  1. And this is what I have been saying for sometime, burn it all down; clean out all of Ralph's crap and start fresh. Doug should have gone with Rex and you could hit the reset button; this just kicks the can down the road a bit further where the next GM didn't choose McD as his coach. Clean house, dump TT, get rid of the older players (keep the core youth that we do have) eat a bad year with dead cap $, get a high pick next year and move on....We will see this play out 2 or three years from now most likely....
  2. Not so fast? http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2017/03/tyrod_taylor.html "When asked directly about whether he wanted Taylor Wednesday at the combine, McDermott responded: "We're going through that process right now and the thing about all of our players, and Tyrod's no different, is we're going to go through the process, we're going to exhaust every ounce of time, look at it from every angle. I think the thing you'll find out about me is I'm pretty methodical in my approach. And so it takes time and that's what's in front of us right now." That's tough to categorize as a ringing endorsement. He acknowledged on Wednesday that the evaluation of Taylor could go right up to the March 11 deadline to pick up his option. "We're going to be methodical in all of the decisions," McDermott said. "This position is critical. The quarterback position in the league is critical to the success of a football team and so we're going to take all the time necessary to make the right decision for this organization, both in the short and the longterm." "The process you look at is you look at it from all different angles and so you compare Tyrod based on the quarterback position, the intangibles we look for, the critical factors at the position and then, yes, you look at it from other areas as well and that being the candidates that are out there in the free agent market," McDermott said".
  3. According to TG, we don't scout underclassman.... This is true; NFL history is littered with examples of this...
  4. Well said! You also never know what you are going to get when you tank in the NFL, the highest rated player when you pick #1 might be a Guard and there may be no QBs that year. It is such a different beast when compared to the NHL & NBA...
  5. Lesean McCoyVerified account‏@CutonDime25 16m16 minutes ago Buffalo was so special ... thanks for everything https://www.instagram.com/p/BQ-vlHvjTCj/
  6. And you will end up with roughly the same number of wins, give or take a game. Why spend more money on that position for the same result? No need for Jmo; it is pretty much a fact...
  7. Which is why paying Tyrod to stay isn't really going to help this team at all. You can easily spend his cap hit on Foles/McCown (and end up with close to the same record with them as with TT) and use the difference to fill some of the roster holes (including either resigning Gilmore or letting him walk and maybe keep Woods instead).
  8. So that's why Tyrod couldn't throw over the middle or move faster than a slug during a 2-minute drill. It is all suddenly so clear!
  9. F k No; we are taking it back when we get a franchise QB next year; the AFC EAST will go back through Buffalo
  10. This makes sense with the added context that he wanted to see his son play ball every chance he got. Also makes sense why didn't resign; might as well take the money too!
  11. And this is the correct reason for moving on. Ultimately you still end up at the same place; not good enough at the QB position. you maybe lose what 2 less games next year, so the f what you are picking higher in the draft(3rd-8th) and the cost to get a QB will be a bit cheaper than the (10th-15th). With the $15 million you save you can upgrade so many other positions, fill holes and position yourself to have some good weapons for a rookie QB. Keep TT and the team will have much less overall talent. The best outcome with keeping TT is the Dolphins this year; the worst is well how we finished. That is the 22nd pick vs the 10th pick; that's a big difference IMO Which is why you move on this year, shore up the rest of the team and clean up cap space this year. Draft WRs to grow and make your trade up next year. Just hope that CLE/SF takes a QB this year because they will be drafting #1 again most likely.
  12. and his inaccuracy will cause Sammy (and the other WRs yet to be signed/drafted) to get injured trying to catch balls that place them in harms way....
  13. You forgot to mention #1 in Rushing and #30 in Passing - when you are down points do you run the ball or pass the ball? What was our passing game like when we were behind in score? You need to look at the entire picture and not the cherry picked stats to prove a the point you are hoping to make... We will be worse next year on offense (provided we don't end up with Luck, Brady, Stafford, Rivers, Brees, Ryan et al.). We are a one dimensional offense with TT as QB...
  14. I deal with statistical analysis all day and yes there are times you really need them and times you simply do not. Advanced stats in football is a very difficult proposition since they cannot account for the position by position interaction that is required in this sport. For me I'm not even emotional (I really hoped and wanted TT to solve the QB problem btw), he has not shown that he can help us win when we are down. I also have not blamed him for all of the team's problems (our Defense stinks, as do our STs). It is also true that we have a very imbalanced offense; if you shut down the run game - we sure as hell aren't passing to catch back up. Your last line basically sums up all I need to know....
  15. You don't even need the rankings; it is apparent simply watching the game...
  16. While yes, advanced stats are nice, they can be misleading at times; if you look around online even FO (Schatz) admits this. This is not an invitation to get into a dissertation over this btw. You are clearly biased in our opinion that TT should stay, as you have indicated all over the place, and look to point this out at every chance you get - yes we have one helluva a juggernaut offense, just remember that DVOA had Miami ranked as the 6th best team in the NFL during this season. There is not one stat that is above all, you need to look at more than just one; I also know the advanced stat lovers see them as the only way to account for things and they love to throw them out as the end all be all's. You don't need anything overly exotic in order to see that we scored 30 garbage time points in the last few minutes of the game where the defense was trying to get us to bleed the clock down, as you recall our 2 minute offense is not that fast; we could be counted on to move at a paltry pace and wind the clock down when the game was out of hand for us. We simply were not able to score when we needed to at the end of the game. Again, I know this is an typical "bs-style" argument against advanced stats, but for christ sakes - watch the games. Why do you think the TV announcers indicate that once we are down 4 points, TT only led us back now twice. That's a fact.
  17. First of all great post, you put a lot of time and effort into it! You laid out a lot of reasons for staying course and yes the offense was much better than it has been in a long time; additionally yes the defense stunk the joint up as well. When you look at the the quarter by quarter scoring totals this year: You see this and it looks pretty good: 1 2 3 4 OT Final Buff 78 99 110 112 0 399 Opp 79 125 97 94 3 398 Now when we dig a little deeper, we have this: We were basically tied at the end of the first, we would fall behind at the half 204-177( 27 points less), by the end of the 3rd we were behind 301-287 (14 points less) and the 4th is where it gets interesting and that is where you need to look at garbage time numbers we scored: NYJ - 7 (1:22 left), Mia - 8 (0:19s left + 2pts), Pats - 8 (0:33s left + 2pts), NYJ - 7 (0:43s left). Q4 = 112pts - 30 garbage time points = 82 pts in Q4 1 2 3 4 OT Final Buff 78 99 110 82 0 369 Opp 79 125 97 94 3 398 Now the picture is a little bit different. But there is a bit more... So going into Q4, with the garbage time adjustments; we didn't keep pace with scoring in the 4th and that hurt us A LOT. Now if you look at the SF game in particular, we scored 21 in the 4th; which is uncharacteristic for us and we were pouring it on; they scored 0 points in the 4th. If you adjust for that (94-61 = 33 points less), our scoring now looks like this in Q4: 1 2 3 4 OT Final Buff 78 99 110 61 0 348 Opp 79 125 97 94 3 398 I haven't looked, but I do wonder what out TOP was, the number of drives and 3 and out percentage Q by Q. Regardless, I ask the question - was our offense really that good?
  18. To suggest a rebuild, one must have something built in the first place. I don't see us as having built anything other than shove x player into y position. There is no indication that anything was built, more like a bunch of tires thrown on top of each other randomly....
