  1. I don't know about the love for McCoy. Peyton is McCoy's OC. I really like the Bevell idea. A lot. And why hasn't Jay Gruden been mentioned at all? Did he send out a memo to the NFL that he wasn't interested in any HC jobs? It's becoming clear that whoever is running this team (ie. Ralph) doesn't understand that our next QB will be in charge of developing a rookie QB.
  2. Looks like Buffalo is going to end up with the leftovers. What's progressive about Smith or Whisenhunt? I would go more for Arians, Jay Gruden, or Bevell? They have proven they can develop a young QB. Sure, Whisenhunt developed Big Ben, but their original intention was to have him ride pine for a year. An injury to Maddox caused Big Ben to come alive. And what has Whisenhunt done with the QB situation in Arizona? A complete joke. In fact, the Bills and Whisenhunt deserve each other.
  3. Just based on what he did with Wilson should be enough to earn him an interview.
  4. You didn't get the memo? We won our last game against the Jets. We no longer have a "culture of losing".
  5. Yep. Once we hire Whiz, we'll know nothing changed despite Monday's press conference.
  6. Why do you combine Smith with Vick? One just wins games with few mistakes made and the other one does the opposite. Arguably the worse part of Fitz was his in opportune turnovers, which would invariably lead to our D not being able to stop the opposing team's offense. This would be one of the major reasons we would lose. It was not so much our offense's ability to put points on the board. Now, Vick. Not only could he not put up the points, as you astutely point out, he's worse than Fitz in the turnover department.
  7. Careful. Think back to the Levy GM days. This very same logic was used to justify Dick Jauron's hire and we all know how that turned out.
  8. You forgot, in the Positives column: A winning attitude, with key momentum, due to the win over the Jets and the Jags at the end of the season.
  9. But we don't have a good or great QB. And who knows if we are going to get one soon. In fact, history and the numbers say that whoever we get in this coming draft will not likely work out for us. We are not picking 1 or 2. So why would we want a coach who has proven he cannot win without a top-shelf QB? I'll pass. I would place Lovie much higher than Whiz for what he did with Rexman. He'll just need a great OC.
  10. That link makes Nix sound like a caveman.
  11. Why do we have to continue hiring coaches due to "personal connections"? We've done this before and it doesn't work out. Other teams have tried this approach too and usually fail. The Old Boys Club approach to hiring coaches doesn't work. It's a sign of a GM wanting job security over the best man for the job.
  12. For all intents and purposes, those 2 records are not significantly different than each other. They're the same.
  13. If true, I wonder if this will keep them from drafting a QB? One can only hope.
  14. I don't get it? We had Fitzpatrick. Evaluating the talent at all of our positions would have been pointless. I'm sure Belichick doesn't waste his time evaluating Nancy.
  15. No way! http://www.deathbyemail.com/2007/05/does_the_nfl_th.html
  16. Murray will go in the 1st. Mark my words. This post just bleeds ignorance. On so many levels.
  17. Harbaugh left Standford 1 year into a 5 year extension. So, it could be possible given the right circumstance.
  18. Actually this is not very clear. He states he will have the "final authority and say", but in the very next sentence, he then goes on to say that this is was Buddy Nix does. So, is Russ the de facto GM then?
  19. It's would have been much preferable. Why the fans don't deserve a decent, conventional football operation is beyond me.
  20. How did Russ have time to fly to Michigan for him and Ralph's little cry session plus Arizona to interview with 3 coaching candidates? Must be a busy little boy. And I wonder if Nix plans on being involved with these little coach-searching jaunts? I hope not. Let Russ alone to hire the biggest bastard he can. No more old boys club hires.
  21. This press conference reminded me of that time they introduced JP Losman as their #1 draft pick a year after he was drafted. A press conference that really didn't introduce anything new.
  22. I think this is great news in fact. Most coaching hires are because (in order of importance): 1) they peripherally worked together 15 years ago. 2) they won't threatening the GMs job (ie they'll act like good underlings). 3) they knew their father. 4) they owe them a favor. 5) they're the best man for the job. With Russ, we won't have to worry about any of this crap.
  23. What exactly is the connection? I assume Horton had some type of coaching responsibilities in Pittsburgh, but what did he do there? I think we're all going to end up happy with the coaching hire. Russ isn't going to make some BS hire because they worked together 20 years ago, he knew his father, owes him a favor, or won't threatening his GM duties. There's to be no kitty footing around with a "safe" hire. He's going to hire the best man for the job.
  24. But, AJ Smith is a proven !@#$. I wouldn't put him and Nix in the same category.
