  1. ...and both times it was the #1 pick of the draft, in part due to Rosen's "contribution" to the team "attaining" that pick.
  2. Obviously not to Gettleman. Since nobody was willing to give Arizona anything higher than pick 48, it looks like after seeing Rosen in the NFL in 1 season, a lot of NFL GMs think at this point that Jones has more upside than Rosen. If you think the NYG picked Jones at 6 when he would definitely have been there at 17, you are underestimating what the other GMs thought of Jones and overestimating what they think of Rosen. Gettleman was concerned enough to take no chance on losing Jones before pick 17. Who knows, maybe the Dolphins would have gladly spent their 1st rounder on Jones but would never think of surrendering it for Rosen.
  3. So in 1 year the Cards took the 15th, 79th & 152nd picks of the 2018 draft and turned that into pick 48 of the 2019 draft and over $8 million of dead cap space for 2019. BRILLIANT!
  4. I was listening yesterday when he went on a rant saying he does this for a living & knows more than his callers. It reminded me of the time I was watching a Republican presidential debate and somebody mocked Michelle Bachmann & she said "I'm a serious candidate for president of the United States." I haven't heard anything that funny and detached from reality until I listened to Schopp yesterday.
  5. By draft day everyone knows who the Bills want at #1 and Beane not only doesn't care, but gets the guy anyway at the lowest possible price. Last year everyone paying attention in the media who put out a mock draft had the Bills trading up for Allen and Beane was still able to trade up and not have to give up his 2nd #1 or his 2019 #1. This year, once again, the Bills never hid their love for Oliver and just sat there & waited until their turn came to pick him.
  6. The Jones pick reminds me of another QB the Giants took in the top 10. I was living in the NYC suburbs at the time & the media & fans went nuts when the Giants used the 7th pick in the draft to take a kid from that QB factory Morehead State. Phil Simms had a pretty good career.
  7. I wanted nothing to do with DK at pick 9 but at 40 I wouldn't complain. I wouldn't move up for him, but now that the 1st round is over he's worth a shot that I didn't feel he was at 9. If the Bills draft him I'm going to have to stop calling him Decay Metcalf, at least for now.
  8. This Rosen stuff reminds me of the incompetence of Buddy Nix. He drafted Spiller in the 1st round and totally devalued Marshawn Lynch's trade value by not trading him until 1 month into the season. As it turned out, drafting Spiller was a mistake & 1st demoralizing Lynch and then shipping him off for what turned out to be Chris Hairston & Tank Carder, who got waived before the start of his rookie year, was an even bigger mistake. When Marshawn talks he's very diplomatic about his trade from the Bills. The truth is from the draft until October the Bills basically treated him as persona non grata and he saw his carries decreased in 2010 and then the Bills got virtually nothing for him in a trade when Buddy could have gotten a lot more if he had handled the situation differently. Even worse, the Bills never needed Spiller to begin with since they already had Fred Jackson.
  9. If there's no need to dump Rosen for virtually nothing. Look at what happened in San Diego when they drafted Rivers. Brees stuck around and turned his career around and beat out Rivers before eventually leaving as a free agent on the way to a HOF career.
  10. Mock drafts suck & draft experts aren't experts.
  11. They went by the rule never let a player you want in the 1st get away by trying to get him later. I've had Jones to the NYG all along.
  12. If the Bills think they're getting a difference maker then they make the trade. Think it's too much? Well let's go back to the Bennet trade: 2 #1s, a #2 & their #1 from 2 years before (G. Bell). That was a 4 for 1 trade for a player they felt could disrupt things on D. Nobody said Polian was nuts for making that trade.
  13. The biggest steal in draft history was 4th string his rookie year and barely got on the field except for pregame warmups.
  14. Manuel: Virtually everyone on the planet except Nix & Whaley knew the class of 2013 was the worst QB class since 2007, but instead of resisting the urge and waiting another year the dynamic duo of Nix & Whaley had to take a QB. It doesn't matter if they got a #2 for trading down, they blew the pick by taking a QB, period. No QB was worthy of a 1st round grade. Ironically, Matt Barkley, our current backup was in that draft.
  15. If he really wants to do what is in the best interest of the team he'd resign and take crazy eyes with him. One more Gase:
  16. Bring him to the Bills offices & don't let him out of the building. I mean literally, don't let him out of the building-never let him get on the field.
  17. He'd still be president, but Don Jr & Eric would be "running things". Also Rex would still be coach because he would have complimented Trump enough to keep his job.
  18. My guess is he's preparing himself for a trade and putting his best foot forward. He was one of the 1st to report for Arizona's off season program & it was a statement that he can handle whatever the future is, in Arizona, or more likely somewhere else. I'm curious what the final deal will be. The last time something like this happened was after Steve Young's 1st 2 seasons in Tampa, the Bucs had the #1 pick and jettisoned Young to SF for 2nd & 4th round picks. They then drafted Heisman Winner Vinny Testaverde. Young is in the HOF, Vinny is not.
  19. Not very often because every time he tried to he got sacked.
  20. I believe the Frankenstein reference was about the late James Hardy.
