Hope this finally destroys the notion of Best Player Available. The fact that so many trades occur in the 1st round should’ve done this, but Beane has come out and clearly said it.

I would be fine to move up early in the 2nd round. At this point, quality is better than quantity. 2-3 players we draft this year probably won’t even make the team.

Obviously this is a legal thing to do. I just don’t see how it can be either. Why even attempt to sign a RFA when it can be automatically matched and then restructured a short time later?

I’m not quite sure we can say we’re even the best team in the AFC. The Chiefs proved that 2 years in a row. And now we have an influx of talent in the conference and even in our own division (Hill). If we can get our secondary sorted out (thin would be too effusive of a word at present), we’ll be a SB contender. But, as it stands, there’s going to be some decent teams that don’t even make the playoffs next year.

I don’t see this as a tough situation. It’s a fantastic situation for him. He’s either going to get paid or play on the Super bowl contender. I would classify this as a tough decision.

Yep. Given the uphill battle the Chiefs will have in their division, if Hill had to go, send him to a place that will hurt us.

I don’t think any of these guys will have Wilson, Herbert, Mahomes, Watson, or Burrow shaking in their Nikes. Dane is an unknown and Wallace was a below average CB2. Doesn’t hurt when both of your safeties are Pro Bowelers either. If we start the 2022 season with Dane as our CB1 and anything beyond a 3rd round rookie starting at CB2, we’re in deep trouble. You mean over 5 years ago when he wasn’t even the GM and had a completely different scouting department?

Who exactly is this “great talent” at CB Beane has found in the later rounds?

Just imagine, not too long ago, there was a time when we wanted to get him as our starter…

I wouldn’t mind trading back into the 1st with next year’s first and a 3rd or 4th. We’ll be picking 32nd next year anyways.

I think some of these players get carried away during the free agency period by the agents. It’s in the agent’s best interest to get the highest contract for themselves, I mean the players. Before the players even know it, they have a very hard time turning down offer the agent is likely pressuring them to not to refuse. Next thing they know, they’re on a different team. I get that the buck stops at the player, but these are young guys and are highly impressionable.

I don’t see it this way. In fact, it’s more commendable than players like Jones where money was the #1 concern. Changing jobs and moving to a new city didn’t sound like something he wanted to do. For some, it isn’t just about winning a championship or money.
