Trumps actions in office are a dream scenario for Putin. He couldn’t expect anything better as Trump turns America towards an alliance with Russia over our traditional western allies. What is amazing to watch is how the rest of the Republicans along with MAGA have become obedient sheep and seem just fine with abandoning our NATO allies and other democracies in the world. The vets from WWII, who are nearly all gone must be rolling in their graves. It’s to the point now where he is either an agent for Putin or he is doing a very good job of acting like one who is.

So this story is going to come down to who you believe. The cult will obviously believe the honesty of their master. Any person with a brain that hasn’t been melted will be at least skeptical of Trump. Unelected Musk is moving into the role of President. In the end, the billionaire class is not concerned about what is good or right for America. These are the people Trump has surrounded himself with. If things go to hell here, they can move to and choose to live wherever they want to. Their alliances are where their financial interests are. Musk isn’t even a natural American so why would anyone trust him?

Could be. That is the popular speculation. But I don’t think he cares about paying for the tax cut. In his first term, he had no problem ballooning the federal deficit. He doesn’t care about paying the bills for his actions. The idiot had no problems running his businesses into bankruptcy multiple times. There will be no consequences to him if he does his tax cut without paying for it. Watching other millionaires and billionaires squirm is much more fun for him.

Interesting points in this thread. AI may be replacing some jobs. Others could be the Musk idiot chainsaw method. At some point agencies do less with less. NOAA provides an incredible amount of important data used by all sectors of society. Farmers, wild land fire fighters, airlines, mariners, states and local communities, scientists, etc. all depend on weather data. All the data and forecasts allow everyone to do their jobs more efficiently. Republicans probably want to replace some of NOAAs fuctions with private sector, pay for the data if you want it.
