  1. I genuinely had these thoughts during the seasons. Your first point has some challenges associated with it: 1.) Have Allen get more reps against live defenses 2.) This could be one of the reasons we (IMO) stubbornly kept playing Ford at RT Are they willing to sacrifice winning a game and even costing ourselves "the season" in the name of development? 3.) Still doesn't explain the reliance on Gore and Yeldon being inactive once it was very apparent Gore was toast - Why take Devin out of the playoff game for Gore? It doesn't help his development 4.) With the season on the line in Houston why the hell are DiMarco and Lee Smith out there? Neither of them are going to make a play for Allen, rightfully so hero ball Josh came out in that instance... I get that it is a fine line and where you could maybe make a case for development over the long run - we do stupid things that fly in the face of that as well. Your last point I don't think anyone can argue about that. Making Allen play like Brady is not who he is and is a skill/scheme mismatch. But to a degree it makes sense if they are developing him for the long haul, since those are areas of weakness that he does need experience with. Again, we didn't really use what Josh is good at that much as well (conjecture as I don't feel like going to look up particular stats on plays)
  2. The issue is possibly tied to the PED era and other than certain players not being voted in the HOF, WS titles awards and player stats, box scores are all left the same
  3. If the money being doled out by Beckham was real, as Burrow said Tuesday, it would be a violation of NCAA bylaws. Cash is an example of impermissible benefits that are prohibited by the governing body. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/28490949/joe-burrow-says-browns-odell-beckham-jr-handed-real-cash-lsu-players NCAA Bylaw 12 contemplates the loss of a student-athlete’s eligibility to play if he or she accepts cash or an equivalent award. Schools, meanwhile, are obligated to undertake reasonable steps to prevent, monitor and, if necessary, address illicit payments. https://www.si.com/college/2020/01/16/odell-beckham-jr-money-lsu-players-consequences
  4. You forgot the word ***** Oops friggin or f-ing that usually precedes that team's name
  5. Day 2 guy according to Eric. I haven't made it this far in looking at WRs yet; just want to get the board checking him out
  6. South Carolina wide receiver Bryan Edwards is quite possibly the quietest, yet most productive, prospect you will come across in the 2020 NFL Draft. Edwards is leaving South Carolina with an array of school accolades, including: most consecutive games with a reception (48), career receptions (234) and career receiving yards (3,054). He also sits third in career touchdowns with 22, which is only one behind Sidney Rice and Alshon Jeffery. His 48 games with at least one reception means he caught a pass in every single game he played in at South Carolina! Believe it or not, Edwards ranks third in SEC history with 234 career receptions and fourth in the league all-time with 3,045 yards. “He never liked drawing any attention to himself, but his athleticism in itself drew attention to him,” Jordan stated. “He has a big frame and can go up and get the ball. He attacks the ball at the highest point.” “I’ve really been proud of Bryan the way he’s poured himself into the young receivers,” Bentley said. “I really think that’s something he’s really learned to do — to really give back to them, because he knows we’re only going to be as good as the rest of the guys, too. I think he’s doing whatever he can do help them along the way, as well.” That is the type of DNA the Bills love.
  7. Shoulder/Elbow surgery has a lot to do with his slow feet
  8. Didn't mean to reply with a book, just want to keep some of that info in front of everyone's eyes
  9. From Beane's end of season presser: General statements: 1.) “We’re a lot of positions away that we’ve got to clean up or answer.” 2.) “I don’t think we’re looking at an overhaul,” 3.) We are going to look under every rock to find competition and upgrades where we can, but my philosophy has not changed. We have to draft, develop, and sign our guys. 4.) “I do agree with continuity. The more cohesive you are out there, this is the ultimate team sport . . . 5.) I would say, we want to keep as many intact as we can, but we wouldn’t do it in spite of a clear upgrade. But if you’re talking about, I’m bringing in a guy with a similar skill set, why would I do that if this guy can do it? 6.) If we’re going to change out guys, other than people who leave in free agency that we can’t control, we do believe in continuity and we want to keep as many of this core, these guys that we’ve drafted and spent time developing and learning our system, Pass Rushers, Phillips & Shaq: 7.) Though he knows that premier pass rushers are rare, Beane admitted that he’s always in search of improvements across the defensive line. “You’d love to have one, you really would,” Beane said. “There’s not even 32 of them, though, one for each team. I promise you, we’re looking for those guys, and would love pressure on the quarterback. If the quarterback’s on his backside, he can’t do too much damage to us. “We want to be strong upfront, we want to stop the run, things like that, but at the end of the day, there’s only so many Von Miller’s, that type of player.” 8.)"I thought Jordan really stepped his game up this year on the field, but also bringing some young guys along. I thought he was good with Ed and just showing him some different things. I think Jordan’s still got room to grow. Again, he had a career year, sack production, so he’s earned the right to see what his value is on the market. We’ll just have to see where that goes.” 9.) ‘Listen Shaq, us not picking up your option has nothing to do with us [not] wanting you here, it’s just where we are at this time. We would love for you to have a great year and sign you to a longterm.’ I was very happy with Shaq, and we’ll obviously talk to his representatives. I am 100 % on board with the fact that Phillips is gone as his market based on what he did this year and Jordan still having room to grow - Beane basically said as much. So honestly, he will be missed for what he brought, but he is not a core player and we are not overpaying for him. If he tests the market out and it's reasonable we would re-sign him over signing a FA with a similar skill set. On DE where we will go with this is based on what the FO feels is a clear upgrade. Are Yannick, Chris Jones, Armstead, Barrett, Judon, Van Noy etc. a clear upgrade over Shaq? Shaq as it has been pointed out, while not drafted by them, he is part of the system and being developed in it, we have a price and would rather sign him as opposed to bringing a replacement with a similar skill set. It is reasonable to assume that if we are shut out or don't deem one of these better players and what there worth is a clear upgrade; Shaq will be back. Personally I see 5 FAs who are an upgrade over Shaq's pass rushing skills. Edit: Very easy to make a case if Shaq's value is worth around $9M/ season, I think you could reasonably dump Murphy for him. To have that level of continuity.
  10. I agree & I think we are just about there on LB. That is a very good point about Poyer & Hyde, they were right around the same age. Beane did say across the board they want to continue to get younger and this just naturally seems like where you take those steps - Gore, Smith, LorAx and in a couple years Jerry & Star.
  11. This is real roster building, you will be letting some good players go, but finding upgrades at the important schematic/impact positions and finding value in backups on other role players. the depth on the team is great and we will lose good players along the way, but we should be improving every year around the core guys. @MAJBobby I have been thinking about the Vet leadership at each position that McD loves - when do you think he feels these young core guys are ready to be that Vet Leader and we don't need to add the "old" player? Is Milano or Edmunds close enough to step into that role? and not distract from the focus of this, but would a TE like Hooper be considered enough of a vet to cast aside Lee Smith? Kinda of an over arching question regardless of position
  12. This was MTV - when they actually, you know, played music
  13. You have done a really good job with these and getting us primed and ready to look at the FAs and players in the upcoming draft. Lots of good info here on the positions, players and very reasonable assumptions so far on your part!
  14. Robbed of a Yankees vs. Dodgers WS which is about as classic as you can get - both teams were great that year. Even as a Yankees fan, the Dodgers were the best team, even in 2018 they were
  15. the only time teabagging is acceptable - because seriously F that guy in PVP In real life; people still do that - grow up
  16. Question because I am curious and thankfully haven't gone through this - how do you feel about the WS win in 2018? In the past I have said that if I found out the Bills cheated their way to a SB win, i would be disgusted and not even acknowledge it - same if the Yankees were involved during a win. Saying that without going through it and reconciling it in reality - just curious what it is like
  17. https://www.bostonherald.com/2020/01/07/alex-coras-reputation-at-stake-in-red-sox-sign-stealing-scandal/ from the Boston Herald today about the Red Sox: According to the report, somebody would study the video feed in the replay room behind the Red Sox dugout, decode the signs and relay them to the players on base. How this sentence can simply fit another team According to the report, Ernie Admas would study the video feed in the replay room behind the Patriots sideline, decode the signs and relay them to the Brady in his helmet.
