Sabres announce Ron Rolston as Permanent HC
Saint Doug replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah, I don't know about this. I'll repeat what others have said: not very inspiring. That said, I don't think we know enough about this guy except he is probably a Darcy yes-man who will not rock Darcy's sinking ship. Anyone else get the feeling Pegula just doesn't care any more? -
Bill Polian on Jerry Hughes
Saint Doug replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This trade is a head-scratcher for this very reason. I've never seen Hughes play, but stat-wise, he did seem to "turn the corner". Considering Nix has a proven track record of turning garbage into gold, I think we may have just picked up a very good player. -
Article on Alonso's potential impact...also tidbits on EJ3

I find it very surreal and even comforting that people think the Bills took the best QB in this year's draft. Who would have guessed? -
This is rather strange. If they're so buddy buddy, why don't they just meet at a bar and have a few together? Why is this even being reported? Since they're playing each other this season, Bellicheat could be scheming to drop some misinformation or flat out try to gain the upper hand.

Falcons release Tyson Clabo
Saint Doug replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, the concern with Miami is Tannehill. They're betting rather big he's the one who can get them deep into the playoffs. If they're wrong, then it really doesn't matter who they sign during FA. -
What I don't understand is why didn't the Bills just select him with their 7th? It's like they were teasing fate with this one. Apparently they were already on the phone with Da'Rick during the draft telling him how much they wanted him and if he didn't get picked, he should sign with the Bills. If the Bills really wanted him, why didn't they just pick him? The kid apparently has a very high ceiling, so high that it was entirely possible for another team to take a gamble and pick him with their 5th-7th. It obviously paid off, but if the Bills were so high on him, why did they even take the chance?

Would Brady have been as good...
Saint Doug replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Brady went in the 1st, he would have been starting in place of Bledsoe. As a result, he would have been the one injured by Mo Lewis and knocked out of the season. As a result, Brady would've been the one traded to the Bills for a 1st and again, as a result, we would have won 3 Superbowls with him. -

Yeah, forgot about that. Need to be very big for that. -

I never really completely understood the difference between a WR and TE. I know TEs are usually much bigger and are relied on to block, but if a RB like Spiller can be relied on to pick up blitzes, then a player with the body of a WR should be able to also. So, I really don't know why a bigger WR couldn't be converted to a TE. Perhaps someone can give me more insight. -
And a year younger than Eddie Robinson when we picked him up. What do we need him for? To shine on a team lead by a QB who will likely take 2-3 to develop? So, when Manuel is hitting on all cylinders, Dansby's wheels will be falling off and we'll have to sub in a younger LB with limited experience. Let the LBs experience their growing pains now, not later.
-
The other question I have is why did the Colts decide to let Hughes go after his career best year? Although he didn't have a break-out season or one expected of a 1st round pick, he certainly showed improvement over the previous years. Maybe his numbers were a result of garbage time and/or dumb luck, like Maybin's?
-
Albert has repeatedly said he would only play LT and we already have a very capable LT. End of story.
-
Kellen Winslow should something left in the tank. He never really used any of it.
-
I think this signals the end of the Dansby talks. We did not draft a 2nd rounder LB to be depth, Kiko's going to start. And it's about time to poop or get off the pot for Nigel and Moats, so they're going to get their chance to shine. Dansby would have relegated one of them to back-up. We did not want them to be back-up, so we grabbed Hughes for this role. Besides, does anyone know if Dansby can play multiple LB positions (which appears to be a prerequisite)? Plus, out of all the QBs in the draft, although he may have the highest ceiling, Manuel is a project. He's not going to be expected to win this year and maybe not even year (depending on if he sees the field this year). There's no point of signing a high priced veteran this year.

Buddy Nix on WGR this morning
Saint Doug replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he could talk about it, why didn't he do it on game day? That's the problem, it's easier to talk about doing something than actually doing it. I'm sure Losman won a few Superbowls talking about how he should handle himself in the pocket too. That said, I really hope these concerns are unfounded and I'm behind the pick. -
With even Marrone passing on Nassib, I really can't fathom wanting him on our team.
-
Someone should do a reverse mock draft grade. Compare every pundit's mock to how they were really picked, then grade each mock.
-
Let's get real now. If it wasn't for the Bills, he very likely would've went in the 5th or 6th or possibly undrafted. This guy has project written all over him. It's sort of troublesome for a WR when you view their highlight film and all you see is reverse end arounds.

Buffalo Bills UDFA Signings

And, ironically, history proved that any Bills fan with an above average football knowledge could have drafted players and picked a coach better than he did. -
