  1. They bring in a veteran & bring a late draft choice/UFA into camp to compete for the practice squad. I won't be surprised if Webb gets Shea Tierney's job as assistant QB coach because Tierney is probably joining Daboll as his QB coach. Tierney is very close with Daboll, joining him in Buffalo in 2018 from Alabama. Maybe Dorsey gets OC & Tierney gets the QBs, but that still leaves the assistant QB job open for Webb.
  2. Stop the BS! You obviously don't get the concept of a metropolitan area. Look it up Thurman. I'm a native of NYC, born in the Bronx grew up on L.I. I know that northeastern NJ is part of the NYC metropolitan area, why don't you? You can see Manhattan from East Rutherford. There are tons of people who every day commute from NJ to NYC.
  3. I'm also an ABA historian. Went to a lot of ABA games in my teens. I have a bunch of stuff published on the website "Remember the ABA". I was living in Suffolk County NY during the USFL years. My big regret is I never went to the Meadowlands for a USFL game and my biggest regret is not going to the final game, the USFL Championship played in NJ. One day I was in my car listening to a Generals/Houston Gamblers game and Jim Kelly suffered a knee injury in the 1st half. The announcers were speculating he'd be out for weeks. The 2nd half starts & Jimbo is out there still playing. That's when I learned how tough Kelly is.
  4. Hank Bullough was supposed to be the Pittsburgh Maulers head coach in 1985 but the team folded and Hank joined the Bills staff under Kay Stephenson in January 1985 instead, replaced Kay during the 1985 season & was replaced by Marv in 1986.
  5. I looked up the USFL teams through the years (I have a USFL file with newspaper & magazine clippings in an envelope and the two published USFL Guides and Registers). The final year, 1986, which was never played had the following teams: Baltimore Stars, New Jersey Generals, Orlando Renegades, Tampa Bay Bandits, Birmingham Stallions, Arizona Outlaws, Jacksonville Bulls, and Memphis Showboats. Of the teams with cities/nicknames that were gone by 1986 that the USFL will be using, the Pittsburgh Maulers played 1 season, 1984, the Michigan Panthers played in 1983 & 1984 then were folded into the Oakland Invaders for 1985 and the entire team folded before the proposed 1986 season, There was only one season of the New Orleans Breakers, 1984, for 1983 they were the Boston Breakers and played as the Portland Breakers in 1985 before folding. The Houston Gamblers played in 1984 and 1985 and for 1986 were folded into the New Jersey Generals who went to camp with both Flutie & Kelly as their QBs. Finally the Philadelphia Stars played in Philadelphia in 1983 and 1984 then moved to Baltimore and became the Baltimore Stars and were among the teams that stuck it out until the end.
  6. I guess Shoen will be signing another ex-Bill or two as training camp fodder too. Wait till he makes the team before opening your eyes.
  7. Give it a rest. Orchard Park isn't in Buffalo. Both cities are pretty close to the football stadiums. Also Met-Life is in East Rutherford.
  8. The teams are all using former USFL team names. The craziest part is they will all be playing in Birmingham Alabama so the cities mean absolutely nothing, except the Birmingham Stallions will be playing at "home" for every game. All the coaches have been chosen. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/usfl/usfl-2022-jeff-fisher-larry-fedora-named-as-final-two-coaches Here are some highlights: The USFL is a new American football league owned by FOX Sports. There will be eight teams in the new USFL, split into two divisions: North and South. Each team will play a 10-game schedule, with teams in the same division playing each other twice and teams in the other division once. The top two teams in each division will play against each other in the semifinals followed a week later by the championship game. Tickets for the inaugural game are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are $10 for adults and free for kids under the age of 15. Details about tickets for other games will be announced shortly. Where will games be played? In the inaugural season of the USFL, all eight teams will play in Birmingham Alabama, at both Protective Stadium and Legion Field. Who are the USFL head coaches? Jeff Fisher (Michigan Panthers) and Larry Fedora (New Orleans Breakers), were the final two of the eight coaches announced Thursday. They joined Skip Holtz, Birmingham Stallions; Kirby Wilson, Pittsburgh Maulers; Mike Riley, New Jersey Generals; Todd Haley, Tampa Bay Bandits; Kevin Sumlin, Houston Gamblers; Bart Andrus, Philadelphia Stars.
  9. They lost the game because the O-line was a mess. What was McDermott supposed to do, play OG himself ? If your mind is blown when a team loses a game with an O-line in shambles, maybe you need to understand the game better.
  10. I wish they hadn't cut off the press conference on WGR & the Bills site that used the WGR feed before it ended.
  11. Anyone who understand what the word contract means would never have proposed this idea. He has 3 years left on his contract. NO will demand major compensation from any team that he went to. He's sittingout a year in hopes that by next year NO will be willing to take a lot less, like when Arians took time off between Arizona & Tampa & the compensation was a low draft choice. For 2022, if Payton wants to coach another team, that team would have to give up at least a 1st round pick. Jerry will wait a year & Payton, who already owns a house in Dallas, will be their coach in 2023 after Jerry gives NO a draft pick or 2. Peyton Manning won't coach the Bills to a Super Bowl and neither will Sean Payton.
  12. Good for him. He walks into a much better situation than if he waited for Arians (and Brady) to retire in Tampa & be left with no QB.
  13. Not with 3 years left on a contract & NO not about to let him quit one day & sign with someone else without big compensation including at least one 1st rounder.
  14. 2022 is not the 5th year option. The 5th year option was a little over $23 million all cash & all on cap. They restructured 2022 as follows. Base salary $4,100,000, $500,000 workout bonus, and a $42,400,000 option pickup which they are spreading out over the next 5 years on the cap. In total the Bills are paying Josh $47 million this new year, but because of spreading out last season's bonus (2021) over 5 years and this year's option over 5 years his cap hit got reduced from $23,016,000 to $16,380,000 while he's pocketing an additional $23,984,000 over what he would have received on the 5th year option.
  15. I called him a future HOFer on opening day 2019, what took you so long to figure it out? 😀 Here's the story: I was sold on Josh from the time he arrived in camp as a rookie and saw glimpses of greatness his rookie year. I went out and bought his jersey after the Vikings game. Now did I really believe he'd be a HOFer, not that early but I had my hopes. On opening day 2019 I went on a bus trip to NJ to watch the Bills at Jets game. There was a Jets fan in front of me on the bus & he started mocking Josh Allen for being inaccurate. I got so mad that I told him Josh Allen is good and he's going to be great. When he laughed at me I doubled down and said that Josh would end up in the Hall of Fame. Now did I really think that at the time? Probably not, but I did think he was the Bills long term answer at QB. So because of that Jets fan's taunting, I can truly say that the 1st time I said Josh Allen would be in the Hall of Fame was as early as September 8, 2019.
  16. Right now it's Josh & Mahomes on 1 tier and all the other QBs underneath.
  17. This game was lost on Thanksgiving when Tre White went down. Just one stop by White would have been the difference. White is their best D player & he was needed against Mahomes.
  18. A franchise QB makes everyone else look better than they are. Most HOF coaches had a franchise QB.
  19. Before this week's playoffs started I told someone that I didn't think Tennessee would get in the Super Bowl for this reason: Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Ryan Tannehill. Three franchise QBs and Ryan "3 picks" Tannehill. I don't have an explanation of what happened in GB, other than if you look at recent head to head records SF has GB's number.
  20. When I was a kid growing up in the suburbs of NYC I used to see lots of Titans fans. After A few years they all became Jets fans.
  21. A Ponzi Scheme involves decepton & fraud, all I'm doing is betting legally & hoping the Bills come through for me & help pay for my ticket. If they lose I'm out a lot less than I will be spending anyway, if they win I've got a Super Bowl ticket basically for its face value with the money I initially put in.
  22. Right now there are cheaper seats than that, fees included, but I'd rather not say where they are until I have my seats next Sunday night. I'm rooting big time for Tampa today for 2 reasons: 1) I don't want the Bills to play the home team in the Super Bowl (see how that worked out last year when I warned everyone about the danger of the Bucs in their home stadium when I thought the Bills had a shot to go to the Super Bowl). 2) If it's Rams 49ers in the NFC championship game the speculators might buy up all the cheaper seats before next Sunday's games, and I'm not buying Super Bowl tickets until after thre Bills clinch a Super Bowl spot. Right now I can fit 2 tickets (I'll get reimbursed for the other ticket) on my credit card but if prices get much higher I won't be able to fit both tickets on my card & we'll have a tough time splitting up the payments. The main reason I have enough $ to go is because I've structured my bets to help pay for the ticket figuring if they lose I won't need to spend $ for the ticket anyway. I have bets in today that will pay me almost $2,800 if the Bills win today (I'll take out 2 grand if they win) and I bet futures on the Bills winning the AFC which pays $3,250. Add that to the $2,500 I already withdrew the 1st week of online betting and I've just about paid for my ticket-AS LONG AS THE RAMS AREN'T IN THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. Many of you will hate it but for me Brady winning today is a must win.
  23. Because he feels it's ridiculous to bring in a guy who recently retired as a player & has never been a coach. He's more old school and believes a coach starts at a lower point & works his way up, not go from a retired player to a head coach with no experience in between. If you want to hear what he said, I linked the show somewhere in this thread & since it is right at the beginning you don't have to fish around for where his rant starts.
  24. Game not games, Tyler Huntley won 1 game in 4 starts. Thar's a win % of 25% with Huntley starting. With Lamar Jackson the Ravens are 37-12 (75.5% win %) in 4 seasons. Even though they weren't as good this year they were 7-5 (58.3%) with Lamar. 58.3% is much better than 25%.
