  1. I just hope it's not a contract issue being hidden inside an "illness" issue. That seems like a common ploy. Hope he feels better soon anyhow.
  2. This is horrible, horrible news. Not only will our defense going to take a hit, this is likely to stunt Kiko's development. What's Cory Wire doing these days?
  3. God bless his soul, but I think that's because Kelly used to throw up some real stinkers every now and again (imagine that!). Sure, he was a HOF QB, but he was also sounded by a HOF o-line, HOF WRs, HOF RB, and a consistent top-5 defense. Even EJ would've shined on those teams.
  4. I'm not too worried about that. For one reason or another, it happens. What concerns me even more is that Gus Bradley didn't think him being on the roster made the Jags D a better unit.
  5. They paid more money on Old Fashioneds than I pay on dinner out with my wife and kid. But, you can't expect public sympathy when you hold out for a bigger contract AND for go broke spending it. One or the other. Plus the handful of women asking for child support. Do they count as family?
  6. Fantastic Sam
  7. Come on guys, "things happen".
  8. I think this is just a testament on why they deserve to make as much as they do. That and the dementia they'll develop down the road. That said, I'd be curious to know if other teams have had this many injuries.
  9. I have as many reasons to like him as I do his agent. He's a great kid and I look forward to him lighting it up.
  10. Parker's his agent? I expect this contract (assuming he's decent) to be (1) unfulfilled in its entirety and (2) to be the first and last contract he signs with the Bills. Let's fully enjoy the next 2-3 years before he becomes "disrespected", sits out, develops a prolonged "injury" or demands a trade.
  11. I think if Brown is a viable option (1000-yards or more), we'll be seeing Spiller walk. We have more important positions we will need to address and we shouldn't break the bank on a player who is not an every-down back. Plus, if we ever make the playoffs, we need money for FAs that would help push us deep into the playoffs.
  12. Haven't people been throwing around that we played nearly 70% of our snaps out of a 4-3 formation last year? Seemed to work out pretty well then, so I'm not exactly worried about the DE position. Edit: Duh, didn't see it posted a few posts above me.
  13. I just don't get this statement. It makes little sense. Brandt is an excellent football mind, but what exactly has Hackett done to deserve this praise? In all likelihood, if EJ doesn't show significant improvement this season, Hackett's walking.
  14. There must be a reason, but I don't understand why the Bills don't just sign him as an UDFA. With his status of just being an "invite", there's really no commitment and he could sign with another team at any time, right? It's either the Bills really don't believe in him or they can't afford the $3,000 signing bonus.
  15. First, let's make the big assumption he turns into a player like Green or Jones. Where does that get us? What have the JJ trade done for ATL? Same for Green (although Cincy gets points for not mortgaging their future to get him ). Would you even trade pick #8 and next year's 1st for Jones or Green, especially when you have an unknown commodity at QB? The more I think about it, it almost resembles a desperation move to try impress the next owner.
  16. According to the federal government marijuana is a Schedule I substance, thus it can never be "prescribed" by a physician. And since the DEA governments every physician's ability to prescribe controlled substances, it's not likely going to be violated by any doctor in any state. To get around this, in some states, medicinal marijuana can only be "recommended". I can't possibly see the NFL going against the federal government due to its anti-trust status, regardless of what state a team plays in.
  17. This is the best move of the draft weekend.
  18. There are many different points-of-views on here, but I don't think anyone here is ignorant enough to mistake Vick for a playoff calibre QB
  19. I guess I withhold my judgement of Kiper's grade or the draft picks in general, because I don't know much about college football. But, just one thought: is drafting Watkins really the difference between a deep-run playoff team and 6-10 perpetuity? Quoted for internet eternity.
  20. Athletic skill aside (because it means very little right now), Sammy hasn't caught an NFL pass in his life. While I sure hope it doesn't happen and it's probably not likely, he very well could end up being a bust. Stevie is not a bust. While not elite, he's money in the bank. As for EJ, he's negative money in the bank right now considering the 1st round pick we used, plus the 1st next year which we won't be able to use on a QB.
  21. Correct, which is probably why they went out and traded for another RB option. It's called improving the position. But the Bills don't want to with the QB position.
  22. By that logic, why draft anyone? Our current players are further along than anyone we could draft. Why draft Watkins when Stevie is further along than him? Sometimes it's about potential and constantly trying to improve your team.
  23. By this logic, EJ should be the only active QB on the game day roster. They're 100% behind him, right? Shouldn't need a quality backup when you're 100% behind your starter, right? I think it's amazing that a "run option" QB who really didn't run much still managed to tally up 3 injuries in 1 season plus an offseason surgery. But I guess we still wouldn't want a quality backup considering we're 100% behind EJ. You must've missed the countless floaters he threw up. But I guess this is why they targeted Watkins.
  24. I don't see how drafting a QB in the 4th or 5th contradicts this. Plus, the Bills were already fairly talented at WR but they still decided to improve their team by drafting Watkins. A good GM continues to improve his team regardless of position. And it's naive to believe EJ will play a whole season, so we need a good backup QB. Whaley never said Lewis is "their man".
