  1. Bush will name Karl Rove, just to see Ted Kennedy's large head explode
  2. Thanks for the post Kzoo. Now if you add non 1st rounder Tom Brady, who played in 1 game and completed 1 pass in 3 attempts for 6 yards with a 42.4 QB rating his rookie year & won the Super Bowl his next season, maybe the Negative Nancys will get off JP's case. One could also look at Kurt Warner, who was in his 2nd NFL season and also won the Super Bowl completing 4 of 11 passes for 39 yards and a 47.2 QB rating as an "NFL Rookie"-I don't buy into the Arenaball & Europe "experience". JP was 3 for 5 32 yards 39.2 rating. Not much worse than the 2 Super Bowl winning QBs the season before they won the Super Bowl. The only struggling I expect from JP is when he struggles to get off the field next February in Detroit with all the reporters wanting to talk to him after he's the winning QB of SBXL
  3. Ali G is the worst show I've ever seen! I have no interest in watching the Rome show on HBO unless they change the format & make it The Jungle.
  4. It's their 6th & 7th, Donahoe is a moron! It's a 3rd, stop trying to read more into the trade than what it is. Donahoe said in the press conference it's a 3rd, end of speculation
  5. If I were choosing to trade with the 49ers or the Eagles, I'm pretty confident I could make the trade knowing the 49ers will be picking before the Eagles. The Titans are rebuilding. The Jags are not. When you are choosing between two teams going in opposite directions, you have a pretty good shot of getting right which team will have the better record. Your % may not be 100%, but saying THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF KNOWING how a team will finish when narrowing it down to 2 teams is absurd. Here are the 3 teams that I believe will be bad this year: Cleveland San Francisco Tennessee I'm pretty confident that I have an absolutely great shot that I can safely predict Jacksonville will be better than any of those 3.
  6. Backup QB for the KC Chiefs. Todd Collins has made millions of dollars watching games the past 7 seasons. The only other player who comes to mind as pocketing $ for watching games is the NFL's all time "Mr. Inactive" Victor Allotey, who also was a member (I couldn't say also played with) both the Bills & KC.
  7. The Colts couldn't get a 1st for Faulk in his prime, so I don't think the RB market is down from prior years. The one thing Faulk & Henry had in common is they both wanted out & had the contract status to pull it off. Getting a 3rd for Henry is better than keeping him as a disgruntled backup for a year & then he leaves for nothing (since we better get a FA or 2 next year which would have negated getting a comp pick for TH) Holmes was the abberation-getting a 4th in midseason for a guy on the last year of his contract.
  8. What about integrity? Once you agree on a deal, it's a done deal (unless your name is Dusty Zeigler). If you run your business by agreeing to deals and then backing out of them after you've given your word, your word is worth nothing. I'd rather pick 10 spots lower than make a promise & break it. Word gets around and nobody trusts you anymore. That's why the whining from some other team when we didn't trade Henry to them on draft day was so laughable-they were never given a promise that the deal was done.
  9. It's amazing that when you read out of town articles on the Bills, half the time there is a factual inaccuracy that mkes you realize how little they know about what they are paid to write about. I'd be embarrassed to put my name on a published article and misstate my incorrect memories as facts. It's one thing if amateurs like us get something wrong, but someone is paying these guys-they should be held to a higher standard. Just today, on the main page I found two statements that were inaccurate. These guys need a fact checker before they go to the presses. The Tennessean: Henry became disgruntled when the Bills drafted Willis McGahee in 2001, then demanded a trade when he lost his starting job to the second-round pick. Fact: McGahee was a 1st round pick in 2003, Henry was the 2nd round pick in 2001. Sun Herald (South Mississippi) Losman was a first-round draft pick out of Tulane in 2004, but missed all of last season with a broken leg. When Buffalo's starting QB from last year, Drew Bledsoe, signed with Dallas in the offseason, Losman ascended to the starting position. Fact: Losman did not miss the entire season. He was the 3rd string QB for the final 8 games and played in several of those games. Technically, his statement about Bledsoe is misleading-Losman was named the starter, Bledsoe was released & then signed with Dallas. The writer's timeframe makes it look like Drew left by choice & the Bills were left with Losman as the starter.
  10. Because the Tennessee 3rd should end up very high 3rd round & Jax won't go beyond a 3rd with a contingent 2nd. Jax pick will be much lower in the round, so even if we go with the contingent 2nd, there's a chance Taylor comes back, puts Henry on the bench & we only get Jax's 3rd when we could have picked 20-25 picks higher with Tennessee's. Take the more certain thing now. I never could figure out why Jax was even negotiating an extension with a better back already there unless they feared Taylor is done, in which case they should have just given us a flat 2. Tennessee on the other hand will upgrade the position with Henry & an extension makes a lot more sense.
  11. He never came on, the host said Mortensen confirmed with league sources that Henry would go to Tennessee by Monday or Tuesday for a straight up pick not contingent pick. (Malta's version may be more accurate since I was typing when they were talking) Most prior reports are 3rd rounder, which if Tennessee is as bad as most people think will be in the mid 60's, almost as good as a late 2nd.
  12. It will be on ESPN Radio. My biggest worry is the Albany station will switch to the Yankee pregame show right before 12:25. I may have to make a mad dash to try to stream it.
  13. Mortensen is supposed to come on at 12:25pm Saturday 7/16 with the news
  14. To Canadian Bill: You could have saved yourself a lot of grief if you had just hit the edit icon & changed the title to Henry.
  15. What does the story inside say?
  16. Coming out of college, Hunter was a great special teams player, blocking 7 kicks his sr year. I don't know what he's done in Dallas. He's coming to get you, Rian. So we better replace Lindell before its too late.
  17. Not in the NFL, unless you signed a Rickey Williams-like contract, something no agent will ever do again.
  18. "You can get injured or killed by speeding in your vehicle. Getting injured or killed hurts the Dolphins. Unless she gets a gun, beating your B word is harmless to the TEAM." ** ** Reprinted without permission from the Miami Dolphins playbook.
  19. Keep Willis McGahee in a Bills uniform throughout his prime. Sorry, I couldn't resist crossing threads.
  20. Most of the trade Wilis group are forgetting one thing-Willis is going to be the main guy on offense, just like OJ was in the 70's. Ralph has already been through this with OJ and put up with his sh** until he was past his prime & traded him for a lot more than he was worth. Willis will get big $ his next contract, probably after this year and it will be done as a "salary cap saving" contract to avoid a bigger cap hit when his incentives kick in and inflate his 2006 cap #. Anyone who got their season ticket package last week should realize that the team is being marketed as Team Willis and when he has a big year he will be the main attraction. The Bills will be in no position from a PR standpoint to do anything but pay him, just like OJ in his prime. Any trade of Willis is about 5-8 years away.
  21. What Saban said: Dolphins | Saban Issues a Statement Regarding McMichael Tue, 12 Jul 2005 06:49:15 -0700 Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban issued a statement regarding the arrest of TE Randy McMichael. ''We certainly don't condone the conduct which has been alleged and we recognize the seriousness of the charges. However, we will not make a specific comment about this matter until we gather more information,'' Saban said. Last month, the team cut backup S Quintin Williams a day after he was arrested for driving 111 mph on I-595 in Broward County. McMichael, a starter, is unlikely to meet the same fate as Williams. What Saban meant: ''We certainly don't condone the conduct which has been alleged and we recognize the seriousness of the charges. However, we're a football team. These are violent criminals which it has taken years to assemble on our roster. I'm more likely to get rid of some pansy Rob Johnson type than a guy who can contribute to my football team. Criminals are more aggressive, and I like aggressive players. Shoot, I knew when I took this job that this team would take any felon that they were not beaten to the punch to by Al Davis. I was told by Wayne 'there are going to be arrests, suspensions and a lot of s*** from these players, if you can deal with it, here's a few million $, if not hit the road college boy'. I'm no college boy I can coach any scum they give me as long as he's got talent. F***, I wish Cecil Collins would get paroled, I'd take him over that laid back Rickey guy."
  22. His father was murdered 7 years after the training camp incident. Sun Oct 1 2000 21:34:17 Joe Parrella, 63 - murdered GRAND ISLAND, Neb. Police investigating slaying of pro football player's father -- (Oregon Live) Authorities were investigating the shooting death of the father of San Diego Chargers player John Parrella but had made no arrests Sunday.
  23. From the letter that came with the tickets: "You should also be aware that we have bar-coded all of our tickets this season and we will be scanning tickets rather than tearing them at the entry gates this year." The 1st time I experienced this was at Continental Arena in NJ. Very efficient.
  24. He'll be gone long before we're picking at #32.
  25. Here are former Bills in the CFL. Most got cut before the season began. The most interesting player is Ed Phillion, a native Canadian who Walt Corey chose to keep over John Parrella. He's the only one to be a Bill longer than 1 season. The biggest name in the CFL is Andre Rison, currently on Toronto's IR/disabled list. Ed Phillion-Montreal Kwame Cavil-Mon Mo Unutoa-Ottowa Moe Elewenibi-British Columbia Jerel Myers -BC Demetrious Maxie -Calgary Doug Brown-Winnipeg Dave Mudge-Win Dave Hack-Hamilton James Cotton-Ham
