  1. A QB's best friend is a reliable TE with hands. Henry is injury prone, so I almost have him off my list. I'm not sure ATL guts their roster to save Hooper, who has not heard about an extentions from the Falcons as of yet.... The Falcons aren’t in cap hell after restructuring Grady Jarrett and Matt Ryan’s deals to free up some space, but they still barely have enough cap space to pay their entire rookie class, much less free agents. That cash will have to come from veterans with sizeable contracts, for better or for worse. Other cuts may be necessary to free up room but come with more readily apparent costs. There’s no one on the roster or in the locker room ready to replace Ricardo Allen, for example, and there’s no center-in-waiting if the Falcons move on from Alex Mack. If the team has some priority free agents in mind or really want to pony up for Hooper and Campbell, they may have to saw to the bone to do so.
  2. can't argue with any of this -it is beyond the smart move and dramatically improves our passing game for a $3 million/year raise
  3. 100% I really think Yannick is the pass rush target and RT could be had in the 30s to 40s if we don't sign Conklin. There looks like there could be some good safety depth in RD3 as well.
  4. It's so hard to say this early - there are good WR prospects throughout and we will probably take 2. You have the prospects tier within the WR group if let's say the top 5 are tier 1 and the next tier has 4 - what is the deference between the tiers? If the top tier is gone before 22 - is it a talent reach to go to tier 2 or do you go to the next position group? I think Beane would make the slight move up to grab one of the top tier WRs, but he won't give away next year's #1. It will be an Edmunds style trade and past history tells us it will be the freakish athlete who has a super high ceiling...
  5. We are not taking an Edge in RD1, the class isn't good enough and the top 2 will be gone before our pick. The LTs will be gone before 22 and are a couple good RTs that can be had probably in the 30-40 range. I really don't see us spending pick 22 on a CB either and I certainly do not see us trading back, we need blue chip talent - we have enough role players. I could see a modest move into the mid to late teens if there is a run on the WRs (we would need to leap frog Philly and Oakland at 19). I would be shocked for a move up like Edmunds if Jeudy or Lamb fall past 8 or 9. After watching today's presser, Beane believes in building through the draft and paying our Core players which a true #1 WR would be; he won't give up next years #1, but he may give up this years 2 or 3 and our extra 5th and 6th rounders to acquire the WR he wants.
  6. Beane is really excellent - haven't felt this good about a GM since Polian
  7. I like how he talked about keeping the core together and that they wouldn't just change out players with similar skill sets - want upgrades in that regard and that the staffs (FO and coaching) will have very frank discussions
  8. Yeah I deleted it - it was a quick take, based on what he said first and then he walked it back a little bit...
  9. they wanted to (and did) turn the roster over and reset the cap
  10. It just depends on the overall cap situation at the time, the age of the player, quality of the CB draft class, other positional needs, etc. There are times you need to let them walk - ala Gilmore and Clements & times when you should keep them Winfield & Tre
  11. I can't even describe the emotions I went through watching that
  12. It is these issues that drive me up the wall with Daboll and to a degree McD for allowing it; this entire play with those 2 should not have been in there, just like having Gore in the game with 30 seconds left in the half. In these times you play your best players and the scrubs are on the bench; you just give a down away or allow for something terrible to happen. It's the same thing with bumbling the time at the end of the half over the course of the season in countless games, these things should never happen. It's maddening
  13. not the player you want out there in that situation....
