  1. Build a time machine
  2. I'm laughing at the thought of fans viewing Knox as average. He doesn't have all the fancy receiving stats yet because he's sharing targets with a pretty strong group of WR's in a dynamic offense. But he was a game changer at several points last year and took a huge step forward. He'll be a $12M/year player on his next contract and that might be on the low end
  3. The Browns really screwed the rest of the league by giving Watson that huge contract. Every mediocre or better QB is going to basically tell their current teams to pay up or just wait to get traded and get the new desperate team to pay them. It's a win-win for the QB's As noted earlier, our contract with Josh is going to look smarter and smarter every year down the road
  4. I feel like it's more of an urban legend to think that Donte Whitner ever made a noteworthy play in a Bills uniform. They'll find Jimmy Hoffa before they ever unearth that footage
  5. To this day, this is the only playoff loss that I have ever had the stomach or inclination to re-watch. Probably because it was such a great game and spurred the team to the successes of the next few years.
  6. I think that your logic here is accurate - the salary cap structure isn't going to tolerate having top WR's paid like QB's. What's going to happen is that smart GM's start to understand that the incremental benefit of having a top WR isn't worth the incremental cost, and the position overall will start to get de-valued. Similar to what happened with RB's over the last 20-25 years. It's not quite the same comparison, but the market correction will occur, and eventually teams will begin treating WR's like more "fungible" assets. That's going to be a hard lesson to learn for top shelf WR's, but it's going to happen now that these salaries are getting downright ridiculous. And the value of first contract WR's is going to be even more critical
  7. Remember when we brought in T.O. to help a young QB that didn't throw the ball downfield? Remember when we drafted Sammy Watkins to help unlock EJ's potential? This isn't that much different
  8. Until the Dolphins have a QB that's anything above average, an owner with a clue, and a culture where they don't spin through coaches every 3 years, we are going to continue to win at least 75% of our games against them. Josh Allen is 7-1 against them with the lone loss being a ridiculous Charles Clay drop in their first meeting in 2018
  9. For those people who are going to inevitably get fired up about having Taiwan Jones on the team, please keep in mind that most teams generally do have backup RB's and/or WR's that play special teams. Singletary, Moss, Duke - none of these guys are going to fit that bill. Maybe they evolve to those roles later in their careers, but not today
  10. Al Michaels is a national treasure
  11. Ummmm unfortunately I watched some of those games from last year and at no point did Jake Fromm resemble a competent NFL backup QB Hard pass
  12. It's unlikely that we're bringing back Taiwan Jones, but it feels like we need one of our RB's, either McKissic or (if we keep Moss) to play at least some role on Special Teams
  13. Shaw66, it also goes hand in hand with the positive tradeoffs of being able to re-sign your own draft picks to reasonable deals vs always being in this vicious cycle of never paying up for 2nd contracts but then at the same time over-paying for guys on the free agent market Once we got off that train, we started winning. Consistently too Yes, it helps to have a top QB, but the whole strategy is self-fulfilling and a key to sustained success
  14. We are playing @ Detroit on Thanksgiving Day
  15. People can hate on Mitch Morse all they want, but you really notice what a solid pass-blocking center brings when you don't have one... He is critical to this team's success, especially with continuity with Josh Allen and keeping the interior pocket clean Is he the world's best run-blocker? Not even close. But that's not the most important component here Solid move all around
  16. My god, can you imagine the furor that this board would have had around keeping Steve Tasker around for 12 seasons?
  17. And despite all his flaws, we are still 0-2 facing his teams.
  18. Cole Beasley still has value but he was running on fumes by the end of the year. You can't pay that guy $6M/year when he's not one of your top 2 receivers, and you're in a salary cap crunch. He doesn't play special teams either. Add that to all the controversy and non-football related attention, and this is an easy decision for the team.
  19. It is an albatross when you couple 5X what we're currently paying our RB's plus a significant injury history, plus the fact that running back is the most fungible easily replaceable position in the game. My point when comparing to Brock Osweiler is that you don't give up assets to trade for this guy. In many instances, the team that's looking to trade shouldn't be looking for much in return. But please, keep playing amateur offseason GM and flame away at people who don't agree with the thought of overpaying for the RB position (see McCoy, LeSean for recent examples)
  20. I see this as like the Brock Osweiler pick from a few years ago where the Texans actually GAVE the Browns a pick to get them to take the player and the big bloated contract. I know that's oversimplifying what happened with that trade, but I'm not giving up assets to take on that albatross
  21. This is all well and good in a theoretical context, but we lost 2 games this year largely due to special teams blunders. It's not "nothing" when games continue to be decided by those plays Special teams plays are "plays" just like offense & defense. You want your best guys on the field in those circumstances, and you want them specially trained to perform those specific duties (which in many cases are very different than their normal Off/Def positions and roles)
  22. Bruce Smith & Andre Reed didn't make much of an impact in 1985 either Judging a draft class after 1 year is little more than conjecture and clickbait
  23. Troy Aikman has been mailing it in for about a decade now. He offers next to nothing that the average viewer can't already see for themselves
  24. It sounds funny, but I'd love it if we drafted Ariaza as our new punter, but it's unlikely he makes it into the 7th round with all of the hype he garnered this past season
  25. Holy crap, after 20 years of NEVER re-signing our own players and overpaying for mediocre free agents, this is what we're going to B word about?
