I think turnover number (not differential, which adds in the offensive turnover wrinkle) is a good measure. Usually turnovers occur when chaos is being dealt on the field. Certainly when there is a fumble, but also interceptions when the QB is being harassed.

Not only this, but people equally credit Daboll for Allen’s success as well. Who exactly has Daboll developed prior to Allen? He bounced around various bottom feeders as OC with little success before retreating to Alabama. I would attribute Allen’s success as: 10% Daboll, 20% Palmer, 20% better surrounding talent (Beane), and 50% Allen himself. The guy has a compete level off the charts. He’ll be fine without Daboll.

The problem is you don’t take your foot off the gas when you are playing Tom Brady. Any coach in the NFL knows this and I don’t think the Chiefs purposely decided to lay back and get comfortable with their lead. What happened was there was a correction towards the mean in terms of play. The Chiefs aren’t perfect. The Bills aren’t either.

This thread is entertaining. Multiple Bills coaches believe that the team is better with Morse sitting. It doesn’t matter what some our preconceived notions are, how much the team is paying him, or how much we think we know about NFL OL play. The people who actually matter and likely know a lot more than we do have made a decision. Is there any reason why we should assume they are wrong?

I see no problem if they chose to bench him. No starter should feel comfortable enough to underperform. If a coach thinks they are cutting it, then they take some time off to think about it. That said, I still wonder if this is tied to Spain’s cryptic tweet.
