Here are 2 reasons why the Bills wouldn't have re-signed Araiza; 1) Martin got a lot of money & it would be a dead cap hit of $2,265,000 if he got cut before playing this season. It's a lot easier for fans who never go to games and only watch on TV to switch teams. I've been to 264 Bills games and it's way too late for me to get another team.

The 2020 line, when D. Williams had a good season at RT, was the best Allen has had, Hopefully, the 2023 line will become the vest so far. One of the things I point to about the 2018 season is that the Bills had a bad O-line & possibly the worst group of receivers on a Bills team in many years. In spite of that, Josh led the team to 5 wins in 11 starts (it could have been 6 if Peterman hadn't been put in the Houston game after Josh got injured) and made a pedestrian WR like Robert Foster look like a solid NFL player. Even as a raw rookie, he was elevating the talent around him. Yes, he made some bad decisions at times, but the good far outweighed the bad (at least IMO).

This shows the difference between fans who don't see the games & rely on stats and those who watch every game. The most critical people in the media were national guys who rely on stats & highlights and never saw a full Bills game in 2018. There were also plenty of fans who didn't like the pick & were ignoring those flashes of brilliance. I remember on another board telling a Josh critic "You don't know how to watch football".

As long as there have been televised drafts, the opinions have always been relevant. Things existed before the internet, whether you believe it or not. In fact, many of those things were recorded on videotape or printed in newspapers, magazines and books.

Guys with criminal records often are classified as undraftable & unsignable by teams. Some teams had Richie Incognito on their blacklist due to all his problems in college, however all it takes is one team to draft a guy for him to get in the league. In the past teams like the Bengals & Seahawks were notorious for drafting guys with off the field problems. Lately the Chiefs have had some very questionable picks who they viewed as bargains because other teams wouldn't touch them.

I remember in 1989 when the Jets picked Jeff Lageman Mel Kiper said the Jets don't know how to use the draft. Also when the Bills drafted John Fina they brought up the point that Kiper didn't even do a write-up in his draft report. I also remember John Fina defending himself. Both Lageman & Fina had decent careers. There was also the big argument on TV between Kiper & Indy GM Bill Tobin where Tobin basically said Kiper knows nothing.
