  1. Agree that neither is a reach in sharp contrast to the DEs and OLBs available. That's why we better trade down if we don't go OT (speaking of which, like a lot of you, I watch a bunch of NFL Network this time of year and I could have sworn that Mayock's OT ticker has had Reiff ahed of Kalil a couple of times--think it's back to Kalil again--anyone else catch this???).
  2. I agree with KOKBILLS. If there's no trade down, taking the best OT is the safest route. Then you hope a Curry, Branch, Crick, Johnson or Jones will pan out. I'd personally like to resign Bell (and Stevie) and then trade down, grab Zach Brown with the pick you get in the 1st and then take the best 4-3 DE in the 2nd. Then go BPA--WR, DE (gonna need more than one), OT (depth), CB.
  3. NFL network ticker just indicated Jackson "wants to stay with Chargers" and Michael Lombardi was quoted as saying he was "told by people in San Diego they're going to do everything in their power to sign him, but this is going to be expensive." Think that doesn't bode well for us (or anyone else for that matter). Where there's a will (on both sides) there's a way (to get a deal done)--unless someone makes him an offer he can't refuse and I doubt that will be us (break the bank for Mario!!!).
  4. Finnegan was drafted in the 7th round out of Samford University. Nice drafting, huh? Hope we can build on last year's draft, we might be good in a could of years!!!
  5. Sometimes stats don't tell the whole story but this year Routt allowed 9 TDs and led the league in penalties with 17.
  6. I'd be happy with that. Then with our next picks we could go WR and CB. Reading a lot and checking Youtube (I don't profess to be a pro!!!)--Brian Quick seems like an interesting WR, big body who might fit Buddy's "uncovered when he's covered" criteria. Not sure about CBs (Trumaine Johnson and Josh Norman--small school guys with big school size). Being realistic as to who will be there in the 4th, any thoughts on WR and CB? I think those would be your 4th round picks unless you roll the dice on a "developmental QB" who will probably not develop. Next year we can afford to gamble on a QB. This year we need bodies to play!
  7. Remember, you also have to have patience because it takes time for a franchise QB to develop. In his 4th year in '07, Giants fans were ready to run Eli out of town after he threw 4 ints (3 of them pick 6s) against the Vikes--it was the proverbial straw that broke the fans' backs moment. Check out the comments that followed this article (and let me tell you, these were the nice people--talk radio was vicious):http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giants/eli-manning-throws-interceptions-vikings-pound-giants-41-17-article-1.256847. Wonder what those folks were saying 4 months later and now tonight?
  8. Check out Curry in the '10 Ohio St. game--you can find it on YouTube (posted by "TMBDraft"). Curry looks pretty damn good. There's a play where he comes across the field and takes down the RB. Love the motor. BTW--he looks pretty good rushing the passer too! :-) Would find a space on the team for him if he's there in the 2nd!
  9. Jersey boy too checking in too--although I know it's not a measure of a college coach's success and means nothing at all to most fans, Schiano's teams have always been in the top of the nation with their academic success and graduation rates (something his bashers have always ignored). This past year they were #2 in the nation under the "Academic Progress Rate" and #7 under the "Graduation Success Rate"--#1 for state schools. That's not too shabby when considering he did this while taking one of the nation's worst programs and turning it around (we actually made it to bowl games and won--we're also very well represented in the NFL). Though I'm no expert on coaching, I find it hard to believe that this doesn't mean something. Seems to be a pretty good reflection on the man. We'll miss him. This ruined my day.
  10. Not sure if anyone brought this up but with the 10th pick we'll have a shot at the last "top tier" OT in this draft--either Reiff or Martin. Though neither appears to be a franchise tackle who would garner a big haul, the laws of supply and demand put us in a good spot. Is there a team drafting mid-round or a tad later who might get antsy (that's the key) and trade up? If so, we can still nab either Upshaw or Ingram and pick up another pick. If that happens, do you think we score an extra 2nd or 3rd? Either way, we get a player we need in the 1st and an additional "free" quality player. Let the bashing begin!!!!
