Derek Carr is exactly the kind of QB that you don't want to have on your team in this day and age
- Takes no chances in the pass game
- Not particularly athletic
- Leadership? Meh
- Puts up decent stats without the playmaking ability to back it up
- Really isn't getting better
- Doesn't play big against top competition
You need to either have a top 5-10 elite guy to pay for consistent excellency, or a guy on a rookie contract that either balls out or can be easily replaced by another draft pick
Anything in the middle is not particularly useful - Cousins, Stafford, Carr, Ryan, Dalton/Flacco (before they got replaced)

He's like 2002 Eddie Robinson bad.
I cringe every time I see him on the field, knowing that he's going to get picked apart somehow
-
I might be inclined to trade away a low first round pick every year for an elite and cost-controlled player like Diggs.
Of course, saying that doesn't necessarily mean there's a ton of those guys out there to be had, but there's something to be said for knowing what you're getting, and getting it right away when you're ready to win. Versus having to take the time and resources to hope that your rookie can develop and pan out

Please keep Adam Gase
That is all

Bills fans know the areas where Josh Allen passes the eye test. He's never going to be a "traditional" QB. Which is absolutely fine, given that model is quickly being debunked for good by several current outstanding QB's.
We also know how much he's improved, and is still improving. Stats prove it, and so do the team's results
We also love watching him. He excites us more than any QB we've ever had on the team, arguably. To be where he is after ~ 30 starts is incredible. Don't think for one second that after watching the 2018 draft that you wouldn't be ecstatic with where we are now.
Everything else is just noise

Welp, they should probably do it

This is not a problem
Repeat, this is not a problem
Let's focus on winning by THROWING the football

Successful screen plays will only open up the downfield passing game even more. This is the evolution of complimentary football that we were hoping for from Brian Daboll. Now that they have all the weapons, there's no excuse for lazy play-calling

Remember - next year, we'll be waking up late on Friday morning with a hangover from celebrating the raising of the banner the night before

It's Matt Patricia all the way. His players already openly hate him

Jeepers H Crackers, this is the worst post ever

Top running backs don't markedly improve a team's results. The market has proven that out over the last 20 years.
Teams that choose to pay these bloated contracts are just lighting $100 bills on fire. Mixon is a fine running back, but he's not really moving the needle for what the Bengals need to do to improve.
To echo other posters, this is fine as long as other teams choose to make these decisions. Glad it's not the Bills

At our Harrisburg Bills Backers bar, Tyrod was not called by name, simply referred to as "3 and Out".
I can't recall him ever throwing a pass for a long 3rd down completion
This is also why we love Josh Allen

Another power trip from Cuomo. I live in Texas and have been going to see the Sugar land Skeeters Independent league baseball team play. The stadium is at 25% capacity and it's extremely safe. There is no reason not to allow fans into games. I look forward to cheering on the Bills in Miami where Republican government is allowing life to get back to some sense of normalcy and not overreaching on their power.
I think there's about 175,000 reasons not to allow fans into games. But don't let that stand in the way of reason and prudence

There's no way he's not done with that team, and possibly the NHL

It truly mystifies me how this talking fart balloon keeps getting job opportunities in the league

we can't keep turning and churning these high performing draft picks. At some point, we have to start giving 2nd contracts. And it sends entirely the wrong message to the culture that McBeane are trying to build to ship a guy off just because he's not comfortable with playing this year. Shouldn't be any more complicated than that

I'm not conveniently forgetting anything. Fred Smerlas was still a better player at that age than Jeff Wright ever was. Wright couldn't plug a drain much less the middle of an NFL offensive line. Smerlas could.
Let's agree to meet in the middle and wish that they had Ted Washington from 1995

If they kept Smerlas one more year the Bills would have won a SB. With Smerlas at NT they wouldn't have been manhandled on the line like the Giants did to them.
You are conveniently forgetting that Freddie was probably 35 at the time and not exactly a full time player. They let him go at EXACTLY the right time, the mistake was thinking that a lightweight mullet Jeff Wright could man the position competently.

Can "Eddie Robinson gets juked by Chad Pennington" have its own day? I feel like I need to sit in a dark room all by myself that day.
This one is right up there with "Peyton Manning 40 Yard Naked Bootleg Day"

This is one of those great days in Bills' fandom. "Tyler Thigpen Ball to the Head Day", and "Dan Carpenter Helmet to the Face Day" are also tremendous holidays!
I'm partial to "Lonnie Johnson Getting Decked By the Punt Returner While Looking Back Day"

And this is why Beane's strategy of signing several mid-level veterans each year, most specifically for OL & DL, really starts to pay off. We have versatility, depth, and the ability to manage these types of situations better than most teams, simply because of the foresight of our leadership team. Plus, it helps build competition across the roster, and sometimes bears fruit with guys stepping up that you might not have expected, and flipping excess depth for draft picks.
Contrast that to previous regimes when 1 or 2 injuries and we're down to JAG's like John DiGiorgio having to take big roles

Thank god we're finally off this cycle of hiring failed retread coaches just because that's all that will take the job (Jauron, Gailey, Rex)
Who in their right mind hires Adam Gase coming off his stint in Miami? The red flags were all there, and if anything, they've gotten worse under the microscope in NY.
Teams that fail to learn from the past, deserve all the misery that they get

Gabe Davis isn't playing like a rookie

I know that Watkins & Evans were solid contributors pretty much right away as rookies, but Davis seems different. Mostly in that he doesn't have to be the man right away and is also contributing with blocking, solid route running, and complementing the top 3 guys. But you can definitely see a complete #1 receiver for us in the future
