Giants are releasing QB Daniel Jones (future backup to Josh Allen)
Albany,n.y. replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's not $70 million dead cap. The dead cap is a lot lower. The cap # this season is $47,855,000 but all but the salary of $35,500,000 has already been accounted for. So his dead cap is actually 7/17ths of $35,500,000 or $14,617,647 the remainder of this year & the remaining pro rated signing bonus of $22,200,000 next year (total $36,817,647 spread out over 2024 & 2025). -
Giants are releasing QB Daniel Jones (future backup to Josh Allen)
Albany,n.y. replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
There were plenty of these types of videos the year before when we chose Josh Allen over Josh Rosen. It's kind of ironic that when Jones was drafted the Giants fans wanted the other Josh Allen who is now known as Josh Hines-Allen. It's too bad there are no videos (that I'm aware of) showing Giants fans calling for Josh in 2018 & going nuts when they picked Barkley. -
Josh didn't start the 2nd half. He came in after the kickoff at 11:22 left in the 3rd quarter. I remember after the Bills got the ball back I looked up & saw Josh Allen at QB & had something to cheer about for the 1st time in the game. 312:22110BUF 27033Nathan Peterman pass incomplete short left intended for Charles Clay0.7400.200 312:19210BUF 27033Nathan Peterman pass complete short left to LeSean McCoy for -1 yards (tackle by Tony Jefferson)0.200-0.620 311:39311BUF 26033Nathan Peterman pass short middle intended for Kelvin Benjamin is intercepted by Brandon Carr at BUF-33 and returned for 32 yards-0.620-6.970 311:2611BAL 1039Javorius Allen right guard for 1 yard, touchdown6.9707.000 311:22BAL 15040Justin Tucker kicks extra point good0.0000.000 311:22BAL 35040Justin Tucker kicks off 65 yards, touchback.0.0000.610 311:22110BUF 25040Marcus Murphy right guard for 3 yards (tackle by Chris Wormley)0.6100.470 310:5427BUF 28040Josh Allen pass incomplete deep right intended for Zay Jones

Giants are releasing QB Daniel Jones (future backup to Josh Allen)

You have 11 months to worm your way into Josh's inner circle & get an invite to next year's Halloween party. Knox,Trubisky and their wives will be there. Brock Osweiler says "hold my beer". You win. -

Because Jones went to the Giants & requested his release after he was demoted to lower than the practice squad QB & the Giants granted his wish. -

He's not coming here. Mitch is buds with Josh. That's the top qualification for Bills backup QB.- 325 replies

I was there too. At halftime I went to a secluded area and phoned a Bills fan friend to laugh at Peterman. The good news was by the 4th quarter, we moved into prime sideline seats because enough people left. Peterman ruined 2 road games for me. The LA game & then opening day in Baltimore in 2018. The good news in the Baltimore game is I saw Josh Allen play in his 1st real game. Also saw Lamar Jackson's NFL debut as well. When Josh came in I started screaming "go Josh" in joy because I was not happy that he wasn't the starter on opening day. At least there was good weather for the LA game. I got drenched in Baltimore since it rained all day.

Terrel Bernard Defensive Player of the Week!
Albany,n.y. replied to bills742's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hated the pick-no not when he was drafted, but Sunday's interception. While it didn't cost the Bills because of the time left on the clock, when will defenders learn not to intercept on 4th down & long. If this was the middle of the game, he would have cost the Bills field position. Just like on a Hail Mary, just knock the ball down. Intercepting on 4th down & not gaining yardage is fundamentally unsound. -
Why is McD not being talked about as coach of the year?
Albany,n.y. replied to Antonio's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's a loaded year. Right now I think the winner is Mike Tomlin. After seeing the Jets after Saleh's firing, he may get a vote from one of the NYC media members. 😄 -
The Bills ended the season at #21. They moved up twice to get to #7. After seeing that, there's no excuse that a QB is out of reach. If you believe in a QB, you do whatever is necessary to get him. Look at the Giants. They only wanted one of the top 3 QBs in this year's draft. Meanwhile, Denver drafted Bo Nix & he's winning games & nobody knows yet how good Pennix may be. The Giants let at least 1 good QB go by for whatever reasoning they had. Now they are in big trouble. When it comes to QBs, teams have to do whatever it takes to get the guy. The Bills problem was between Polian & Beane the GMs weren't ready to make the big moves-they were too cautious (or in Whaley's case too reckless-giving up a lot for a WR when better players at WR were available at the Bills draft spot). Donahoe wanted to draft Roethlisberger, but didn't offer enough to get him before Pittsburgh drafted. I can't imagine Polian or Beane being scared off by the price. Many people who use the Jimmy Johnson chart blasted the Bills for giving up too many draft points to get Josh Allen.

His name is not Van Denmark! Funny story: I too thought his name was Van Denmark. Then I got an e-mail from a friend before he had ever played touting him. There was something in the e-mail that I needed to look up to reply. When I searched him I realized his name is Van Demark. I then e-mailed my friend telling him it's Van Demark, not Van Denmark, I attached some photos of him from the back where one could see his name on the uniform. Then on one, the angle didn't get the full K and I said "who knows, this photo says his name is Van Demari."

You can't develop guys if there's nothing there to develop. What Jauron, Rex and the rest of the goobers had in common is bad GMs & scouts. From Marv Levy to Buddy Nix to Russell Brandon to Doug Whaley, our drafts were pretty bad. People who criticize Beane's bad draft picks don't realize how good we've got it now. A lot fewer misses.

Xavier Worthy: So far, not much more than a gadget guy
Albany,n.y. replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
They picked Spiller so they could get rid of Lynch, but in the process they devalued Lynch's trade value. The Buddy Nix GM era set this team back for years with one stupid move after another. -
Imagine if, as some suggested here back in 2018, the Bills had decided that making the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor was enough to stay with Tyrod. Schoen & Daboll should have known better since they were part of the decision making team that dealt Tyrod to Cleveland before the draft & then did everything necessary to draft Josh Allen.

1990 Week 5 LA Raiders at Buffalo Bills.
Albany,n.y. replied to Toomstone.Part.Duex's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills played 7 games in 8 weeks from 9/30/90 to 11/18/90. This game is the only one I wasn't at. Two of the games were road games. 10/28 at NE & 11/4 at Cleveland. Two of the weeks I did a football doubleheader. On 9/29, the day before the Denver home game we went to a CFL game in Toronto & on 11/5 we traveled west to Indianapolis from Cleveland & caught the Giants @ Indianapolis game. For the season I went to 14 NFL games including playoffs & Super Bowl & one CFL game. That's the most games I ever went to in one season & this was the only home game I missed. I only had half a season ticket that year in a seat that I split for 4 of the games and I guess I just stayed home that week. -
If every time a journalist criticized someone running or playing for a team and got sued, the courts would be jammed up with frivolous lawsuits. It was the writer's poetic license and hardly libelous. Obviously, Joe Douglas has worked in weeks since he made a trade at the trade deadline. It might actually be true Johnson is looking forward to a future role in the administration without quitting on the team at the same time. How many people plan things in the future & still go to work in the present? Just about everyone with a job.

Are The Bears Wrecking Caleb Williams?
Albany,n.y. replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in The Stadium Wall
Instead of blaming coaches for ruining QBs, blame the scouts & GMs who over-drafted them. It's amazing how many people think numerous bad QBs were ruined when they never had NFL talent to begin with. A lot of QBs just can't play at the next level, but GMs & scouts miss what becomes obvious once the guy goes up against grown men in the NFL. Then when the coach sees how bad they are in practice & games and bench them so they won't lose the locker room, the fans and media cry that the QB is being ruined, when in reality, he is a bust. The 1st ones to notice that are the coaches who see them about 5 days a week during the season. Then there are the QB busts with overinflated opinions of themselves who get drafted way too high. Best examples are lazy bums/head cases like Leaf, Russell, Manziel, and Rosen. They never made a true effort to improve their games. Then there are the undersized guys like Young & C.Williams who get drafted #1 and are quickly surpassed by the normal sized QBs taken after them. PS: Good examples of bad scouting & GMs: The Bills drafting JP Losman & EJ Manuel. Both got benched early in their careers by coaches who had seen enough to say No Mas. -
the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems
Albany,n.y. replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nobody should be thanking Gettleman as some have done earlier in the thread. Chances are if he hadn't taken Barkley at 2 and picked a QB instead, he would have most likely selected Sam Darnold, who the Jets picked with the next pick, & then the Jets would still have probably taken Rosen before Allen since they're the Jets. The worst thing the Giants did was re-sign Jones to ridiculous money. My 1st reaction was these were the same guys who were in Buffalo when the Bills decided Tyrod Taylor wasn't good enough & they learned nothing from that experience. However, in their defense, the year they re-signed Jones the QB draft was really bad with only CJ Stroud at 2 being worth drafting (plus Young & Richardson were gone long before the Giants could even consider trading up after making the playoffs). The best thing they could have done was not re-signing Jones & going with a veteran free agent (possibly Tyrod, who was on the roster last year) and then doing everything possible to move up in the 2024 draft-or sat back & taken Penix, McCarthy, or Nix instead of only wanting one of the top 3 QBs taken (as shown on Hard Knocks). -
The good news is the game will end soon & not conflict with the start of the Bills game.
-
How can Daboll go without sending Schoen with him? Anybody associated with the Jones contract needs to go.
-
His name could be Smith & most of us wouldn't know the difference.

If he stays unemployed, will he go into hock?

The decision to go for the FG - right or wrong?
Albany,n.y. replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills won a game that way on 12/2/2007: 2007 Bills at Washington Joe Gibbs called an illegal timeout that gave Rian Lindell a shorter field to kick the game-winner.
