Well said. It's definitely an advantage to not necessarily have to draft for need every freaking year because of a coaching change, scheme change, or letting top guys go in free agency. I'm intrigued to see what Beane does this year

My young padouin as stated in Star Wars, many state Marino, but Kelly kicked his ars for years because they only had super duper, meaning duper and clayton, no RB, no defense, and Kelly is one of the toughest QB's I've ever seen and that includes Favre who is one tough as nails QB. I couldn't believe how he would wait when the rules were different and would get tattoed so he made that ball to Lofton, Beebe, and my favorite, Over the Middle, Reed. If you are old enough to have watched every one of those games, you'd know what he meant to the AFCE and Buffalo. Ask Chris Berman?
That is not to take away from how magical Marino was in his day. Id still take Kelly six days a week and twice on Sunday. Kelly Tough!
I am old enough to have seen all those games. We all knew what Jim meant to the team from a toughness and leadership perspective, but it's difficult to see him as ever being a better pure QB than Marino. We were all much happier rooting for Kelly too.

I was thinking about this the other day too. I think Josh Allen is already the best QB in the division.
And then I thought - this is probably the first time in history that the Bills can claim that

Let them shift their game vs the Bills to Buffalo...

I was in college at the time (UB) and living in Rochester. That was about the coldest 2-3 week stretch I remember experiencing. Just day after day of mind-numbing temps with daytime highs in the single digits.
About 6 of us went to the game. There was no thought of tailgating. We had those instant handwarmers for our gloves and boots, but those tapped out by halftime. Luckily, my friend had a flask, and another friend went to take a leak at halftime, found a $20 on the ground and brought back hot cocoa for all.
But you could tell the Raiders wanted no part of that game in the 2nd half, once we started coming back from being 11 points down. The elements, our team, and the crowd were too much for them.

I'm fine with the TE room as is. No need to add salary at this time for marginal return

Hard to argue with the analysis. I think we're at least average at most of the key position groups and are drafting for depth and backfill. Which is a nice position to be in

I don't think the NFL wants to play more games in Jacksonville.
Neither does Jacksonville

I'm getting that there is a non-zero chance that we will have a shortened regular season.
But it seems highly unlikely - rather that they would just extend further into the spring if necessary. They're not giving up the cash cow of TV and stadium gate money.

...teams that maintain the most continuity are going to have an enormous advantage heading into the 2020 season, primarily because of the uncertainty regarding when/if teams will be able to get together to practice. Teams with new head coaches or significant changes on their staffs will be behind. Teams with lots of new faces will be behind. Teams relying heavily upon draft picks will be behind.
In this regard, I'm even more ecstatic with what Buffalo has to work with. Total continuity on the coaching staff. Key additions are veteran FAs. They will not have to rely upon immediate contributions from draft picks.
I think about teams like the Pats*** having to start a new QB...even in Tampa, so many new pieces to put together with Brady coming in. In the AFC I think the Bills, Chiefs, Ravens, and Titans look like the early favorites because they seem to have this continuity in spades.
OP, you are spot on. I've been thinking about this for some time now. The more this lingers, the better off the Bills should look this fall. Few teams have the continuity and team drive that the Bills will have. Significant competitive advantage, especially early in the year

The short answer is that if they're smart, they don't trade up. Frankly, this might be a year to trade down and stockpile picks for future years. How many rookies do we need to make this team? Likely - not many

I think we're mostly aligned to the desire to upgrade the position, but for way too many reasons, Winston is not the guy to do that with
-
RB is the last position that we should be investing FA resources on.
Draft, Draft, Draft - stay young, cheap, and healthy at the position
Lather, rinse & repeat

Lots of luck with that...
God I hope we're nowhere near that conversation

I'm thrilled with where we are on the D-line. Lots of depth, experience, versatility. This should be an area of strength for next year

what a waste of money for the Colts. That's how you stay in QB purgatory

He's a nice player and would have been good to keep at a reasonable price. But not at $10M per for only 50% of the snaps.
Can't keep everyone, and I'm OK with not overpaying to keep Shaq

How stupid could Bill O'Brien possibly be?

I like this move if the money is right. He's a beast when healthy and complements what Singletary brings to the table

he's only 25. I think his best days are in front of him.
OK, I'll bite...
- Has never played a full 16 game season without injury
- Has averaged 4.0 yards/carry through his first 3 seasons (despite having several long runs to boost that average)
- Weighs 230 lbs
- Has had trouble getting along with coaches and management
- Doesn't come across as the most motivated or hard working athlete
- Will want a big second contract
Again, I get that we want a big complementary back to Singletary. I just think we can do much better than this guy
-
Hard pass. Why give up assets and cap $ for a RB whose best days are behind him already, when you can draft a guy with a similar round pick

Hopefully this may mean that an extension is coming soon for McDermott (& perhaps for the GM too.).
Unsure how this is related. Also trying to understand what urgency there would be to extend McDermott and/or Beane with 2 years left on their contracts

Not sure why trading draft picks for rotational running backs is seen as a great move for the Fish. You could draft the same guy for 1/2 the price
