.
  16. Missed the game but heard the Seminole broadcaster call the field goal on ESPN radio overnight. Took six seconds to confirm that it was good. Paraphasing, " What is it with these ACC officials and their slow signals ? Don't they know what we've been through around here ? Classic.
  17. Wasn't Thomas through here a year ago before signing with Dallas ? He would have been a dodgy signing then and now we don't see stories about rehabilitation or much talk about his expected durability. It is a short career at that position and he is now a pretty important piece of a rebuilding team. The optics of Thomas for Gates bothers me but in Jauron I trust.... .
  18. +360 ? That places the spread in the vicinity of 12 if I remember correctly. Either a good price or I am seriously overvaluing the Bills at 9 or 9 and a half. Damn you Stadium Wall for corrupting my judgement. .
  19. Uh, yeah... word of warning. It is a lo-fi, sci-fi movie if you know what I mean. On the freak front he is Nikola Tesla in the much anticipated " The Prestige " which appears to be a heavyweight project along the same lines as " The Illusionist ". Trailers for The Prestige (2006)
  20. Well reasoned; that is the story. Being delusional, it just guts me that Cal couldn't rise to the challenge and that brother Stoops is taking his time in putting Arizona on the map. Also can't help but feel that Dorrell is on the clock at UCLA and will deliver a big season. The conference again provided good early entertainment value. Two heavyweight road games (two and a half if you count Wash. St. at Auburn) and league game for no good reason. Yeah, they are a bit softer. Why they fall just short in recruiting the big and the mean remains a puzzle. .
  21. Any followers of the Pac 10 care to comment on an unsettling weekend ? Cal lays an egg, Arizona ekes out a win at home, AZ State struggles against the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona ? I have been waiting for UCLA to turn the corner and take me back to the John Robinson highs of days gone by and have become the neighborhood pain in the ass about the "east coast bias" in both basketball and football rankings. Might be a long season...
  22. If you likey the freaky movies (Bubba Ho Tep, indeed), find The Man Who Fell To Earth In actor mode he doesn't contribute to the soundtrack but IMDB will lead you through all of the soundtracks that you absorbed him from, elsewhere on the page. . (edit: fixed link)
  23. I saw his name on the 49'ers cut list. Very sad, throwing out a perfectly good 320 lb man. Maybe not a perfectly good football player, but still. .
  24. If you need to set the mood, burning oak
