THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Ramblings of a Madman
Reed83HOF replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hughes, TT & possibly Shady for starters. Shady is not going to stick around for this rebuild and it is a shame if we keep him here, he deserves better and to move to a team that can win it all. Lorax, Brown, Wood and it wouldn't surprise me to see Glenn go as well seeing he cannot seem to stay healthy. Clay as well.... jw tossed this out earlier this year - this reminded him of the 2000 tear down. Not a total gut and rebuild, but a roster churn while attempting to be competitive. I don't see us getting high picks for these players, but more mid to later rounds we can use to fill spots or parlay into moving up higher in the 2nd and 3rd... The goal/plan all along has been to turn the roster over while not going throw a browns style rebuild; it won't been done all in 1 offseason. Personally I would have torn it all down at once and ripped the band-aid off. There was a small window for this team, but that was gone once we got Rexy... This will be a much different roster in the next year or 2...the playoff team will have very few of these players on it (Hyde & White might be the only 2 starters remaining) -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Ramblings of a Madman
Reed83HOF replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was a total rebuild from the beginning; a way to clean up the cap to start fresh. We traded a bunch of people for 2018 draft picks, and cleared cap commitments. There are some dead cap hits next season and more players to jettison for 2019 picks and and even better cap situation with very manageable dead $. I'm not expecting a lot in FA this offseason either; just enough to turn the roster... -
I have zero faith in Dennison being able to develop a QB...

Who starts next week: Taylor or Peterman?
Reed83HOF replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Goes to show this team is a bigger mess than most everyone either realized or wanted to admit. The defense overachieved and came back down to what their talent level really is - not good. Lawson is not a pass rusher, Kyle is old; Dareus didn't care (his replacements blow); Hughes is Hughes; Lorax, Humber & Brown not great LBs; DBs - Hyde, White, Gaines & Poyer are good, and the rest are trash. The offense is what it always has been - terrible OL: Glenn when healthy is good, Richie is good but aging, Wood is serviceable but aging, the right side has been a disaster forever; RBs after Shady horrendous he is aging as well; TE Clay cannot stay healthy, backups aren't great - QB & WRs get their own section QB - TT keeps plays alive because of his ability to duck, dodge, spin and wiggle free - we all see it way too many times each game, it is both an indictment of him missing open WRs and not throwing WRs open and the awful OL. It isn't sustainable. It's also an indictment of awful game planning. Peterman is a rookie playing behind an awful OL against a team with Ingram and Bosa, of course they were going to blitz and force him into errors. Especially with an unhealthy & thin WR corp and a game plan that didn't give him any free outlets to cool the pass rush. No Matthews, Benjamin going out quickly did not help Nate either. In any event, neither of them a starter material who will get you to the promised land. This team is devoid of talent and needs to be gutted. From the beginning this was a year to tear it down and that is what we have done with every move. The FO & McD have tried to make it less painful by keeping some players and jettisoning others. To dump everyone would have pissed off the fan base too much imo and that is why it wasn't geared towards getting rid of everyone, plus you still actually have to put players on the field. Best way to get better is clear cap space and accumulate picks which is what we have done. Expect to see more players let go this offseason for more picks in 2019. . This team has had a bad roster for a long time, with players begin drafted and signed to patchwork a team together under ever-changing schemes and coaches. This year honestly should be about eradicating the stench and starting the rebuild... -
Cap situation without Tyrod next year

Ian RapoportVerified account @RapSheet On #Bills QB Tyrod Taylor: Do not assume they decline Taylor's $6M option in 2018 and move on. His salary is manageable and they believe he'll have trade value, I'm told. Expect them to explore that market before making any moves. -
Are we able to get anything for Tyrod?

What's your reaction if Peterman is terrible this Sunday

I know the frustration and frankly it is embarrassing...Don't get me wrong if we get in and get trounced that's fine. I wasn't suggesting a tank btw... -

Meh. F- the drought. At this point, with our roster, the better the chance we have at getting blue chippers the better of we will be long term. The playoff drought has nothing to do with this current team, it is what it is. I can't get excited to make the playoffs and get trounced in round 1. What I want is them to play hard and be as competitive as their talent allows them to be and be in a position to draft the best available players... -

Totally understand why Kraft would make that call; also he is 40 the end is very near. I think I recall Polian calling JG the best QB in that draft.... -

USA Today: Bills Defying Expectations
Reed83HOF replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have had those thoughts as well. However, there is a looooong road ahead with aging players (finding replacements), expiring contracts and the lack of depth - so I'm not trying to get to giddy. That being said, let's hope we nail these 6 picks -

Schopp: Taylor is better than you think.
Reed83HOF replied to JM2009's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am a pretty harsh critic of TT (I wanted McCown over him this offseason); he has played really well this year, especially yesterday. He has improved from where he was last year and the year before. Throughout this season, he has made some tough throws, lead us back when we were down, lead a 5+ minute clock chew in the 4th, hit WRs, TEs, RBs over the middle with accuracy, etc. - I tip my hat to him. Is he our longer term savior - who knows for sure? I do know this - he fits really well for what our team is right now and make the re-tooling more bearable and fun to watch. This is a point where we should just enjoy the wins and that the team is playing as a team - it is refreshing and enjoyable. -
