Joe B WGR: Did Trent turn down the Dolphins?
Saint Doug replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's awesome. Respect for Trent goes up. But, he still sucks as a player. -
What is Chad Kelly (Jim's nephew) hinting at?
Saint Doug replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know, this was 4 years ago. People viewpoints change and Ralph has every right to change his mind. Many things have happened that change the landscape, the CBA for one. Maybe Ralph doesn't want to be an owner anymore, especially pay a minimum salary cap. Look at him now, he's nowhere near the proposed salary cap basement. Next year, when this goes into effect, Ralph stands to lose a lot of cash due to this basement. -
I really think they are purposely throwing this season. They likely could have a better QB, but they chose not to. Losers.

A broken hip can heal in a young person, but hip fractures in the elderly carry a high mortality and significant morbidity. In fact, hip fractures in the elderly carry about a 20% mortality rate in the year following the insult. Now, ralph seems like a healthier-than-most 100 year-old, so he may not have much to worry about. I think Chadwick should've kept his mouth (Twitter is so good at exposing big mouths) shut because it's not that hard to figure out what he is trying to say. This is probably why ralph is keeping his team $30 million below the cap with plans to exit before the salary cap basement takes effect next year. -
Reminds me of a line in a rap song I know "Swallow the nut up and shut up, b***h.

I always find it hugely concerning when a player drops off after getting the large contract. I never thought Kyle was that type, but it's still concerning.

Concerned about our linebackers
Saint Doug replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope he does, and it's going to take a large set for them to acknowledge they were wrong about Merriman. It's time to end this experiment and go with the younger players on D. We are not going deep into the playoffs this year, so we should be developing our youngsters for next year, when expectations will be sky high. -
Merriman should be sent packing for the same reason Lee was traded. We may make the play-offs this year, but we certainly are not SB contenders. Let's give our younger players a year to develop before next year, when we should go deep into the play-offs. Our D is the weakest link here, let's end Nix's nostalgic experiment.

This BNs article was horrible. How can a reporter actually be a good reporter without asking the tough questions - namely the elephant in the room; was Merriman's past greatness just a function of his steroid use? No one wants to unnecessarily dwell on the negative past, but I think this is an important area to discuss. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/article578433.ece

If There Is One Addition Needed To Bring This Team
Saint Doug replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would like a shut-down corner. There's no reason other teams should be consistently putting up over 30 point, mostly via a passing attack. There is going to be a week when our O is not in sync and the D is going to have to win us the game. -
Many QBs, including Fitz, couldn't make these throws until they met Gailey. I wouldn't quickly write-off a QB because he's stinking it up in Denver.

Who's the big Moats fan around here?
Saint Doug replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's a bit naive to believe Merriman will get back to being "Lights Out". While he may be a solid player, let's remind ourselves that he has never shown his previous greatness since being busted for steroids (forget preseason, it's just preseason). Remember, steroids are a performance enhancing drug. They make players better than they actually are. And that "player" people saw in SD may never come back, regardless of injuries. -
Better them than us.
-
Yeah, it seems like it. But, he's no Brady. He's made out of glass and has no rings.
-
"I felt I got hit late. No flag," Vick said. "At some point something catastrophic is gonna happen. Not to blame the refs, but more precautions should be taken. I'm on the ground all the time in the pocket." Precautions should be taken!! Unfortunately it wasn't his throwing hand.
-
The Bills beat the Cheaters and Vick leaves with a broken hand. Couldn't have wished for more. And for those who are going to wonder why someone would wish an injury on an NFL player, just chill. I get it. But still don't care. I guess this is what Philly gets when they give a King's ransom in guaranteed cash to a player that has only played 16 games in a season only about twice in his career. Knowing that Peters is part of the o-line that is supposed to protect him is even better.

One sentence upon which all will agree...
Saint Doug replied to billsintaiwan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nope. Otherwise we would have got a 1st for him. -
"Bills Fear Fitzpatrick's Leverage Will Only Increase"
Saint Doug replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You think he deserves Manning or Brady money? I don't think so, but he should get paid like a franchise QB. I don't think we have to worry about him leaving. We're the team who resurrected his career and he's the heart and soul of our team. If we offer him a reasonable contract, he'l likely take it, not like some DB who wouldl feel "dissed" and jump ship. -
Expect the Bills to draft 2 DB's next year
Saint Doug replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't mind drafting a DB in the first round. I can't identify any other position we need more. Just think of all the Raider receivers that sat out on Sunday. Would we have won this game if they were all healthy? True, Fitz still would have carved them up, but their offense may have been on the field longer if their receivers were all healthy. I guess the true test is next week. -

Had to bump this. Indeed, there was. -
Official BILLS vs RAIDERS GAMEDAY THREAD
Saint Doug replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True. But, they are playing the Raiders though. -
I can't see this being a statement game. Regardless of the product they will place on the field on Sunday, the Raiders have been one of the most dysfunctional franchises over the last 7 years (along with the Bills). Lets wait a few years before we crown the Raiders as a "team to beat". Now, next week will definitely be a statement game.

Raiders' Tommy Kelly Talks Smack
Saint Doug replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really don't see what was so bad about what he said. He seemed pretty complementary of what the Bills did last Sunday and was impressed. He then goes on to state the obvious; "but we're not the Chiefs". -
Unfortunately there is. Wawrow's article suggests financials drove the Evans trade, since the trade was facilitated by the Bills salary cap specialist. Now, I don't believe everything I read, but jw has a reputation of impeccable journalistic integrity. I'm not trying to start a pissing match, just being fair. There is, in fact, evidence of this happening. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2011/8/24/2381348/lee-evans-trade-buddy-nix-jim-overdorf The Bills did receive appropriate compensation though, no disputing that. But the motivation of the trade is troubling.
