  1. I haven't been following much of this, but I as I have said in other threads a few weeks back, you can easily do a "soft" rebuild the next year or 2. Let TT go, move on from Kyle, Graham and other players that are getting older (This could be Hughes, Wood, Richie) in the next 2-3 years by start drafting replacements now and be smart with your signings and cap commitments. You have a chance to go BPA, free up cap space and then if you take a step back this year; you may be able to give up a bit less to go grab your QB. We aren't close to the Browns thankfully. Honestly with good coaching you might be at 6 wins anyways.
  2. If you go Brees or Romo; load up and renegotiate contracts to give you cap space and a window for the next 3 years. If not; use the savings to resign Woods as you suggest, resign Gilmore & draft WR/S/T in RD1/2/3 and punt the high QB pick to next year. What you end up with is a garbage QB like Foles/Hoyer for a couple seasons and I bet we are still a 6-7 win team. TT with his contract and a little less talent will still be a 6-7 win team IMO...
  3. So I looked myself when you look at a quarter by quarter breakdown: 1 2 3 4 OT Final Buff 78 99 110 112 0 399 Opp 79 125 97 94 3 398 We are a .500 team. We were basically tied at the end of the first, we would fall behind at the half 204-177, by the end of the 3rd we were behind 301-287 and the 4th is where it gets interesting and that is where you need to look at garbage time numbers we scored: NYJ 7 (1:22 left), Mia 8 (0:19s left + 2pts), Pats 8 (0:33s left + 2pts), NYJ 7 (0:43s left). I will leave SF out of this example: Q4 = 112pts - 30 garbage time points = 82 pts in Q4 1 2 3 4 OT Final Buff 78 99 110 82 0 369 Opp 79 125 97 94 3 398 So going into Q4, with the garbage time adjustments; we didn't keep pace with scoring in the 4th... Also the 49ers game, we scored 21 in the 4th. If you want to take that out the numbers look like this: 1 2 3 4 OT Final Buff 78 99 110 61 0 348 Opp 79 125 97 94 3 398 The games were generally over by the half and by the end of the 3rd we were done. Yes the D stunk, but the offense didn't keep pace in the 4th quarter... I wonder what our TOP and 3 and outs looked like quarter by quarter...
  4. not trying to be that guy, but offense is very uninspiring thus far...yuck
  5. This is just an early ranking; there will be some movement, but if it is solely based off of game play - there shouldn't be too much movement since the games are over. I get nervous when you here so and so is moving up because of interviews, combines or pro-days etc. There will always be some discussion points on players and when compared between various people there will be a little difference as well. What worries me with the QBs this year is that there are 5 teams with a need; once one goes it could easily start the panic mode and reaching...I don't see Mahomes as a first round guy unless there is a reach or if the top 3 which we all agree on who they are, are gone. Once one (Trubisky, Kizer, or Watson) goes, IMO, the other QB needy teams will panic for the next 2 and the remaining 2 teams will be jockeying for Kayaa/Mahomes. I just have the feeling this year that there will be panic and a scramble for the QBs. The Browns need a QB, 49ers need a QB, Chi may pass, but they need a QB, the Jets need a QB, we need a QB.
  6. So this is interesting, but with the offense you should adjust for our garbage time scores as (BisonMan pointed out) and also account for us blowing out the 49ers as those artificially increase our ppg and ultimately paint a different picture of our prolific offense. We often look at data to further prove our points, rather than look at everything in it's totality. The Defense was not good enough, but the offense really wasn't either. Out of our points scored, were there differences in points before half and after the half, what was it like in the 4th quarter; along with TOP. I have ahunch that when we really dig into the offense, the data will show that it also wasn't as rosey and great as everyone thinks it was....
  7. This is our exercise every year in the offseason; if we just kicked another FG or made that one play....
  8. You are also assuming that they spend = or more money on a QB. I would expect them to short it with a $7-$10 million option. Also if Kyle retires, that is another spot that needs to be filled; hopefully Washington/Worthy can fill it. We had 24 FAs; just to re-sign/replace them will take a good chunk of cap; and that will be without upgrading the talent....It really isn't that much money...
  9. This is why I am more towards the blow it up and let TT go; the money is too damn tight. To try build around TT this next year and expect better results; with a whole new coaching staff, plus I would anticipate a few more holes on the roster thinks we push and still hit 7-9 or 8-8 and we end up in the same place after next season with Kyle, Graham, Richie, Wood, Hughes et al. getting a year older...But to stay on topic with this thread... At #10 we have to draft an impact player (WR,CB,S - Hooker/Adams) or be prepared to develop a QB; who won't start week 1. Do you trade back and hope to grab a QB, if one is there, or do you draft your guy to make sure Chi, SF, CLE, or NYJ don't trade back in front of us? In round 2 it is almost a certainty that QBs go to those teams...You also might be able to mitigate CB, if you re-sign Gilmore - otherwise we are simply filling a hole and not improving. Edge Rusher would be nice and might very well be BPA for us; not sure it is really a need though and that is where it gets tough - take BPA or trade back and hope you don't lose your guy....
  10. Mike Rodak ‏@mikerodak 59s59 seconds ago Rex Ryan stripped the Bills' colors off his truck and replaced them with -- you guessed it -- Clemson logos: http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18497462/former-buffalo-bills-coach-rex-ryan-truck-now-adorned-clemson-logos In addition to removing the Bills' colors from his truck, Ryan also put his house on the market Tuesday. The nine-bathroom Orchard Park, New York home is listed at $1.1 million and spans 6,511 square feet. Ryan bought the property for $975,000 in 2015.
  11. Tim Horton Argh! I thought I was first...
  12. Cleveland is in a good position with honestly a pretty stacked draft. I think you outlined out their draft fairly well actually. I really wanted Hooker, but he will be gone way before us at #10. I expect a QB to get drafted before our pick @10, but if Kizer is there I honestly would not be surprised; I am not in love with him though...
  13. Andrew Brandt: "2) Full disclosure: I have known Sean McDermott for some time, worked with him when I consulted with the Eagles, and talked to him in this hiring process. Having said that, the Bills got a gem. Sean is smart, self-motivated, even keeled and driven to succeed. And he will." #1 was funny - 1) "So Tom Coughlin is joining the Jaguars in an executive role along with an existing general manager and an incoming coach just elevated from interim status, neither of whom Coughlin has worked with before. What could possibly go wrong?" http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2017/01/17/nfl-los-angeles-rams-los-angeles-chargers-oakland-raiders-las-vegas-relocations
  14. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000775479/article/daniel-jeremiahs-top-50-prospects-for-2017-nfl-draft?campaign=tw-cf-sf51362710-sf51362710&utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral Garret Rated #1 Hooker #2 Hooker is a tall, rangy safety prospect with incredible instincts. He usually lines up as the high safety and he has an uncanny ability to anticipate throws, drive on the ball, and finish. He is ultra-fluid in his change of direction and has the ability to match up with tight ends in man coverage. He has the best ball skills of any safety I've ever evaluated in college. He is also a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Against the run, he is quick to key, read and fill the alley. He does have some fly-by missed tackles, but overall he's reliable in this area. Hooker has the potential to be one of the league's best safeties very early in his NFL career. Kizer QB #15, Kizer has a big, sturdy frame for the position and above-average athleticism. He operates from the shotgun and is very comfortable playing inside the pocket. He holds the ball shoulder high and has a nice, smooth throwing motion. He can make every throw with minimum strain. He can drive the ball into tight windows and he flashes the touch to make intermediate throws over linebackers and under safeties. He does have some mechanical issues at times, falling off throws, which can affect his ball placement. I love his poise in the pocket but he needs to speed up his clock at times. He takes some unnecessary sacks. When he does decide to run, he has sneaky quickness and can power through tacklers to pick up extra yardage. He racked up 18 rushing touchdowns over his two seasons as a starter. Overall, Kizer isn't a finished product but he has all of the desired tools to eventually develop into a solid starting NFL quarterback. Trubisky #31 Trubisky, a junior, was only a one-year starter for the Tar Heels. He has average height and a thick, square build for the position. He operates in the shotgun and has quick feet in his setup. He has excellent pocket feel and awareness. He has a dip-whip delivery and he generates enough velocity to make all of the necessary throws. He is an anticipation thrower who shows the ability to read the entire field. His accuracy is good, but not great. He has some easy misses on simple underneath throws. He is a very good athlete and throws well on the move to both sides. He is effective on designed QB runs. Overall, Trubisky doesn't have a lot of experience but he has NFL starting ability. Watson #32 Watson has average height and a lean, muscular build for the position. He operates in the shotgun. I love his poise, playmaking ability and intangibles. He holds the ball by his ear and has a smooth, quick delivery. He has enough arm strength to make all of the throws. His accuracy has been very inconsistent, especially on the deep ball. He has some bad misses on tape. He does show the ability to quickly work through progressions and stay poised in the pocket. His decision-making has been another area that needs improvement. He really struggled with red-zone interceptions in his final season. He is a very effective runner. He is slithery to avoid tacklers and has shown outstanding toughness both as a runner and in the pocket. Overall, I think Watson has a lot of upside at the position but his accuracy issues and decision-making are concerns
  15. Joe Buscaglia ‏@JoeBuscaglia 50s50 seconds ago #Bills have hired former Rams offensive coordinator Rob Boras as the team's tight ends coach.
  16. I agree. I'm really not high on Olson at all - it is kinda of a schitty hire if we do offer him....
  17. Vic Carucci ‏@viccarucci 7s7 seconds ago #Bills scheduled to bring Greg Olson in for interview for OC job on Thursday. Appears #Chiefs co-OC Brad Childress is out of the picture.

  19. I have been trying to think what we would do about the QB position, just a thought I had last night. IMO the only offense I could see him in is the WCO.
  20. Trubisky will be long gone, but I could see us making a play for Brad Kayaa (not in RD1), especially if we end up with Childress or another WCO OC.
