  1. There were plenty of posters in 2018 who didn't want to trade up for a QB-check the archives.
  2. Our local news (Ch 10) just had an economist from Massachusetts who knocked the deal. The idiots in the media at this end of the state won't give up.
  3. Beane wouldn't be drafting a RB hoping he's the next Terry Miller. I can cite busts at any position if I want to say no 1st rounder is ever worth the risk. For years there were advocates of never drafting a 1st round QB making similar comments to your post. Thankfully Beane didn't agree with them.
  4. If a player like Thurman Thomas has a 5th year option, no team would hesitate to either pick it up or sign him to a long term extension.
  5. We're not drafting in the top 10 anymore. People need to realize that when your team is drafting near the end of the 1st round you will not get to draft again until the late 2nd round and if the sweet spot for RBs is early 2nd round if you want one you either use a 1st rounder or lose the player. You can't count on a trade up or trade down. It's not the same mentality as drafting in the top 10.
  6. As long as Josh is happy with McDermott, McDermott's job is safe. The only time McDermott will be on the hot seat is if he POs Josh. The bottom line is the franchise QB is the decider if a coach stays or goes-see Brady & Rodgers who both have been the real reason for coaching changes.
  7. He was one of the XFL's best QBs and was on some NFL practice squads including KC.
  8. I froze the screen after they showed the stands. They're lucky if they have 50 people attending the game. There are more players on the sidelines than fans in the stands.
  9. There aren't many,if any, fans in the stands. Looks like Highmark 2020.
  10. The restaurant owner's argument makes no sense in the Bills case. Does the restaurant owner own the land and building he runs his business or does he rent from someone else who owns the property LIKE THE BILLS DO? If he rents it, did he pay the entire cost to build the building, because if he did the owner fleeced him. Maybe he paid to make the restaurant fit the owner's building, but he would be a fool to build the building unless he owns it & has a land lease. If he owns everything then it makes sense for him to have built the restaurant himself because he controls all of the property and ISN'T A TENANT-THE BILLS ARE TENANTS, NOT OWNERS OF THE STADIUM. There's no comparison between a PRIVATE business and a PUBLIC Stadium.
  11. Whaley heard of the transaction and said "A young QB needs a top receiver to grow. This will only benefit Jordan Love."
  12. The real reason is the NFL is afraid New England will hire someone who will figure out how to hack the chip.
  13. I expect Luis Perez to be their QB. Depending on when this was written, it may have been before Perez's late signing. Edit: Holmes isn't listed on their current roster. Perez is the starting QB. Saturday
  14. If I could bet I'd bet Tampa Bay to cover. Their QB is a proven minor league QB, leading St Louis in the XFL. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan_Ta'amu XFL statistics Year Team Games Passing Rushing GP GS Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A TD Int Rtg Att Yds Avg TD 2020 STL 5 5 97 134 72.0 1,050 8.0 5 2 101.3 41 217 5.3 1
  15. Here's proof that Watson is not better than Josh. Watson won 4 games as an established franchise QB in his 4th season & hasn't taken a snap since. Can you imagine Josh playing a full season & the Bills winning 4 games? Even when Josh was a raw rookie, with no O-line or WRs, in 11 starts the Bills won 5 games. Josh is a winner & Watson is a loser.
  16. Where did you get that bet in? 😄
  17. I was hoping to get to knowthe USFL & bet on some games, but legal betting in NYS is not taking bets on the USFL. There are 15 states that will take it but I'm not going to NJ or southeast Connecticut to bet on these games. I guess I'll have to wait for the NFL season.
  18. Just to let people know, as of last season Ticketmaster was still issuing paper tickets. Last year I bought a ticket for opening day & I got a ticket called a "Smart Ticket" in the mail about a week or 2 later. The ticket is a printed ticket with a chip inside. Eventually, I got nervous that the people at the gate wouldn't know how to scan the ticket & switched to an electronic ticket on my phone, but at least for single game purchasers, as of the 2021 season you can still get a paper ticket.
  19. They've created another monster.
  20. When you are young and in shape you believe you can try to cross a busy interstate highway. I've done it in my younger days when I was running. Now looking back it was a pretty dumb thing to do but I figured I was fast enough to beat any traffic. I didn't even do it because of car trouble, I ran across the Thruway near Newburgh because I wanted to buy a newspaper on the other side where there was a rest area that I knew had the newspaper. When I was a teenager I ran alongside the Southern State parkway in Long Island, having to cross exits and making sure cars weren't coming. I understand how a person in the physical condition that a pro athlete is in can feel it's ok to run across a highway because I've been there, done that. Not only was I lucky to survive, but I was also lucky that I didn't get a ticket for parking on the median grass of the Thruway. Unfortunately Dwayne Haskiǹs wasn't as lucky and won't see 25. Most young people make mistakes that can cost them their lives, fortunately most of us survive to realize we did some crazy stuff and got lucky.
  21. Here's a different point of view. You have an internal candidate who is already familiar with the job, the players & the organization. Why go outside the organization & start all over again when you feel you have the right person already in the job? I've seen a lot of people promoted from within during my career. Most of the time they knew they were the only serious candidate and only the interviewees who knew nothing about the job weren't aware that the chosen candidate was getting the job in spite of other interviews to meet certain hiring requirements. All the interviewees other than the chosen one participated in sham interviews. Another reason is you don't want your chosen candidate taking another job due to uncertainty.
  22. Carson Palmer retired & they had no long term answer at QB, so they felt that they had to draft a QB. If the Bills had lost out on Josh Allen, at some point early in the draft, they would have selected a QB. The Browns, Jets, Bills and Cardinals all had boxed themselves into a corner that made it necessary to draft a QB in 2018. The class was supposed to be the best since 2004 and each team had made alternate plans if their top guy was already drafted.
  23. I love when some media hack tries to revise history. As you stated, Arizona traded up for Rosen, they did not stay put. Arizona wanted to trade up for Josh, but the Bills had more draft ammo. Arizona was 15th with one 2nd round pick, the Bills were 12th with 2 second round picks to offer. Arizona never had the draft capital to compete with the Bills. I remember a lot of draft graders saying the Bills gave up too much for Allen while applauding Arizona for trading up 5 spots (same number of spots that the Bills moved up from) in order to beat Miami to Rosen.
  24. In Mularkey's case he was already the coach. The team decided they wanted to stick with him. So, when a team decides they want to hire the interim coach full time, isn't every other interview a sham interview? The only reason Tennessee had to put on the dog & pony show was the Rooney Rule, which at times forces teams to conduct interviews in spite of having already chosen someone within the organization. Recently the Bills had to do the same thing before hiring Dorsey as OC. Internal hires where one candidate is the obvious choice should not be subject to a rule that makes a team interview people from outside the organization just for window dressing.
