I cant wait until JP comes back
CircleTheWagons replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I liked that "playaction/Fullback is wide open in the endzone" play from last night - I think it would work almost every time in 1st/2nd down. FB fakes a chip block and heads wide - if the other team respects the run he will be open all the time because the LB with responsibility wants to make the stuff. I think we used week 1 to set up different options over the season. -
There is no simple solution to this problem. If the ref rules he's down, he blows his whistle and the play is dead - there is no way to know what would have happened if the whistle didn't blow.

It took a long time to win that throne - are you sure you want to give it up so quick

Top of the list - Woohoo (11-3)! I might just have to print the standings before I become mortal again

Q for those who watched on TV -
CircleTheWagons replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The biggest thing for the review is whether the receiver maintained possession when he landed - the ref said that he did maintain possession -making it a valid catch. I'm pretty sure they weren't checking his feet since it was ruled that he was pushed out of bounds which is a judgement call. -
Self-Imposed Exile Over - Let's Talk Drew
CircleTheWagons replied to Foxboro Mike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a long season. Some things were done yesterday to prepare this team for the rest of the year and instill an attitude that will pay off later. 6 months of listening to people say that the coaching staff can't reign in Drew and he won't be able to "dink and dunk" all game. Well, he can. Let's hope he doesn't do it again. -
I've been hesitant to use the "ignore user" feature, but after all of the whiners coming out of the woodwork yesterday and today, I'm starting to use it regularly. Making the Wall a better place for me, one user at a time.

As mad as I am, I think this was a BIG
CircleTheWagons replied to 4everBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought that too, but it would have been a 52-yarder - definitely not a kick made by 90% of the kickers. Of course, the 41-yarder he missed earlier was the killer and would have been made most of the time by most kickers. -
Great game but tough loss

Definitely several player mistakes, but what about the coaching? I thought it was pretty good except for the couple of instances I mentioned. -
Wow, what a game. I remember why I hate offseason. 2 points where I question the coaches, with 20-20 hindsight: Why was NC in single coverage with their best receiver on 4 and 14? Seems to me there should have been safety help on that play. What the hell was that lateral to Moulds call? I'm sure Clements/Mularkey thought they set it up with the previous draw to Henry, but everyone knew they were using the draw to set up the play to Moulds - it was just TOO obvious. Two options on that play for the defense - cover Henry on the draw and watch Moulds. Once Drew turned right, the defense was all over that play. Someone mentioned that we were going to hate Mularkey's trick plays, I'm starting to see why. Other than those 2 plays, I thought it was a well coached game, with a few killer penalties on both sides. I'm glad it's a long season. A big win next week and we're back on track.

Almost gametime, and thought this was going to be a hockey thread. As a Canadian out west, with family all over our country - I just want to say every single friggin Canadian I know was embarrassed by the booing of your anthem - even the French Canadians I know. BUT we have bigger problems with the idiots in Montreal - they also boo the Canadian anthem, ESPECIALLY DURING CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS. If you boo your own anthem, why not boo someone elses Go Bills! Only 3 more hours. How friggin long has it been since we played an important game - probably close to 10 months. Fuggin Gilbride :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: .

OFFICIAL "ITS A GREAT DAY FOR FOOTBALL"
CircleTheWagons replied to Corp000085's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its a great day for "BUFFALO BILLS" football. -
3 years ago today was the worst day and started the most frightening few weeks in my life. Over those few weeks, watching as a Canadian from Canada, I learned a lot about my neighbours. We knew you were proud and we knew you were powerful, but the world saw your pulling together, your internal strength and your ability to overcome the toughest challenges with a quiet determination. I have no idea how we would react to the same situation and I hope I never find out. God Bless America.

HELL YEAH!!! -
Does anyone think that McGinest hit Manning around the head on his sack? Seems to me that everytime I saw that last year it was a flag.

I am so bitter right now that I hope that
CircleTheWagons replied to taterhill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ahhh, the BIG game. Remember the Colts won 2 playoff games last year without punting in either. I think a playoff game is bigger than going 0-1 to start the season - ask the Pats. I don't like Manning, but I had to hear how the Bills could never win a big game for too many years. -
According to NFL.COM Hopefully it will be on the Sunday Ticket.

Looks like Jerry Sullivan is at it again...
CircleTheWagons replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe we can get the author listed on the TBD headlines, even better if we could have an "ignore" option for Sullivan -
Ok, maybe we started the haikus a little early last year, we probably should have waited until AFTER Miami, but that week going into the Fish game was the best time to be a Bills fan in several years - confidence with a dash of arrogance. So when do we get that feeling back, or are we too worried about prodding the bear this year? Personally, if we get out of first 6 games with 4W or better, I'll be feeling pretty good and may have to post a haiku or two. I know that the late part of our schedule is considered tough, but 4 wins after our first run through the division with a new coach will be a major accomplishment No haikus 'til then, but when teams fear Buffalo, more poems on the Wall.

Canada 0 - Slovakia 0 after one
CircleTheWagons replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nope - but if you have Shaw Digital, Sunday Ticket is only CDN$80 for the whole season. Sunday Ticket makes sense for me now that all 3 of my boys (six, four, and two) have Bills jerseys and can chant "squish the fish". I never miss the games and I get to play football with my boys at halftime. -

4-0 Good guys after 2. -
I don't know what the f'ing options are against people who take children as hostages. My guess is that most hostage negotiation strategies ASSUME that the hostage takers want to make it out alive rather than die for the glory of their God. If there is a better approach than storming the school, I haven't heard it. I'm hoping that a couple of these idiots get captured and handed over to the parents - any other death is too easy.

Attention Bledsoe Bashers
CircleTheWagons replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My biggest concern is still with Drew being able to make quick decisions. When our defense gets pushed in preseason it's because we are using vanilla packages - well aren't the other teams using vanilla packages against Drew? I want to see Drew respond while being blitzed with disguised coverages before I believe he will be better than last year. I assume we're hitting him with everything in practise, but Jax will be the first test for the veteran quarterback. I'm worried that Clements and Wyche might "swing the pendulum" too far the other way and Drew will be too quick to move to his outlet receiver. Jax will test this and use a couple of zone blitzes hoping Drew throws the ball into the chest of a defensive end when he's hurried. -
HUGE dilemma...need some advice

Perhaps it's time for a "Things for a married guy to do on a Saturday Night in Atlanta before a big Bills game" thread.
