What’s your offer for WR Jerry Jeudy?
Reed83HOF replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean I'm on the 2nd for DHop train, but Jeudy is that younger rd1 WR we want. I want a younger WR, but where we are with the offense, a new WR coach a still green OC, I want a guy who has been in the league a few years to step into #2 right now. -

Jets pursuit of Rodgers is fueling bills offseason focus
Reed83HOF replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
It means almost nothing at this point, all we know thus far is we took Bijan out to dinner. I can read it as building the OL and keeping him off the field. But I can also read it for the otherside of the ball and that does not make me happy... I do think it is likely he heard things and rumblings that aren't out there. It is also likely he is riling up the fanbase... Just trying to provide what is out there in twitterverse,l. Deciphering this is like trying to figure out Diggs's tweets -

As an executive: Seattle Seahawks (1983–1989) Pro personnel assistant Seattle Seahawks (1990–1994) Pro personnel director Seattle Seahawks (1995–1999) Vice president of football operations New Orleans Saints (2000–2001) General manager Miami Dolphins (2005–2007) General manager Los Angeles Chargers (2008–2018) Senior executive for football operations Salt Lake Stallions (2018–2019) General manager Houston Roughnecks (2020) Director of pro personnel Seattle Sea Dragons (2022–present) Director of player personnel He was in NFL FOs for quite a while. I'm not putting much of anything into his tweet, but he does likely still has contacts and hears things. It’s not like he is a social media influencer or someone trying get a foot in by posting bs stuff with no connections anywhere... -

Is there any defensive player you'd be happy with at pick 27?
Reed83HOF replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
27 in the draft is rough with what our needs are. A few thoughts on this... 1.) How much will the rookie play and what impact is reasonably expected from the player and their position in year 1? The contributions may come later and not what the fans expect (immediate impact). Playing OL, TE and WR in the league do take some time to get up and going, WR not necessarily as much as in the past. 2.) Beane will fill most holes in the roster before the draft, he does it every year. 3.) Younger guy with top athletic traits are our first round targets under Beane. Usually have a vet they work behind before they get in the starting group. 4.) Wr with 3 level ability and having a diverse route tree is what our trait has to be, pass catchers alone are not enough. I tend to think WR 2 is obtained via trade (Cortland Sutton) or UFA (OBJ) rather than rd1. I'd see us moving around in rd2 to grab a WR and not as much in rd1, jmo... 5.)Beane won't force the pick and that still leave Bijan on the table (provided the no RB in rd1 still apllies) and this is a good draft for TE talent - that might be the position with the highest board ratings around this pick. That being said we just signed Knox to a not cheap deal and how often will we realistically run 2 TE sets and how many targets do you expect them to get? Will a TE be a 3 level target and take the top off the D and help free up Diggs? I just don't see it here... 6.) I look at coaching and McD, there is good amount of comfort and confidence with this team in developing D talent from within, aside from Allen, I don't see much of it from that side of the ball. Perhaps our new WR coach changes that? I still don't buy it, we went out and got diggs for a first to immediately hop in and help josh, I somewhat expect the same thing there is year and some cap maneuvering to make it happen. Same applies to the OL. Mid round developmental prospects. Our D will change this year. When Sean was talking about cap spending vs positional value, I do expect the see some changes to the amount of cash tied up in DL, which leads me to believe a pick on the DL in rd1 is not out of the question. I go back to the past couple drafts and I'd say where we didn't maybe do enough was to try to get a year ahead and draft guys aa year early based on expiring contracts. You get the year of development (like cook) and aren't pigeonholed as much as we seemingly are this year and with the dl heavy draft 2 years ago.... -
Leslie Frazier "taking a year off from coaching" per Bills PR
Reed83HOF replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
McD was very involved in the Bengals game, he was down on his knee talking to the defense after the second td while Frazier stood there. He had the tablet there and was showing them what he was seeing and coaching them up l. The next defensive series it sure looked like Sean was calling plays from my vantage point.... My vantage point was sitting on the 25 yard line about 10 rows from the field...a bunch of us who were non player family members keyed in on this... -
TLDR, Not in favor of trying to fill 4 positions on the OL instead of 3, but we should have drafted his replacement 1 to 2 drafts ago just based on his injury history. This goes for any position we draft this year, don't expect any meaningful contributions from them in 2023. Look at how slowly rookies play, McD will have to change that mindset...

Perhaps Kromer is overrated as an OLine coach?
Reed83HOF replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kromer has a history of having good OLs, including in his previous go around here. You can't live in reputation forever, but these players were brought in under Bobby Johnson's reign (who doesn't have the pedigree of Kromer), so player fit and skillset does become an issue... -
This is why I'm meh about WR as well and not to beat that dead horse, but something was obviously off with a certain WR now on NYG. I tend to wonder how well our scouts and our coaches can identify and develop talent on the offensive side of the ball. Saffold came with kromer, which makes sense and I thought he might have a little left in the tank. It feels like the way Sean and Beane set this team up is to draft and develop the defense, assuming he trusts those coaches and is his strong suit & to sign stop gap vets on offense, we really haven't seen much to challenge this. Now whether that is do to a core philosophy or not having enough faith and trust is beyond me. I do know that when it comes to WRs under Daboll, having them know and able to use a full route tree, was a key trait we wanted, hence always vets there. I get what your saying about Morse and the cap reallocation, but he has been really good for us and I'm thinking that with the cap situation we have it may be best to keep him and Bates and swing harder at 1 OG spot and it sure sounds like RT, which we have been searching for for 25 years...

Bills Coaching Staff Changes Thread
Reed83HOF replied to hellofellowbillsfans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Intermittently, I actually for some reason wanted to watch the game lol. Shakir's, family Quentin Morse 's, Edmunds family and I want to say Oliver's fam was right to me left or in front of me. Had to be careful who I called schitty during the game. Lol This is why I'm not as on edge about McD yet, he cared and was doing what I would expect a coach to do. The question to answer about him is to understand when he hits his ceiling and is he one of the guys who can get you there or never will. To me next season will be more telling. That second scoring drive as they approached the end zone, we could see him flipping through the play sheet, I'm assuming as Frazier was calling it in. He was frantically flipping and looking for something. After the score he got them all together on the end of the bench closest to us, got down on a knee an assistant brought the tablet over and he was coaching them up, Leslie was just standing there next to him. That following series, it sure looked very apparent he was calling the plays, as he was flipping through the sheet and talking into his mic, Leslie was just standing there next to him it didn't appear he was calling anything in and certainly was not looking at the play chart. Sean didn't call the rest of the game and, like a good fan in critical situations I was screaming my ass of trying to get the flame start lol. I noticed that on that third series probably 2 or 3 plays and then only picked up 3 or 4 times the rest of the game. He didn't go back to coach them up again.
