  1. I was at NE when JP went down & I yelled "Don't get up". That's how convinced I was Edwards was the answer. I actually went over to some NE fans I had talked with before the game & said Trent Edwards coming in for JP would go down in Bills history the same way Brady for Bledsoe did in NE.
  2. Back then I went to every Bills home game except pre-seasons. I remember that game. The fans were getting restless when Indy jumped to a big lead. Jim Kelly was in the club level and the fans in the lower bowl were turning around, looking up & begging him to come out of retirement & rescue the team. By the end of the game I thought the Bills had stolen Collins in the 1995 draft. What I didn't remember was all the empty seats. Does anyone remember why the attendance was so low for a September game? I know traditionally when they were still in the AFC East, Indy was one of the weakest draws in the league for Bills home games.
  3. Try this: https://21153.mc.tritondigital.com/OMNY_HOWARDANDJEREMY_P/media-session/1d8cbfed-577a-41b1-aa4b-77871c072776/d/clips/4b5f9d6d-9214-48cb-8455-a73200038129/c1d556e8-24a7-4bbb-b7ad-a92b00371872/a2793ed2-cd9c-430c-b9d5-ad1e00d426e3/audio/direct/t1620132780/05-04_Bills_general_manager_Brandon_Beane.mp3?t=1620132780
  4. I remember 2 years ago when another UB player, Tyree Jackson, went undrafted. There were UB homers who were asking why Josh Allen was the 7th pick in the prior draft yet Tyree, who they envisioned as similar to Josh went undrafted. Well, the Bills signed him as an UFA, cut him & he didn't even end up on the practice squad. Then he went to the XFL and originally was behind Cardale Jones. After the XFL folded he didn't play in the NFL this past season. Recently Jackson resurfaced as a TE & signed with the Eagles this offseason. Let's hope the Bills didn't blow it & he turns into another Logan Thomas.
  5. Here's a few of my worst: I had Willis McGahee AND Trent Edwards in the Hall of Fame. I actually made a shrine to Willis at my desk at work with gameday photos from the Buffalo News and labeled it "The road to Canton" I loved it when the Bills traded up & drafted J.P. Losman. Back then I used to do my own draft & I drafted JP at 13 when the Bills drafted Evans. In 2005 I predicted the Bills would go 12-4 with JP. I thought every game that Flutie played was detrimental to the team long term because Rob Johnson needed to play. Now the best ones: After half a season as head coach I said the Bills should fire Hank Bullough before the 1986 season. After the Vikings game his rookie year, I went to the mall that week & bought a Josh Allen jersey, convinced I'd be able to wear it for many years.
  6. He's my next door neighbor & he's in his 60s. Doesn't look like he can play in the NFL. He doesn't follow sports, so the next time I see him I'll tell him his namesake was drafted by the Bills.
  7. Nobody makes trades with that many draft choices. The OP has watched Draft Day too much.
  8. Teddy Bridgewater is starting to feel like Charlie Brown about to kick a football.
  9. You'll have to wait until tomorrow's newspapers.
  10. One of the downfalls of having the 30th pick is that WGR's management feels it's OK to start the draft coverage after the Sabres game. I hope the Bills move up & they miss the Bills pick.
  11. He's on the LA Chargers having a pretty good career as a WR, he went to Clemson & is another of Clemson's NFL success stories. I can think of at least 3 Mike Williams, unfortunately the 2 who were with the Bills underachieved when they were here.
  12. The year we drafted Josh at 7, our top pick in the 1st round started at #21. The difference is that Beane had a plan to move up, as far as 5 if he had to. It's not like we were too far away in other years, our GMs didn't have the guts to trade up for a star, or they were satisfied with guys like Ryan Fitzpatrick & Tyrod Taylor. Or, they thought drafting a QB outside the top 10 was OK & they went for guys like EJ & JP later in the 1st, when if you look at draft history while the QBs drafted in the top 10 hit 50% of the time, the hit rates drops to about 30% for the rest of the QBs drafted in the 1st round. Beane came in with a sense of urgency that the past GMs didn't have and proved that you are able to move up in the draft if you have the footballs to do it.
  13. I hope he goes to Miami or NE & ends up in jail & never plays a down again.
  14. Someone better get on the line & warn Urban Meyer before it's too late🤩
  15. So did the Bills, and he didn't even play as a rookie because he got Guillian-Barre Syndrome. The Bills were sure about BOOKER MOORE.
  16. 4 QBs will be gone by the time of Denver's pick without a trade-up. The 1st 3 picks will be QBs & at 8 Carolina is trading the pick (rumors are to NE so NE can take their QB of the future, but maybe another team outbids NE). Obviously, the guy who Denver thinks will still be available isn't someone they like & it's likely they don't like much after the 1st 2 or 3 who will be long gone by #9.
  17. It's So-Cal QBs, not Cal QBs. Josh, Brady, & Rodgers are all California QBs. While Josh & Brady went to colder places in college, Rodgers is from northern California & went to Cal-Berkeley. Josh is now a So Cal guy, he spends his off seasons in L.A.
  18. Unless the Jets do something stupid & don't turn the pick in on time.
  19. Sometimes the insiders don't know what they're supposed to know. When I read what the Bills did in scouting the QB class of 2018, it became pretty obvious that they were zeroed in on doing everything necessary to find the right QB and many other organizations, including some of our previous ones, don't take the leave no stone unturned approach that Beane & the rest did. You usually don't hear the horror stories until after the guy busts, but when you hear them you realize that the team that drafted a bust who was a take the money & run guy didn't do their homework. Then there are the players with high character who aren't good enough. Do you think Nix & Whaley watched every down that EJ played in college? There were fans of Florida State who watched him throughout his college career who couldn't believe that the Bills took him in the 1st round. Odds are they saw him play a lot more than Nix & Whaley did. I think the Bills fell in love with EJ because he came off so well in interviews with them they never bothered to analyze the tape the same way Beane & the Bills scouts did with the class of 2018. I once described EJ as a guy you would want your daughter to marry, but you wouldn't want him playing QB for your football team.
  20. They do have earthquakes out where the 49ers are, so maybe coach is always prepared to lose some players to one.
  21. This sums up their problem: Josh Allen was hyped for a full year before the 2018 NFL Draft as a potential No. 1 pick, and he went No. 7 to the Bills, all to the bafflement of pretty much everyone not employed by the league. The reason they were so baffled is because the people employed by the league know that you can't interpret what a player is doing by looking at a bunch of stats. You have to look at the player on tape & in person. You have to interview the man to know how he thinks. The Bills looked at the video of every down Josh Allen played. The Bills went to watch him play live & watched him both on the field & on the sidelines. The Bills interviewed him 3 or more times face to face. The Bills understood that in a game played in horrible weather Josh carried his team, while the guys looking at stats saw a poor performance & probably compared those game stats with one of the So-Cal QBs playing in the sun. When guys sitting in some office peruse stats instead of viewing hours of tapes, watching games live & talking to the players, they will never understand why the NFL professionals have a different opinion than them. Now not all franchises are as diligent as the Bills were in scouting Josh. That's why head cases like JaMarcus Russell, who Matt Millen personally warned Al Davis not to draft after a terrible interview with him, and Ryan Leaf, who was rude to Indy's management and came in out of shape at the combine, get drafted 1 or 2 in spite of flaws that would get them completely written off the Bills draft board.
  22. The Bills approached Cleveland to move up to 4, but according to Beane, Cleveland was asking "too much" to move up to 4. Then they had the deal with Denver but it was contingent on whether Denver's guy was available at 5. When Cleveland took Ward, Elway told Beane that Chubb was their guy & he couldn't make the deal.
