If there is a willing partner, I would trade a lot for Darnold. Lacking that option, I'd go with Allen or Rudolph choosing the one who is better between the ears.

I am happy with him as coach. He is young and hungry. He is the best we have had since Marv or Wade. Yes, he is learning on the job but people who know the NFL all seem to speak highly of him. The two things this team needs is a solid QB and stability in the coaching and management positions. Finding a solid QB is one of the most difficult thing to do in pro sports. Give him time. I believe he will find one. Constant turnover every 3 or 4 years is not going to lead to success. Personally, I think we have to prepare now to be ready for the decline of Brady. As long as Brady is performing well, we will have a tough time succeeding the way the NFL officiates games, regardless of our coach or QB. But someday, in the next few years, he will be injured or we will see his decline and we should be ready then with a solid QB and experienced coach. In the mean time, we shouldn't be firing good coaches just because they don't win the division.

While they are flawless, Chris Brown today on Twitter stated: "The Patriots lead the league in scoring drives in which a penalty gives them an extra 1st down. That 40-yd pass interference led to New England's 28th scoring drive this season." It is hard to not think the refs are favoring them.

A good QB is the most important part of winning. Everything else is a distant second. With smart drafting, they may get both QB & help on defense.

Benjamin played great today. He would have had more impact if our QB would throw it to him and trust him more often. If we go the rookie route, we may need to take one step backwards to get two steps forward in the long run. Rudolph might be there for us without trading away our other picks.

Early this year, I noticed Taylor throw the ball away a few times. I noted it because it felt like an area where his game improved over the off season. Since then though, I don't remember him doing it ever again. He would much rather see what happens when he tries to run. I don't know of any other QB who just refuses to throw it away like him.

I have never seen a QB absolutely refuse to show the ball away like Taylor. He is all too willing to take the sack resulting in long down and distance that kills dives. Taylor had his good moments today, but as soon as we are down 10 points, there is no hope of coming back. I'm sure the defense senses this also. He should be in the prime of his career. At this point, I am resigned to believe that he is what he is - not horrible, but not good enough.

The NFL determines how the game is played by the rules and penalties for violating them. A corner who makes slight early contact with a receiver can get a 30, 40 or 50 yard penalty. A lineman who is holding gets 10 yds penalty. A late hit gets 15 yards. A late hit out of bounds after the whistle blows gets 15 yards and maybe a 1 game suspension, but no ejection. None of this makes any sense and therefore, justice has to happen on the field between the players. Hopefully, they are smart about it. We don't need any suspensions for the Miami game.

This is why I too am hesitant about him. Drafting his is betting on him that he can out it all together and be a consistent steady QB. Although every rookie QB has to do that to some degree. Or, he could end up being a Jay Cutler type player.

Allen has so much potential. With the right coaching, I think he could be great. HIs arm strength is in a different class from anyone else in the draft. He is just very raw and needs developmental time before he sees the field. Whatever team drafts him needs the right coach to develop him. I just wonder if that coach is on the Bills.

I agree with your assessment that we will have no shot at Darold or Rosen. The QB needy teams ahead of us will not want to trade out. I also think McBean will stay away from Mayfield and Jackson for the reasons you say, so its Allen or Rudolph for us. I think they go with the 4 year starter in Rudolph. Allen is the better athlete with a rocket arm but he looks like a lot more of a project QB. He has shown raw potential and thats it in college. Rudolph has a good enough arm with good mechanics and is accurate but his offense looks like a one read and throw system to me. I have no idea if he can read a defense. In the end, I think Rudolph is a McBean type guy that a they take a chance with him.

I think they are targeting Rudolph too. The kid definitely has lots of talent and is a very good prospect. No-one knows how any of them will be at the next level. Id be happy with him. They need to take a shot at some QB in this draft. I think there are fewer unknowns about Rudolph than many of the other prospects.

If today's game were in a dome, it would be just another forgettable game between two forgettable teams. Add in some lake effect snow and we have a game everyone will remember. They will be showing clips of this game for years to come.

That game was beautiful today. What a memorable game. That is why I like football - the sport is not sanitized, weather is a factor. Granted, today was on the extreme end of the spectrum. I don't want every team to be playing in the same corporate sanitized dome. I hope we never have a dome. Likewise, Chicago, Greenbay and Miami should never have domes. Domes are like suburban sprawl - they all look the same everywhere.

I noticed Gronk stutter steps before the hit to get his body lined up to aim his hit. By using his elbow brace as a weapon - I agree that it proves that it is not needed for medical reasons and should not be allowed to be worn. I'm not aware of anyone else in the NFL who wears such a brace. The punishments for intentional, unnecessary roughness are ridiculously minor. 15 yards is nothing for a dirty hit that could have a lasting influence on a game or a career. Suspension penalty should be based upon severity of the injury making it roughly equal to the time missed by the victim of the dirty hit.

There are things I like about Tyrod, but its time to move on... We gave him more opportunity than most other teams would. Hopefully some other QB needy team falls in love with him and chooses him instead of drafting a QB ahead of us.

I can't believe we just won a game most experts predicted us losing and there is 9 pages of bitching about TT. We all know he aint perfect, but he's the best QB we have had since Flutie. Every QB not named Brady or Rogers has their flaws. Most people can't wait to get rid of him, but there is no sure savior coming behind him. Chances are that whatever rookie we draft is just going to be some young guy trying to figure out NFL defenses, throwing picks and losing games. No-one knows anything about evaluating college QBs. So there is no guarantee that whoever we draft will lead us to the playoffs. Yeah, we should probably draft a QB to look for improvement at that position, but that doesn't mean we should run TT out of town. TT is good enough to get us to the playoffs. If we can end the drought this year, I would be thrilled.

I hope they spend their top picks on QB and O line talent. Everything else is secondary to that. Competition for the top QBs will be crazy. At least half will end up failing but we need to take a shot at one and give him the best possible O line to help him & the offense succeed.

Virgil, 1st I want to say thanks for your dedication to always write up your game thoughts. It's not always an enjoyable thing to do with this team. Now for #1 - This debacle confirms my thoughts that QB evaluation is the biggest mystery in all of pro sports. NOBODY in the NFL can predict how a QB will succeed or fail. Not Bellicheck, not Elway, not anybody. The only certainty is that if you don't have one, you need one and you need a good one to succeed in this game. Petermans fate isn't over. I hope he continues to develop.

Virgil - thanks for your thoughtful game summaries. I don't write much here but am an avid reader and I always look for your response after the game. I also usually agree with most of your thoughts. Hopefully TP, KP & DW can figure out a way to raise the Bills above mediocrity.

Congrats to Kathryn. I hope she has a long and successful career with the the Bills. I trust Rex's judgement that she is qualified and motivated to succeed in her new position. I feel allot better about this than Rex hiring his brother. I'm proud of the Bills for giving her an opportunity. Hopefully she does well for the Bills and opens other opportunities for women in the NFL.

Very nice game by Tyrod. I'm glad it wasn't wasted by a loss. In postgame Rex mentioned that he had been very good in practice this week with the ball only hitting the ground once on Wednesday. He definitely has something worth keeping. Now he needs time and development and we might end up with our long sought after answer.

I think the Bills need to be up by at least 10 with 2 min left in the game for them to win. I fully expect the androgynous Pats to get the refs calls at the end of the game, including phantom calls as needed to help NE win. Win or lose, I'm sure we will be talking about highly questionable or phantom calls after this game. I hope we just kick a-- so it doesn't matter.
