  1. Bingo! Ever since Brohm got here there has been a group that has been clamoring for him to become the starter. I also think that many, obviously not all, were the same ones telling us "JP got screwed" back in 2007. Some of the rest are guys who liked him in college & think his college game can equate in the same way to the NFL. All this time they've spun things like a top. They've made more excuses why he is so much better than he actually is. The Trent haters are bad enough, but the worst ones are the anti-Fitzpatrick crowd who have been insisting all offseason Fitzpatrick would get cut, which when you look at the way he won with little last season, defied all logic. The majority of the Fitz is getting cut crowd broke into 2 groups-the Ralph is too cheap for the #2 QB to be the highest paid, by far, QB on the roster & the Fitz isn't pretty enough on the field group. Now from my posts, some would consider me anti-Brohm, but in reality it's his fanatics who are driving me crazy, not Brohm himself. All Brohm has done since he got here is work hard & try-I have nothing against that. Here's what I think is a fair assessment of Brohm: He's nowhere nearly as good as his fans think he is. Right now he's 3rd string for a reason, Fitzpatrick & Edwards are better NFL QBs today than Brian Brohm. Can Brohm improve? Maybe, but no QB drafted as highly as Brohm who was cut in his 1st contract has ever amounted to much, so the odds are against him. His biggest strength is his ability to stand in & hit short passes-sort of a poor man's Trent Edwards. His biggest weakness, one I haven't seen discussed by his fans-He is too inconsistant on his sidelines passes, the longer the throw the more inaccurate he gets. It appears that he does not have a good feel for what it takes to keep the ball inbounds. Too many sidelines passes are too far out of bounds for the receiver to get a pass completion that counts.
  2. http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/09/04/uninspiring-presence-brings-leinart-down-in-desert Sound Familiar? His reluctance to throw the deep ball and tendency to instead settle for check-downs became a bright red flag that was impossible for Whisenhunt to ignore.
  3. It's not the money! The reason none of these veteran players will come here is because they can choose which team to sign with & at this point in their careers, they want to sign with a contender, not a rebuilding team. Another reason from the Bills side and once again it's not about the money: why sign a stopgap veteran during a rebuilding year when you need to develop young players? IT'S NOT ABOUT THE BILLS BEING CHEAP!!!!!!
  4. It's a pretty good deal for the PS players-they make over $80,000 if they last the season. How many 22-25 year olds are making over $80,000 after not getting the job they tried to get? That's for 17 weeks, less than 1/3 of the year.
  5. Fassel must be happy, he gets his QB back in Las Vegas.
  6. PS prediction: Brohm Anderson Hennessey Ramsey Harris (I don't know which one) Sargeant Jones Coleman
  7. Jones didn't show much & will get cut too. David Nelson was the best rookie receiver this preseason & is a lock to make the team.
  8. The bolded statement is oxymoronic, you have to cut Brown to get him on the PS. What if Chan was telling the truth yesterday and believes Brown has a future in the NFL? Why would he cut a player he believes could have a future just because he isn't ready in his rookie year? In 2000 the Patriots had drafted a QB in the 6th round who wasn't ready but they were afraid to expose him to waivers, so they kept 4 QBs that season. According to your post, they should have cut Brady in an attempt to put him on their PS & if he got claimed, they could just get another 6th round QB in 2001. Well in 2001 there were 2 6th round QBs-Josh Booty & Josh Heupel. Do you think the Patriots would have won even 1 Super Bowl with either Josh?
  9. Right on both counts. It does appear that the JP crowd still can't get over his loss and latched on to Brohm. Anyone who compares throwing a baseball from the outfield to quarterbacking in the NFL has really reached deep into the excuse pile. The real answer will come if Brohm gets cut. If GB doesn't claim him on waivers, then they couldn't have had any long term interest in keeping him other than as an insurance policy last November, when it was too late to expect a practice squad player to learn their offense and be #2 if either of the top 2 went down for the rest of the season. If GB claims him off waivers, then their intentions were more along the lines of what the Brohm fans have been saying.
  10. The coaches don't care that the guy dropped the ball & it got intercepted. They're not looking at stats. Brohm's not getting cut because a TE messed up on a well thrown ball. If he gets cut it will be because he lacks the accuracy that a starting NFL QB has at this point in is career. The biggest weakness I've seen in Brohm's game is his lack of ability to judge where to throw it where it stays inbounds on a sideline pass. If the coaches think they can work with him he stays, if they think Levi has better potential, then Brohm goes. The INT on his stat sheet is irrelevant-the decision makers saw the play & will review the film & will completely exonerate Brohm for the INT.
  11. Because they thought he was better than Hamdan, he was brought in to replace Hamdan on the roster, not Edwards. Why wouldn't they want a guy with more upside than a guy who was destined to go to the CFL and retire before the season even began? Brohm makes sense as a developmental 3rd stringer, not a future starter. If Edwards fails the whole team fails & a 1st round QB is the future starter, not Brohm.
  12. Here are the rules: Brohm cleared waivers in September, the Bills did not claim him. Once he cleared waivers he was free to sign with anyone, 53 man roster or practice squad. Obviously nobody was interested in having him on their 53 man roster last September because he cleared waivers & didn't sign with anyone else. Then GB offered him a spot on their practice squad and he accepted. Best case scenario-when they waived him GB told him if he cleared waivers they wanted him to sign and be on their practice squad. As a member of a practice squad, Brohm was basically a free agent who practiced with GB. He was free to sign a contract with any team willing to add him to their 53 man roster. When the Bills offered Brohm a contract he was free to sign with the Bills, he did not have to clear waivers a 2nd time.
  13. You have no idea if Buddy had anything to do with bringing in Brohm, it could have been John Guy. The only conclusion one can make was that Jauron was comfortable with Hamdan & was not interested in bringing in Brohm to replace Hamdan. As soon as Dick was gone Hamdan was too & Brohm was in-all else is pure speculation.
  14. I can't disagree more with the bolded statement. One thing the coaches do, unlike many of the fans who just review stats, is evaluate with their own eyes and look at films carefully in player evaluation. If a WR causes an incompletion, they are not going to hold it against the QB in their evaluation. Same thing goes for horrible OL play. The Brohm interception on the stat page looks bad, in reality, it was all on the receiver & the coaches know that. Brohm is 50-50 to make it, but the evaluation will come after a careful review of how HE has played in practice & games and not how his teamates have failed him.
  15. If Levi Brown is cut, why bother bringing him back to the practice squad? If the Bills keep Brohm over Brown, they'll need to spend time with him trying to develop him, because contrary to pre-season Brohm enthusiasm, he's a project. How much time do the coaches have to spend developing QBs?
  16. At the beginning of the season, no fan wants 1-15. It's in December when the team is bad when I start thinking about the bad record. If they're 5-5, I'm looking to go 11-5, not 5-11. but if we're 1-10, I'd rather lose out & get the top pick than see them go 5-11 & miss out but still suck.
  17. Bad news for Chambers. They'll probably cut him with the idea of maybe re-signing him after salaries aren't guaranteed if he's needed.
  18. Based on age & draft status (1st rd vs undrafted FA) Lynch has more trade value than Jackson. Plus, of the two, Lynch is the guy who wants out of here. Trade Lynch when a contender loses its #1 RB after a few weeks & have Jackson, Simpson & Bell backing up Spiller.
  19. The Bills chose Nelson over Easley for this season. Nelson is healthier & will end up contributing a lot more than Easley would have this season. When Easley comes back next year, he can battle S. Johnson for a roster spot.
  20. I can't believe Brohm is so bitter he just joined TBD & has to vent on TSW. Nice 1st post Brian. Trent is the starter, looked pretty darn good tonight. All Brohm did was hand off and throw a long pass out of bounds in mop up duty. This irrational Brohm is better than Edwards stuff has to stop. The coaches, who practically live with these guys have done their evaluations and at best, have decided Brohm is not ready and will be kept around to try to develop. Meanwhile, like him or not, Trent Edwards is currently light years ahead of Brohm. I don't know if that's a positive for Edwards or a real negative for Brohm.
  21. There's no room for Marshawn Lynch on this roster once Freddy is back. I hope they can get something good for him once he is healthy (and maybe another team has their #1 RB go down). The longer Lynch is around, the worse it gets for him & the Bills. Spiller is the present & the future. Marshawn is the past.
  22. Change your opinion yet? No coach cuts his #1 veteran backup QB to keep two unknown quantities unless the starter is entrenched like a Manning and the backup doesn't stand much of a chance of getting in. With Edwards injury history, Gailey never intended to throw away an entire season by getting rid of Fitzpatrick. Now I wouldn't be surprised at all if not only does Brown get cut, but he never gets on the practice squad because there's only room to develop 1 project & it's more likely to be Brohm than Brown. I think whoever gets cut-Brohm or Brown is gone for good.
