  1. So because we didn't get Shannahan or Kubiak (who is turning down interviews to stay as Baltimore OC) the Rex signing is a failure? Also San Fran made it to all those big games because of their defense in a league where defense can only take you so far? It's funny that you say their defense carried them because in the year they went to the Super Bowl they beat Green Bay in the divisional round 45-31, then Atlanta in the NFC Championship 28-24, while losing the Super Bowl 34-31. Without a doubt that is all defense right there. The offense had nothing to do with the team averaging 35 points per game in the playoffs that year, nothing at all. Also pigeon holding yourself to a offensive or defensive coach based on whichever side you were weaker at that season is pure idocy. You go get the best leader you can find and if he coaches the side of the ball you are good at, so be it. The logic that if you just hire an "offensive guy" and he will fix the offense is pretty much the worst logic there is.
  2. So you would have been happy with Norv Turner as the Head Coach because he is an "offensive guy"? This notion that when hiring a head coach you should always go with a guy on the side of the ball you were weaker on is complete garbage. Also what SF games are you talking about? The playoff games over the last 3 season including the 3 conference championships and the Super Bowl where they were one play away from winning? Are those the SF games you are talking about? Yet again the completely ridiculous concept that your new head coach has to come from the side of the ball you are weaker on.
  3. Also enough with the point that our offense was bad so we should have gone with an offensive minded guy. People who say this must be casual fans.
  4. What Kool-aid? Do you think Terry Pegula is trying to pull one over on the fans? He doesn't have any intention of winning so he just hired Rex Ryan for $27.5 million as a publicity stunt so the kool-aid goes down easier? Please people need to just stop. So much wrong with this thread. This is so true. Let's blame Roman for Kaep having a bad year this year and ignore the fact that the offense was good enough the last 3 years to get to the conference championship each year and 1 Super Bowl. Let's also criticize Rex on is defense this season with poor personell and ignore all the years the Jets defense has been great and used that as a measuring stick. Like I said, so much wrong with this thread and so many people feeding it that really have no clue.
  5. I love how people want to point out the Jets record this year and the Niners offensive numbers this year as negatives, while ignoring the previous years the same coaches had as successes.
  6. I don't think Hackett knows that play action is within the rules.
  7. And apparently nobody has stepped up for anybody else either, so I guess nobody has any options.
  8. He was the first coach hired. For you to say the Bills were his only option is completely ridiculous and speculative. You have no idea what his options were.
  9. And Russell Wilson is too short to play QB. People really love to show their ignorance sometimes. I don't know who said this about Hughes but if you actually watch him play instead of just looking at his height and weight, you can see that he is a great player. Plus he is taller than Freeney and weighs more than Mathis. How is this guy too small?
  10. Iupati and Revis!
  11. What about Niagara Dude? He called this 5 days ago.
  12. The best part about this post is Greg Roman as OC when everyone is reporting that Ryan and Trestman are duo.
  13. By the time QB's get to the NFL they are mostly developed. Wilson was very good his rookie season and was going to be great no matter where he went. Assuming that he wouldn't have developed as well with another team is a falsehood. Also every team did pass on him but not every team needed a QB and we did as bad as anyone. He was the consensus pick for us in the 3rd amongst analysts and fans, just like Ngata was and just like Orakpo was. What happened? The Bills got cute and took an unknown receiver who everyone considered a reach and was more of a track athlete than a football player. Classic Bills out thinking themselves. It was an absolutely unforgivable pick by Nix. Stop trying to make Nix seem like he was a good GM.
  14. I remember watching and when we traded up hoping he would be the pick. It was Buddy's defining move as a GM. He kept talking about getting a QB and although he had completly ignored the position in previous drafts until that point, Wilson was pretty much gift wrapped for him to take in the 3rd round and was the consensus pick for us. Many analysts thought that Wilson would be a Bill and the Seahawks were deeply concerned that the Bills just pulled one over on them and moved in front to take Wilson. But guess what, aw no, we had to go and ruin that with a little thing called TJ Graham. A niche reciever who never once caught the ball with any sort of contact whatsoever. I do think the Gailey probably convinced Nix that he could win with Fitz and a receiver like Graham would be great in his system, but it doesn't change the fact that it was a terrible pick. Buddy Nix's legacy.
  15. Agree 100%. Henderson is probably going to be a good Head Coach someday.
  16. Dude enough with the hyperbole. Nobody has said anything even close to this. I don't care to have this debate anymore. I love Sammy, He is going to be a great WR and I am glad we have him. I hope Sammy is the best WR in the NFL next year, outshines ODB, and I am proven wrong.
  17. Yet this whole thread is full of people trying to prove that Watkins is better than ODB.
  18. Please explain what was not factual about my post?
  19. "Marrone wasn't the best liked choice for coach, but it's interesting to see that quite a few people supported him, but now that he's gone, all of a sudden things that were rumored prior to us hiring him are becoming higher profile in the media, and all of a sudden the guy's a dirtbag. The same exact things could have come out if he were still the coach and those slamming him now would be defending him." Tasker
  20. They were 2nd in yards and tied with two other teams in 14 in yards per attempt. The ran the ball more than any other team in the league by a good margain. Let not skew the facts.
  21. If Beckham's numbers are extrapolated over 16 games he would have been 1st in yards, 2nd in receptions and tied in 1st with Dez Bryant for most TD's amongst wide receivers in the entire NFL. Even though he played less games than pretty much all the leaders, he was still in the top ten in all 3 of those categories. He had a rare and special season for a rookie and trying to lump him in with any other rookies seems like an attempt to not make him seem as special as he is. When players have a rookie year like that, they are almost always dominant players for their careers and the best in their era, like Randy Moss. I know, he played with Eli! Who last year threw for 17 TD's and 28 Int's without him. If I am Whaley at the last draft and I have my choice between Watkins and Beckham I am taking Watkins every time. Even though when I saw that they had traded up part of me was really hoping for Mack because of how sick our defense would have been. Seeing how he turned out I think if we had drafted him, our defense next year with him and Alonso could have rivaled the 85' Bears and the 00' Ravens even in this era. I don't blame Whaley for taking Watkins. Obviously the trade was a mistake. Giving up an additional first to draft a receiver, in a great receiver draft, when you are not sure if there is a viable QB on the roster. If your answer is Whaley thought he had a viable QB, then that reflects poorly on him. He needs to take his lumps for that. If people want to laugh or attack me for this opinion go ahead. All that really proves is you can't give an objective opinion on Whaley's performance. What Tasker said about Marrone is right, a week ago everyone on this board lover him, now he is the devil and we are all glad he's gone. I am actually glad he is gone but you know what, I was hoping he would be gone beforehand, not praising him as the next Parcells like a lot of you were.
  22. I love the Bills and Watkins as much as anybody. I just am not going to pretend any rookie had nearly the year ODB did so I feel better about Whaley. I am not a giant Homer like 90% of this board.
