Josh Allen goes #1 overall to the Browns in a 2018 Redraft
Albany,n.y. replied to StHustle's topic in The Stadium Wall
The fact that the Bills took 2 WRs in the 1st 4 rounds (Burkett & Reed) says that's not true. Outside of Jerry Butler they didn't have much, and Butler hadn't played a regular season game since October 1983 on the day of the 1985 draft. The veteran WRs going into camp in the 1985 season were Butler, Mitchell Brookins, Julius Dawkins, Preston Dennard, Byron Franklin, Bobby Jones, Mike Mosley, Eric Richardson and Craig White. As a rookie, Reed moved right into the starting lineup with Butler. -
HBO's Real Sports did a segment on this. It appears to be a common problem that isn't discussed enough. This happens about twice a week, about 100 times a year. Here's a 2.5 minute part of that segment. The point of the story was to say that every place where there is sports activity needs to have a defibrillator on hand so that when someone goes down they can get immediate care. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=918818882471735

If you get lucky you can go to Niagara Falls in a Uber driven by Ed Kilgore & then get a tour of the falls with Howard Simon. You might even pass Jerry Sullivan hitchhiking on Niagara Falls Blvd.

If Billacheat gets fired after this year

The OP wants to hire a 72 year old guy who would be on cruise control more than Rex Ryan was. -
Or convert it to a dart board.

I knew the story was fake because you can't have a heart attack if you don't have a heart.

Our local paper in Albany charges $27.72/month. The BN price looks like the going rate. I get 3 papers Albany Times Union $27.72, Buffalo News soon to be $28.99 & Newsday $10.76. That's $67.47/mo. To put it in perspective, I used to be able to get all 3 printed editions in downtown Albany 15 years ago & when I add in the Sunday papers the cost was pretty close to what I'm paying now in 2023 for the 3 papers on-line editions, although I suspect Newsday will be going up soon. The only thing that might keep the price down is that Newsday is competing with the NY Daily News & NY Post, while Albany & Buffalo are basically 1 newspaper cities.

GDT: USFL Championship - BHM vs PIT 8pm NBC
Albany,n.y. replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
You can claim it's the same league, but it's not. If someone bought the intellectual property of the AFL from the NFL & fielded another minor league, calling it the AFL, if they started claiming a history that included Lou Saban, Jack Kemp & Cookie Gilchrist I doubt a single Bills fan would take them seriously. -
GDT: USFL Championship - BHM vs PIT 8pm NBC
Albany,n.y. replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
The name may be the same, but this edition of the USFL has nothing to do with the USFL of 1982-1984 other than using the team names while not playing in most of the cities. It's like saying the current edition of the ABA has the history of the ABA where Julius Erving, George McGinnis, Spencer Haywood, Moses Malone and other NBA stars began their careers. Minor leagues that use old leagues' names do not have anything to do with the old league's history. If I change my name to George Washington, that doesn't make me the 1st POTUS. -
This is what happens when you lose a fine jersey salesman like Case Keenum.

The Oakland Coliseum is a dump. It is so bad that both the Raiders & A's (deal reached to move, technically still Oakland but not for long) went to Las Vegas for new stadiums. I've been there for both baseball & football & it was just as big a dump for both sports. Look at the prices on the secondary market. That's proof that enough people can afford tickets. .

When the Bills signed Tyrod I was convinced that he would start because of the rave reviews from his Ravens teammates. I was happy that he beat out EJ & Cassel & figured he was the best we could do. I actually mail ordered a T-Mobile tee shirt from the internet and wore it in the house while watching games in 2015 and wore it to the 2016 opener in Baltimore. By 2017 I was calling him " a wheel spinner" because as long as he was the Bills QB, we'd be spinning our wheels in mediocrity. Obviously Beane felt the same way and went for it all in the 2018 draft. Tyrod was a good bridge QB until we got someone in management who could recognize QB talent in the draft. That was not Nix or Whaley. The bottom line is Tyrod is a top level backup who can win 8-10 games if everything goes right, but if he's your starter he's a guy you'll always be looking to replace.

Marv had the best answer, it went something like this: The best way to never lose a Super Bowl-Don't get in. The Super Bowl years were a lot better than the drought or the past 29 years without getting in.

As soon as I saw the title my 1st thought was It's not the Bickering Bills until a coach's head goes through a wall.

Since Einstein has determined the 4.2 year threshold to make a Super Bowl, now we know why the Bills have only played in 4 Super Bowls. The Bills just didn't give their coaches enough time. The Bills have had 16 head coaches not counting interim coaches during the Super Boel era. Only Saban, Knox, Levy and McDermott lasted at least 4.2 seasons. Imagine if we had just let those other 12 guys coach long enough to make a Super Bowl. They just left too soon. How can we have expected more Super Bowls when 75% of the coaches weren't allowed to coach long enough to get there? Considering how often coaching turnover happens in the NFL, the 4.2 years to make a Super Bowl in the OP is total nonsense. It's taking data that is beyond meaningless & spitting out a conclusion. I'd like to know how many HCs have made the playoffs 5 of their 1st 6 seasons. I bet the list is pretty small. How about a list of how long it took a coach to make the playoffs 5 times. If you take every head coach in the Super Bowl era, I bet the % is very small since the majority don't even last 5 seasons.

Antonio Brown - (Former) Arena Football League Owner

Leggett said team members were paid last Thursday and Friday for the Orlando game. But a member of their group chat on Wednesday night posted a screenshot of the bank account reversal. When Leggett checked his account the next morning, his paycheck also had been deducted. -
Little Help - Getting to airport after the game
Albany,n.y. replied to berndog's topic in The Stadium Wall
This sounds like the best advice in this thread. Nowadays, when I go to games I stay at a friend's house in Depew, not far from the airport and go back after the game. I get there early enough to park in the lot on California closest to Southwestern (going from Transit, after it turns into Southwestern I make a left at the corner light on to California). I go all the way on Southwestern/Transit since they live off Transit. The lot can fill up fast, so if you're a late arrival, you're toast. Another possibility is in a current stadium side lot on Southwestern between the stadium & California, but you have a lot of pedestrians making it hard to turn right on Southwestern. Another possibility is the stadium lot on Southwestern if you get there early enough to park in the 1st or 2nd row closest to the exit. Park on the northeast side of the lot (left after the parking attendants scan the parking pass) so it's an easy right hand turn out. I used to do that when I was younger & I could run out of the stadium to the car-I also used to drive back to Albany after the game, so I had to get out quickly. Also, it depends on how the game is going. If a lot of people leave in the middle of the 4th quarter, all the roads will be jammed if you wait until the end. The fastest I've gotten out of the stadium was games that ended on a final kick or overtime because I could outrun the other fans & when that happened the roads were clear enough to go Southwestern north, left to the 219 & the 219 to I-90. Under no circumstances should you wait 10 minutes after the game. All that does is lets the other people get to their cars and get ahead of you on the road. I'd recommend the OP puts on WGR's postgame show after a home game before they go to the game & listen to the traffic reports. They'll get a pretty good idea of how the roads jam up after the game. There were plenty of games it took 45 minutes to an hour for me to get to the Depew toll booths on the Thruway whether I took Southwestern/Transit all the way to the Thruway via Transit, or went 219 to 90. The good news is, even if it takes an hour, if the game ends at 4:15, they'll get to the airport in plenty of time.
