  1. No one said they are the same player. But production is production, which was Wood-ish. I'd be extremely wary of paying a 30 year-old who had a "down year" when his team made the playoffs. That tells me a lot of things we're going right on that team, but not him. Wonder why.
  2. Would you give Woods that type of money? Because that's the production (minus blocking) you'll be getting, at best.
  3. I'd sign him for a little over the vet minimum plus a bunch of incentives, 1-2 years. It was insane he was making that much for average production. I'm sure he was on the Bills minds (on what not to do) when they decided not to option Sammy.
  4. This guy certainly doesn't want to be a Bill or the Bills don't want him to be one. I would move on.
  5. There is so much speculation in this post, I don't know where to begin. First, the 3rd round isn't like the 1st round. There's no talent cliff you fall off of after the 10th pick. The difference between the 90th pick and the 100th pick is highly subjective. There's no consensus once you get that far out. The price we'll have to pay depends on who we trade with. A trade with LA is going to look much different than a trade with the 49ers. We just don't know where the cards are going to fall. We can't speculate about the price at this point. Who says we'll have to trade into the Top 5? Again, speculation. There are a number of great QB prospects coming out next year. I don't think anyone on here is going to take it as far as you and speculate the Chiefs pick we received may not even be valuable to us. All I'm saying is that we just don't have enough information yet for us to confidently make any decision on whether a 3rd round pick is valuable or not. We may not need to trade at all. Then we pick an extra player. It's win win. Just because $100 bill exist doesn't mean $10 bills have no value.
  6. I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that the Bills organization know a heck of a lot more about Sammy's medical issues than people on this board do. There's been a lot of smoke (declining the 5th year option, this report) about the Bills moving on from Sammy and just maybe they know something that we don't.
  7. Not to discourage your argument, but just recently a team gave us a 2018 1st AND their 3rd round pick (pick #91) to move up in Round 1. And this team then drafted a QB with the pick. So, it's reall[y/I] inaccurate to say that an extra 3rd round pick next year would be a meaningless asset for an attempt to move up in the 2018 draft.
  8. He should be able to drop out, and have the Bills pay back any tuition owed. He can finish schooling later.
  9. Come on, guys. Keep it to the "all-stars" that were all voluntarily let out of their contracts.
  10. Peter Principle, but in reverse. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_principle
  11. http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/04/07/buffalo-bills-deshaun-watson-tyrod-taylor-2017-nfl-draft/ Original report was from Matt Miller of Bleacher Report. McD not wanting him was my assumption, considering he was a position to select him and did not.
  12. I'm glad the era of trying to get an "athletic" QB ended when Whaley left. The reports were probably true, Whaley was in love with Watson and McD wanted nothing to do with him. We saw how that power struggle ended.
  13. If refreshing to see a coaching staff that is attempting to see how a player will best succeed instead of jamming them into a system's position.
  14. I'm sure the helmet will help. This is physics. The potential and kinetic energy of a helmet or the ground (or whatever) hitting another helmet has to go somewhere. With conventional helmets, the energy is not transferred to the receiving helmet, due to its stiffness, and travels to the skull instead. These new helmets are designed to adsorb as much as that oncoming energy they can. They may even break in some cases, but this would be a good thing. Evolutionary, the fluid around our brain does a similar thing. It absorbs the energy of trauma so the brain isn't hitting up the inside of the skull. Same thing with the fluid in our automobile shocks. This isn't about eliminating brain injuries, but about decreasing their risk.
  15. The problem I have with these shannigans is how will this affect future lawsuits. I don't think you can sue for damages later on when stuff like this is going on. The players can't have it both ways.
  16. Was he the same same Director of Pro Personel? If so, not impressed. Dolphins seem to follow the "I've heard of him!" philosophy of signing FAs.
  17. No doubt they have to complete their studies. So does every student athlete regardless of university, private or public. The problem arises when they are specifically recruited for their football team, but then are not allowed to pursue the NFL if they are drafted. It'll be better is they just cease recruiting for sports and try to cobble together a team with what they have. Nobody is being deceived then. Which would be a great solution. Why US military academies have D1 football teams is lost on me. Let them form their teams with players who see themselves as military recruits. I'm sure Marcia or Hoodie asked for preferential treatment and he received it.
  18. I have no idea why they want to get these kids. Why would a University that is full subsidized by the US military be interested in a football program that puts kids in the NFL? I'm entirely OK with them making these kids complete their service requirement. That said, if they are recruiting them for their football team and not allowing them to enter the NFL, then they 10x as worse as the major college football programs who see their kids as a commodity in their business. If recruited explicitly for athletics, they should allow all current athletes to transfer without paying back any tuition or service requirement.
  19. Although not a crazy, this remind me of the scenario when IK was lured into the room where they was a naked dude in the bed, then some reverend tried to rob him before he decided to jump out the window. http://www.espn.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/13519161/buffalo-bills-ik-enemkpali-punched-man-thought-was-woman-arranged-sex-according-police-report
  20. I'm sure not many on here made a decision as a "kid" that cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars. As for his son, I wish him the best. The great part about this is that Hirschsprung's is 100% curable with surgery, unless it's part of a larger syndrome. He'll be fine.
  21. I totally agree with this. There is nothing in McD's background to suggest otherwise.
