  1. See the other thread that this one should be merged with.
  2. If it's really xssports, they went on a thread in the Zone & said they will be on at 7:30.
  3. Things have changed so much since abortion was illegal, many people either are too young to know or have forgotten why there was a push to legalize it. Back when it was illegal, women who had money could travel out of the country and have safe abortions. Women who couldn't afford it played Russian Roulette with their lives, some not surviving an abortion as a result. That's the real reason for the push to legalize abortion-women were dying. Now there's more to the story-back in the days before Roe v Wade, our society would stigmatize both woman & child who were the result of an unmarried pregnancy, this doesn't seem to be as much of an issue these days as it did 40-50 years ago. What was once called a "bastard", is now "the child of a single mother". So the urgency to avoid being ostracized by society is somewhat of a moot point. Also, before the pill, birth control was a lot less effective, another reason the issue is quite different today. Plus there is now the morning after pill. Whenever the issue comes up, I remember the women who either couldn't afford another child or didn't want to be stigmatized and died as a result. I really can't say what the effect would be if there was no place in the USA where abortion was legal. That would be the only true test since if it was legal in a few states, those states would have women seeking abortions going there. Since both society & science have changed so much, the issue is quite different than when the politician from the souther tier cast the deciding vote to make abortion legal in NYS.
  4. There are rumors on other Bills sites that Justin TV/xssports will have the game again. If they do I'll stay home, if there's nothing by 7:45, I'm headed to a sports bar.
  5. Do they suspend you if your estrogen level is too high?
  6. Ken Johnson was the backup QB in 1977. He had started his career in the World Football League in 1974, then signed with the Bills in June 1977. He then went on to play a few years in the CFL after the Bills released him in August 1978. He also played in the USFL. The USFL Guide and Register says "Active for 14 games with Buffalo Bills in 1977; did not play". Fred Besana was the Bills 5th round pick in 1977. He is listed in the Bills media guide as being with the team in 1977. The USFL Guide and Register says "Active for 2 games with Buffalo Bills in 1977; did not play". Besana went on to be the starting QB of the USFL's Oakland Invaders. So there were 3 QBs on the 1977 roster: 1-Joe Ferguson 2-Ken Johnson 3-Fred Besana
  7. Yes, we make it to the Super Bowl. No, Peters reports before opening day. Here's just a peek into the future: JP is with the team in 2010 after getting cut, JP comes back to be our backup. Any more questions? I've got a sports almanac from 2020 that I picked up while getting a ride from Doc Brown.
  8. Donahoe was in negotiations long before he was named on the 10th. I had no doubts that all Ralph did was clear out the Coach before Donahoe became official. Donahoe wanted nothing to do with Wade. If Wade had been Coach on the 10th, he wouldn't have been on the 11th.
  9. You called it, I think you're projecting.
  10. If he doesn't show he doesn't get paid the millions of $ he's under contract to make. It's a lot easier not showing up for camp than it is the regular season. He'll show.
  11. Move that SD @ Buffalo game into the Bills win column.
  12. That really is a myth. All sticking up for Ronnie Jones did was give Ralph an excuse to yank Wade's health insurance & try not to pay him. The real reason Wade got fired-Tom Donahoe came in and wanted his own man. Go back to his quotes before the 2001 season where after he hired Gregg Williams he made some very unflattering quotes about the way the Bills were previously coached. There was no way Donahoe was going to keep Wade. Jones was just a convienient excuse to do what they were going to do anyway.
  13. Only because Marv & the rest of the guys in the room stuck with their draft board & didn't reach for a CB just because the fans wanted them to. A disgruntled RB for a starting QB & part of the Stroud trade-beautiful. Marv wasn't GM for long, but his work will result in winning football for the next decade.
  14. You don't hide an injury with a holdout because they give you a physical when you report. So you can't get any extra $ this way. I've seen this injury thing floated in posts before & I can't understand what part of he has to take a physical you people don't get. He won't get paid squat before a physical, so what possible logic can you come up with to suggest he's hiding an injury. Because as of now he's not geting paid squat until he shows up. He gains nothing by hiding an injury unless it's career ending & he likes to see his name listed on NFL.com as an NFL player.
  15. We hear that there are some in the Jaguars’ organization who have been turned off by new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams’ brash, sometimes arrogant behavior. The latest incident occurred when he lashed out at a member of the public-relations staff at practice when he believed he saw a camera crew taping his hand signals, an incident for which he apologized afterward. http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/The+W...rapup081708.htm
  16. One time I left my interior light on in my parents' garage when they lived on Long Island. I had to call AAA to jump it & I didn't have the code to get the radio back. I called the dealer in Albany & they didn't know it, so I ended up buying a portable TV/Radio for around $10-15 & played the radio on the way home. The code is usually in a separate place from the owner's manual.
  17. That's winning the Super Bowl, you'd have to give me AFC Champ odds for your equation to work. Answers to prior responses: It costs more than $107 to get to Las Vegas, so the go to Vegas & bet the $107 doesn't work. Upper must be upper corners, closest to the endzone-there are no pure upper endzone seats.
  18. Gaines made a lot of errors on the field. Watching him in a game was very frustrating.
  19. I get to buy two upper endzone tickets at face value. I still have to pay $700 or more each, but I don't have to worry about paying anything over face. It comes out to me paying $53.50 per ticket over face & I'll get the other $53.50 back from Petrino if they get in. It's my gamble so he can't lose anything but could end up paying face + $53.50 if we're in.
  20. I figured it was worth a shot and the Bills are much lower & available than the popular teams like the Patriots. So I bought 2 Super Bowl futures from FirstDIBZ for $50 each plus $7 fee. If the Bills make the Super Bowl, I now can buy the tickets at face value (I lose the $107 if they don't make it). I first read about this place (it used to be called The Ticket Reserve) in the Buffalo News in a commentary article by Bob DiCesare in the 9/21/05 paper. If you want to check out what some teams are going for, check out the site, go to Pro Sports, Super Bowl XVIII, and click on all team prices. http://www.firstdibz.com/home.html
  21. Unless team management sees a lot more in Hamden than he's shown so far, I can't see a reason for keeping him on as 3rd stringer. Nall was a better alternative at 3rd string going into last season & we cut him. We can keep Baker on the PS if we get an injury. Besides, if one of our top 2 go down, we're going to need a guy who actually has some NFL experience. So the way I see it, we keep 2 QBs, keep a young guy on the practice squad, and if we lose either QB we go to the scrap heap for a veteran, or bring back Hamden like we did with Nall last year if they feel no better alternative is available.
  22. I'm more concerned about the Dolphins than the Jets. Favre may have looked good, but I'm listening to the Miami-Jax game & they are raving about the 2 Chads. They are loving Henne on the Miami broadcast. A year from now, the Jets won't have a QB, but Miami will.
  23. Here's the reason I believe why JP is still here: The team couldn't bring in a proven veteran backup this year, because the maket for one is around $2 million/season. Since JP is already here, and on his rookie contract, you can pay him more than Edwards. However, you just can't bring in a veteran backup for $2 million when your starter is making a lot less-bad politics. So next year, if Edwards proves his worth, he'll get a big $ extension, like Butler did after starting the full year in his 2nd year with the team. With Trent making the big $, you can pay the backup $2 million & not rock the boat politically.
  24. I have two: 1) Bills/Denver game 1990. After the Bills take the lead, the D starts playing soft. In the heat of the moment I yell out "Where's the f'n defense." I had virtually an entire section glaring at me like they would to a Dolphin fan. 2) Bills at New England 2007. Wilfork takes his dive at Losman's knee. JP is on the ground, I yell out "Don't get up!" Definitely unsportsmanlike conduct on my part.
  25. He played in a dome last night. He still hasn't proven he can play in a blizzard or a monsoon, like what he faced last December-the type of weather that happens once in a generation but because it happened in the same month started a myth.
