  1. Real Sports had a segment that recommended every football team at all levels have an ice tub available for when a player collapses with heat exhaustion. They save lives.
  2. He's only 68, there have been assistant coaches in their 70s. Head coaches too, he's only 1 year older than Belichick. He was an assistant coach for 19 years in the NBA. If he can translate his NBA experience to the NFL, why not give him a chance?
  3. Here's why it can't be done. Wipes out too many parking spaces. Also, the stadium is too close to Abbott rd. They would have to close the road permanently and the people trying to go south on Abbott would have to re-route like they have to do on gamedays all the time instead of around 10 times a year.
  4. It was the joke of a duo of Nix/Gailey who traded Lynch, not because Ralph didn't want to pay him, but because the duo didn't like his off the field stuff. So, instead of building his trade value up, they tore it down by drafting another RB in the 1st round, then demoralizing Lynch making him unwelcome & taking snaps away from him. So after that Lynch was glad to get away from a team that (yes, through Ralph's "contribution") had become a place where nobody wanted to come to and had no chance of winning for the foreseeable future. That's how we got Gailey in the 1st place since the situation was so bad, Nix had to hire a coach whose last NFL stop was getting fired as an OC in preseason because no self respecting coach would come here. I still don't get the love Gailey gets around here-he sucked as a HC, exemplified by the time he lost a game by punting from his opponent's 34 yard line because he didn't trust his kicker to try a 51 yard FG or trust his offense to get a 1st down.
  5. Kelly was drafted in 1983. Polian didn't join the Bills until August 2, 1984 when he was hired as director of pro personnel. Polian was GM when Kelly signed his 1st Bills contract after the USFL let the players go to the NFL in 1986 before officially folding.
  6. In this century the Bills have been bad when trading 1st round picks, up or down. 2002- Traded 2003 1st rounder for Bledsoe 2004-Traded back into the 1st round for JP Losman giving 2005 #1 to Dallas as part of the deal. 2013-Traded down & used the lower 1st rounder on EJ Manuel 2014-Traded up trading their 2014 & 2015 1st rounder in the Sammy Watkins trade 2017-Traded down giving KC the best young QB in the NFL 2018-The jury is out but it may be that Beane has stopped the bad 1st round trades of the 2000s. We'll be able to better evaluate those trade ups when Allen & Edmunds go for their 2nd contracts.
  7. Here's my Jim Everett story. Years ago I got into the habit of bringing a little Sony Watchman TV with me to games, mainly because the Bills didn't have a replay scoreboard. One time a group of us went to NE to see the Bills play the Patriots. On the way home we went to a rest stop on I-90 in Massachusetts. I turned on the Jets/Rams game while we ate at Sbarro. On one play the Jets intercepted Everett & I yelled very loudly "you suck" at the TV. Several people turned in my direction & thought I was fighting with someone at our table. I had to explain to them I was yelling at Jim Everett on my little TV and we were all getting along at our table.
  8. Never left. I was with a friend who wanted to leave but I couldn't even if I wanted to (which I didn't since I learned never to leave a game after I left the famous Joe Ferguson comeback game & heard the cheers in the parking lot). When he suggested we leave I told him not only no way, but my friend who I was driving back to Albany was in another part of the stadium & I wasn't going to go down to his seats & suggest he leave early. Finally I told my friend next to me if he wanted to, I'd give him my car keys & he could sit in my car until the game ended. He declined the offer & every time the Bills scored I waved the car keys at him & asked him "do you want to leave now?" Finally after I did it a few times he called it "The key to victory".
  9. I remember the back page of the NY Post the day after the Colts sent Elway to Denver. The headline said GRAND THEFT ELWAY
  10. OK. Now I know. So I watched the WCPG vs Houston again & even 27 years later it's still great to see the amazing comeback.
  11. I found out about it the Tuesday after the Super Bowl, a few days before it was announced. We were on our way back from the Super Bowl and had a stop in Atlanta before going back to Albany. I called a friend who at the time was a teacher at St. Francis HS where Polian sent his sons and it was all over the school that Polian was fired. If the same thing happened a few years later I would have posted the news 2-3 days before it was announced . I would have probably been met with doubters not believing me without a link, just like the scoopers of today get when they get news that is days before it is announced. PS: When I was at the Atlanta airport I bought an Atlanta sweatshirt and wore it throughout the year & any time someone asked why I have an Atlanta sweatshirt I would tell them it was because in January 1994 I'd be going to the Super Bowl there. I did.
  12. After reading through this, I'm shocked how many of you think you'll be dead before February 2021.
  13. I'm a gambler chasing his losses. I already went to 4 Bills SB losses. I have to keep going to Bills Super Bowls until they win one.
  14. They were about 10x $500 on the secondary market even back in the fall. You were either getting pop-ups from some scam or one of those places that lets you prepay with different prices depending on what team you buy. At those sites if your team gets in you get the tickets at the price you gambled that they would make it, if another team gets in, you lose your money. I'll be at the game if I am physically able to go, hopefully with Petrino if he can make it.
  15. I have a Josh Allen jersey, do you? I'm just saying that in his 3rd season Mahomes is more advanced than Josh was in his 2nd. That's a fact. It doesn't mean Josh won't win the Super Bowl after his 3rd season. So, if you haven't already bought your Allen jersey, you better go out & buy one already, otherwise stop telling fans who already have one to buy a KC one when they state the fact that at this point Mahomes is better.
  16. Nonsense! The 2017 Bills had a decent OL with Wood & Incognito still around. They also had a younger Shady at RB. They won 9 games & made the playoffs. If Mahomes was the QB, they would have had a ton of early picks in 2018 to shore up the O-line (after Wood & Incognito) left & get a WR or 2. If Mahomes was playing in 2017 the Bills would be Super Bowl champs today.
  17. It will be their home game vs Houston, the NFL loves a repeat of champions Super Bowl run & Houston is the last team that played them that is on their schedule. It's almost a lock that the KC @ Buffalo game will be a night game.
  18. Super Bowl party at Al Cowlings' house.
  19. 3 PM Stubhub prices: $6,100 on Chrome, $7,000 on Edge both after $500 off list price. This is the opposite of earlier days when the tickets were cheaper on Edge than Chrome. Still nowhere where they were a week ago on Saturday.
  20. Even with the $500 off they're still $1,000 more than a week ago. They may end up lower in the next 24 hours, but I doubt they'll fall another thousand dollars. At some point the last possible moment means you have to travel to the city & get near the stadium where Stubhub sets up their distribution center. What time of day do you mean by last possible moment?
  21. When I went to the Derby in 2014, I checked out all the Rally Bus locations & it came down to Florence (Cincinnati airport) & Indianapolis. I chose Indianapolis because the walk from the motel to the Rally Bus pickup point at a Walmart was shorter. In Indy, I could book a Super 8 1 block from the bus pick-up. In Florence the pick-up point was at a shopping mall and the walk to/from the nearest motel was a lot longer than in Indy. I live about 40 miles from Saratoga so I don't need to stay anywhere, but I rarely go up there, maybe once a year, because it's easier to bet at home, without all the distractions of a day at the races.
  22. From the time WWII ended until many years later, there were always rumors & stories that Hitler was still alive. The last time I heard one was in the 1980s on the Mort Downey TV show when some guy got on and said he met Hitler in California years after the war. Nowadays we don't hear those stories anymore but I'm in my 60s & I heard tons of them when I was younger.
