Should Barkley be the holder on kicks?
Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I give him until next Monday or Tuesday when they can sign a veteran punter and not have to guarantee his salary for the whole season. -
Since Borjoquez is on very thin ice, we could have another season of musical chairs at the P position. Why keep switching holders when the backup QB can provide stability there? Years ago the backup QBs were the holders. Frank Reich did it for years. Doesn't it make more sense for the holder to be someone with a secure roster spot that the kicking unit can get used to having around?

I grew up on Long Island and met many people from Brooklyn who spoke that way. In fact I had 2 bosses in my teens who used the word youse whenever they addressed people. One summer I had a boss who used to tell us "This is what youse gotta do, youse gotta take out the gabbage"

When will the Bills announce their Captains?
Albany,n.y. replied to CEN-CAL17's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's coming back for week 2. That's what the holdup is for. -
They're probably going to cut him & put him on the practice squad when he comes off the suspension. Nobody is going to claim him & if they do it's no great loss.

Week 1 Bills unofficial depth chart
Albany,n.y. replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pronunciation Guide: Bojorquez-Soon to be on waivers I think he's on double secret probation. Unless he has a great game against the Jets the Bills are going to sign a veteran P whose salary doesn't have to be guaranteed after week 1. Personally I hope he never has to punt this week & all the Bills kicks are extra points & kickoffs. -

I put my future bets in on the Bills season today
Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm pretty sure they have Super Bowl bets since I was able to get a future on the Bills making the playoffs, but I never looked for the Super Bowl. If you're there it's easier using the kiosks, they have someone there to help you. Their phone # is on my tickets, if you have any questions you can call them at 518-579-8800, but don't be shocked if they don't know the answer. I went to the window 1st, the teller didn't know about futures, then her supervisor told me to check the kiosk, the kiosk guide knew where to get to the futures & I bet it there. Also since the odds for the Bills are around 80/1 to 100/1 from what I've seen online, if you're betting enough to bring the potential winnings to over $10,000 I'd advise breaking them into smaller tickets since on the back of my tickets it says you need ID if the payment is over $10,000. I put my future bets in on the Bills season today
Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They're only 7.5-1 to win the division per what I found on the internet, a little less than half that to at least get a wild card is reasonable. I wrote 3.5 when it's really 3.25-1. I expect a 10 win season & playoffs, my break even point is 2 wins fewer than my expectations: NFL - AFC DIVISIONS - TO WIN - SEP 10 AFC EAST DIVISION - TO WIN Wager cut off: 2019 10th September 3:00 PM ROT TEAM ODDS 10201 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -475 10202 NEW YORK JETS +525 10203 BUFFALO BILLS +750 10204 MIAMI DOLPHINS +5000 -
I put my future bets in on the Bills season today
Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think of them as dollars. Say I bet $10 per unit, bet 1 would be $40 to get back $60, Bet 2 would be $40 to get back $80, Bet 3 would be $40 to get back $120, Bet 4 would be $20 to get back $85. Total bet $140, total returns: at 6 or fewer wins, pays 0 lose $140, at 7 wins pays $60 lose $80; at 8 wins break even pays $140; at 9 wins pays $260, profit of $120; win 9 or more and make playoffs pays $345, profit of $205. -
I went to Rivers Casino in Schenectady today. I bet a total of 14 units spread out over 4 scenarios: Bet 4 units on Over 6.5 wins. This is the lowest odds of bet 2 units to win another unit (Odds 1/2). Pays 6 units Bet 4 units on Over 7.5 wins. Even money bet 1 unit to win another unit (Odds 1/1). Pays 8 units Bet 4 units on Over 8.5 wins. Bet 1 unit to win another 2 units (Odds 2/1). Pays 12 units Bet 2 units on Bills making the playoffs. Bet 1 unit to win another 3.25 units. Pays 8.5 units. EDIT: The original said 3.5 when it should be 3.25 Basically, the break even point is 8 wins & no playoffs. 9 wins produces a 12 unit profit & 9 or more wins & the playoffs produces a 20.5 unit profit.

As others have said, players & coaches don't tank, but management does. When management puts together a really bad roster the guys on the field & on the sidelines can try as hard as they want and they'll still get their butts kicked all season. The sport that tanking has worked best at recently is baseball. Teams like the Astros & Cubs stripped the major league talent down to nothing, lost over 100 games & a few years later were World Champions. Nobody ever accused a player or manager of tanking but they all knew they were in for a long season when they looked around and didn't see much talent in the locker room.

Home. If the game isn't on TV in Albany then I go to OTB's Clubhouse Race Book. There I get my own booth with a TV where I can listen to the sound instead of being at some sports bar where you can't hear what the announcers are saying. I still like going to games although I'm down to about 1 a season in Orchard Park and a road game. This year I get to go to the 1st 2 games of the season because Met Life is the closest stadium to Albany.

I never want to see Matt Darr on a list of possible pickups ever again. He's the worst punter the Bills have had this century.

He was quite the star on his high school team in real life. Here's his wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_O'Neill O'Neill was born into an Irish-American Catholic family in Youngstown, Ohio.[4][5] His mother, Ruth Ann (née Quinlan), was a homemaker and social worker, and his father, Edward Phillip O'Neill, was a steel mill worker and truck driver.[6] O'Neill attended Ursuline High School before transferring to Worthington High School and winning a state championship, earning the name Ed O'Winner and winning a football scholarship to Ohio University, where he majored in history, also joining the Mu chapter of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.[7] O'Neill left Ohio after his sophomore year; he spent more time playing sports and partying than studying[7] and also feuded with his coach. He transferred to Youngstown State University, where he was a defensive lineman. While an undergraduate, O'Neill pledged Delta Sigma Phi and was initiated into the Delta Sigma chapter there. Rumors abound that he was an avid partier.[6] O'Neill was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1969 but was cut in training camp.[5][6][8] Later, on Married... with Children, O'Neill played a former high-school football star who had failed to make it big and constantly reminisced about his "glory days" at Polk High ("I once scored four touchdowns in a single game"). As part of this theme, former Pittsburgh Steelers great and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw also made two guest appearances on the show. O'Neill was also a substitute social studies teacher at Ursuline High School before becoming an actor.[6]

Here's the upside: Every one of them will always have the memory of having tried something that was their dream. The smart ones will always cherish the moments when they can always say they tried to be a professional football player. Some will use that to get a foot in the door at lucrative careers. One of the most successful cuts in an NFL camp is actor Ed O'Neil who went on to star in Married With Children & Modern Family.

Fitzpatrick officially named starter in Miami
Albany,n.y. replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They really just took a low risk flyer on him. They took their original 2nd rounder, packaged it & traded it down & got a 2020 2nd rounder and then sent the lower 2nd round pick to Arizona. Very low risk considering their original 2nd helped get them an additional 2nd in the next draft. -

When Ch 23 (Spectrum Ch 8 in Albany) was having technical difficulties with the pregame show I looked for an alternative & found one. Then they got the game on, so I linked it before I went into the living room to watch it.

punter battle over for now. the bills released carter
Albany,n.y. replied to WMDman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I heard this on the radio a couple of days ago- In the NFL the most important ability is availability. Carter was unavailable way too often to be counted on. Injured in back to back preseasons. -
