(OT) Thoughts on 2004 ALCS
CircleTheWagons replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's kind of funny because I ask other fans the opposite question (making the same point) -Why do you watch baseball when the Yankees have 4 times your payroll? I refuse to blame a team for working within the existing system to try and win. Good for the Yanks, fugg the Broncos for messing with the cap in the NFL. I was a huge baseball fan in the 70s and early 80s. Then I started to watch my team lose all its best players every year and I started losing interest. This year, I lost my baseball team and I don't even care -
(OT) Thoughts on 2004 ALCS
CircleTheWagons replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to kick you when you're down, but I don't get how you don't get the money issue It's not that the Yankees can buy the Series but they simply pay for the right to be in the playoffs every year. After that anything can happen. Fans almost everywhere else in the majors understand that when their team's best player's contract is up, he's moving on, probably to the Yankees. Yankee fans always talk about their "home-grown" talent and I admit they have a lot. They are also one of the select few that get to keep their own players that turn out and get rid of the mistakes. Other teams have to live with their mistakes, George pays to eliminate them. I'm not anti-Yankees - I would do exactly what they are doing if I could, but over the last decade I've become far less interested in baseball because they allow the Yanks to continue to dominate year after year. -
If you guys haven't tried the ignore button, give it a try. This place has become a lot more reasonable in the last few weeks as my ignored users list grows. It's very easy to see posts from ignored users with a single click and it's also easy to remove users from the ignore list. I don't mind reading different views, it's the "look at me" posters that I don't have to bother with any more.

Sorry To Have Offended Some Of You
CircleTheWagons replied to R. Rich's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But isn't the JAFA in your sig typically a derogatory term (at least it is among my Kiwi friends during a rugby test ) Why don't we just delete the thread - it's probably against the TOS anyway. By the way I agree that it's impressive for R. Rich to step up and apologize. I don't think anyone who reads the board regularly could question his character. -
One Game Playoff-Red Sox vs Yankees
CircleTheWagons replied to T-Bone's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a former Expos fan (former in a couple of ways ) I just want to say good luck to both the Yanks and Sox and thanks for some memorable ball. For the sake of all of us with diminished attention spans, please keep the innings to under 30 minutes each. Lets PLAY BALL! -
Guess who's tied with Bledsoe as sack leader
CircleTheWagons replied to NanaAnna's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does that mean that every single Falcons player is better than every Bills player, just quarterbacks, just starting quaterbacks, front office, what? Next year, maybe the Bills should only draft players from an undefeated team in Division 3, after all the team's record is the only stat that matters. I'm glad football analysis became so simple - I used to try and look at players objectively and determine their strengths and weaknesses taking into consideration the players they play with or compete against. I even had a few good discussions on this board about some Bills. All I really needed to know was the Teams won-loss record and everything else is mute. Thanks. -
What will be remembered more?
CircleTheWagons replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Sox had lost last night, it would have just been a typical Red Sox season. Now, if they don't win it all, it's going to rank up there as one of their greatest failures since '18. It's either, come back from 3-0 only to lose it in 7 or perform the greatest comeback in the history of baseball in the ALCS only to lose the World Series. If they win it all, the 2004 Sox will be legendary, with Schilling leading the way. To the Sox fans: "Where would you rather be, than right here, right now." -

(ot) Interesting comments about GW in DC
CircleTheWagons replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's quite possible that my memory is shot, but I thought Belichek NEVER accepted the NYJ job, they just assumed he would take it when the opportunity came up. I'm not a big BB supporter, but I don't remember him looking too bad after that one. -
What Is Up With The "Wind Thing"
CircleTheWagons replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this was covered a couple of weeks ago. If you win the toss, you can choose an end to defend, or to kickoff or receive - not both. The other team gets the same choice in the second half. Buffalo could have chosen the wind for the 4th quarter, but Miami would have the choice to kickoff or receive, probably receiving the ball to start both halves. -
Where's is the teatotalling brit?
CircleTheWagons replied to VABills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Damn Englishman. I'm still wondering if "Met the Queen" is a really good Brit euphemism. If it's not, it should be. What could "Met the Queen" really mean? 1. Ran into Elton John / George Michaels / Alaska Darin (rumor says) 2. Too much to drink and "Met the Queen" like we talk to God on the porcelain telephone. 3. Outwitted at work (I imagine it wouldn't be good to "meet the queen" in a chess match) 4. Went to a play (similar to Number 1) 5. Came into some money (the queen is on lots of currency around the world) 6. Accidently ran into a female boss OR the wife 7. Any booze have a picture of the queen? Wake up Nick, enquiring minds want to know -
(OT)Anyone want to look at my securitypresentation
CircleTheWagons replied to Fezmid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great job Fezmid! I'm a pretty big MS supporter and I haven't always agreed with some of your recommendations on the forum, but this presentation is solid and very professional. Only one thing I would add - in the backups I didn't see a mention of what should be backed up (you mentioned the files types but not the location). I usually recommend that users stick with "My Documents" for all of their files and then only back up that directory. It also makes it easier if you need to use the Files and Settings transfer wizard. Good luck with the class - I think your slides flow very well and your audience will appreciate it. -
Gamblers - is that time of the week again
CircleTheWagons replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any opinions on Denver -1.5 @ Oakland? I don't have a good read on either of these teams this year and I don't follow either team. My gut tells me Plummer has a bad week in Oakland and da Raiders stuff the run to win this game. Anyone? -
GOOD MORNING Josh - how's the head As appealing as the invite sounds... I'm still trying to make my 3 boys (6, 4, and 2) Bills fans on Sundays (anyone think this is unethical - putting your 3 boys in Bledsoe jerseys and setting them up for a life of heartbreak ) I will be at Schanks south for our game against the Patsies and I'll happily join in a couple of drinks celebrating JPs first victory.

(OT) To those here at TBD who are "Managers"
CircleTheWagons replied to IndyMark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mark, I'm not sure what kind of skills you're looking for, but if they're skilled hires (i.e. software development or engineers) I would push back on the time frame - 10 weeks is too short. My first step would be to build an "org chart" for your staff. It's unrealistic to think that you will be able to properly manage 30 immediate staff, my typical recommendation is no more that 6-10 direct employees (again depending on the skills required). If I was in your position, I would focus on hiring the team leaders first, probably a senior (works beside you) and 3 to 4 team leads. Once you have your senior team of 4-5 hires, work together to build the rest of the team using the team leads to help with the interviews and fill out the positions. Having the leads when you're hiring the rest of the staff helps reinforce everyone's position on the team. Prepare to find out at least one of your team leads won't cut it and keep looking for potential leads through the hiring process. You will probably find 2-3 guys you wish you hired with the team leads and they can help as your structure fills out. Keep your management informed. Hiring 30 staff is high risk. so always keep your managers aware of the challenges and your proposed solutions. Good luck. -
the Freakin' Dolphins on Sunday
CircleTheWagons replied to Fencesitter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
AMEN IT'S THE FREAKIN' DOLPHINS on Sunday -
Grudging respect to the Titans. They had more questionable calls go against them than I can remember in a single game - it was like they were wearing Bills jerseys They found a way to beat the Pack and the refs despite starting the season behind the eight ball. I still can't believe the Titans pick that was REVERSED in the end zone.

If we could just beat the Jets Sunday...we are OK!

Who is going to the bills jests game
CircleTheWagons replied to njsue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This sounds so good I'm tempted to look for a cheap flight from Calgary just for the tailgate. That and to say I was there for the 2004 Bills turnaround game. TGIF. -
Losman practising anyone?
CircleTheWagons replied to CircleTheWagons's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nah, Jesus could only walk, JP was jogging. -
Not because he's going to save the season, but I thought he was scheduled to practise this week. I can't find any news. Anyone, anyone, Bueller?

I've posted previously that I have agreed with TD on almost every decision he's made, so I'm not bashing him. Do you think he puts too much emphasis on irrelevant intangibles, such as "will this guy squak to the press?" or "will he be a good role model?" or "will he question my authority?" or "Will this guy hold out?" I think we have a solid organization from top to bottom with as few player problems as almost anyone in the league. WHO CARES! Maybe these intangibles led to drafting Mike Williams over McKinnie and perhaps a few others. Is it important to have a "quality" organization or is winning the only thing? I used to think "how you play" was important, now I just want the Bills to be winners. If that makes TD's job tougher, well, that's why he gets the big bucks.

How's Mularkey lookin'?
CircleTheWagons replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We should have hired Gibbs I know your questions were rhetorical, but I think players do play better for some coaches and MAYBE some coaches get more respect from the officials. My feeling on the Bills is that we can compete until the critical points in games, and then we can't match our opponents intensity and execution when it matters most -what lots of people here are calling "playing small". I agree that it's too early to be overly critical of the coaching staff, but I think "playing small" is a reflection on the team's preparation and the coaching staff. -
Why chain McGahee to the bench????
CircleTheWagons replied to Peter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you're right, then we should see more WM against the Jets. My gut tells me that Mularkey doesn't think McGahee is physically ready yet.
