Here are a few I found enlightening.

Over the years, decades, I haven’t really understood the complexities of the Palestinian- Israel conflict. I recently watched several YouTube documentaries on the history of the West Bank. My only reaction was shock and disbelief. The Israli government policy of supporting the settlements and regulating, through military force, every aspect of Palestinian lives there is crazy. The Jewish settlers see nothing wrong with expanding the settlements. If, like me, you were ignorant about this issue, educate yourself. Unfortunately, I don’t see how this conflict will ever be resolved.

Biden address from the White House. 10/19

Maybe little Jared can send some of the billions the Saudis gave him over to Israel to help the war against the terrorists. -
My point was that anyone who has a gun needs to have a perfect, clear, rational mind at all times or tragedy can occur. Accidental shootings happen all the time due to careless gun owners who are not responsible, or make mental mistakes. People aren’t perfect and sadly innocent people suffer. Baldwin should be guilty of involuntary manslaughter. He fired the gun. The gun didn’t fire by itself. He knew the real gun was on the movie grounds. He knew real ammunition was on the movie grounds. He was the director with the most knowledge and experience. He chose to hire a completely inexperienced armorer girl to be in charge of the firearms. He was irresponsible in his handling of the gun. A real gun with real ammo should never have been on the movie grounds in the first place.

From 2014-2020, UN agencies spent nearly $4.5 billion in Gaza, including $600 million in 2020 alone. More than 80% of that funding is channeled through the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, who make up three-fourths of Gaza’s population. Some 280,000 children in Gaza attend schools run by UNRWA, which also provides health services and food aid. — Qatar has provided $1.3 billion in aid to Gaza since 2012 for construction, health services and agriculture. That includes $360 million pledged in January for 2021 and another $500 million pledged for reconstruction after the war in May. Qatar’s aid also goes to needy families and to help pay Hamas government salaries. — The Palestinian Authority says it will spend $1.7 billion on Gaza this year, (2021) mainly on salaries for tens of thousands of civil servants who stopped working when Hamas took over in 2007. https://www.timesofisrael.com/where-do-the-billions-of-dollars-in-foreign-aid-to-gaza-really-go/ So Hamas relies on funding from the good will of other countries to take care of their own people. Israel provides them with water and electricity. Then they literally attack the hand that feeds them. I would think the people in Gaza would support getting rid of Hamas based on their performance as a ruling party.

Anyone professor who thinks terrorism is exhilarating needs to be relieved of their employment. You have the freedom of speech in this country. You don’t have the freedom of consequences when you act like a moron. He should move over to Gaza if he wants to support Hamas.

NY Giants @ Buffalo Bills - SNF 1st half game thread

It forces the D to honor the possibility of a run with play action pass. Less predictable for pass rushers -
If the Iron Beam works, it would be a game changer. It has a range of about 4 miles, could be mounted on drones or satellites, could rapidly fire at incoming misses at speed of light to take out multiple targets and costs only a few bucks per shot. It’s like something from a science fiction movie but could become a reality.

The media repeatedly reports that Gaza Strip is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Population density there is about 8,000 people per square km. That doesn’t rank in the top 50 most densely populated cities which have densities ranging from 17,261 to 42,942 people per square km. So yes, obviously alot of people live there but there is nothing special about its population density compared to other cities.

Interesting that no other Arab nations are volunteering a peace plan or help for Palestinian refugees.

The inconsistency of the offense for this team is maddening. This loss is collectively on the offense. The D more than did their part given the dire circumstances they were dealt. Teams like Philly, SanFran and KC don’t drop a game like this one. They just take care of business and move on. We will be second tier until we can avoid these types of losses. Dorsey and Allen better figure it out because the O is going to need to carry this team moving forward.

The season is a war of attrition for every team. Who can make it healthy in the end, in addition to the luck and talent factors into the equation of who can win it all.

Change of plans. Biden is building a wall.
Andy1 replied to Tommy Callahan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The immigration system is a mess owned by both parties. For many people who want to sponsor their family relatives to come here legally, there is a 10 or 20 year long wait process. Meanwhile, the people walking across the border are getting court dates 7 years into the future. Then we also have hundreds of thousands of adults who were brought here as children who have no legal status. What a mess! If it was truly an important issue, I believe both parties would find a way to compromise. Instead, we get broken disfunctional government, no compromise on either side but we all sure like to scream about it. Since the politicians don’t really care enough about it to solve it, I don’t get excited about it. It is what it is…. -

Personally, I think Biden should propose a plan for comprehensive immigration reform, including border security and aide to states. Lead on the issue. Failure to do that and he will be saddled with owning the problem. It will be an issue that will only get worse between now and election. -

There is plenty of irony here for sure. The whole immigration system is broken and needs reform. This is the one issue where I think it might swing independents to vote for trump. -

I saw this too. I don’t understand why Biden has failed to articulate any sort of immigration policy. I guess this is his attempt to at least do something. The southern states bussing of the migrants to Dem states is turning public opinion polls on this issue forcing Biden to do something. -
Stupid quote with no relevance to the topic unless you are arguing that Ben was advocating for the liberty of buying cheap cigarettes and being able to motor down the road without seatbelts. So it appears you are supporting the position that people are safer if they are free of the tyranny of the state and are not required to wear helmets or seat belts and have easier access to smoking. I’ve also heard that warming up your car in the garage without opening the door is a good idea.

Interesting article. The Republican controlled government there wants to ensure that Ohioans have access to cheap cigarettes, can ride in vehicles without wearing seatbelts and if you are over 18 you can feel the wind blow through your hair on a motorcycle. This analysis doesn’t even consider factors like infant care or impacts of gun laws. It’s no wonder that 20% of the residents will die before 65. This isn’t brain surgery. Seatbelts, helmets and cigarettes are the basics of saving lives. It baffles me to think that people get in vehicles without strapping on the seatbelt. Republicans don’t care about public health except when it comes to controlling women and girls health care.

"Suckers and Losers"---Trump on our GI's
Andy1 replied to Tiberius's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So you’re talking about Dem policies like lowering the cost of prescription meds? Like providing health insurance for people? How about investing in infrastructure in America? what policies do Republicans offer to help the poor or working class? All they want to offer is tax cuts for the wealthy, guns for all, bibles in the schools and nationwide restrictions on women’s and girls health care. -
"Suckers and Losers"---Trump on our GI's
Andy1 replied to Tiberius's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Trump is a fundamentally flawed person. He is incapable of experiencing understanding or empathy for others. He judges people based upon their appearances, wealth, power or ability to help him. If they are attractive, he may associate with them. If they are not attractive, he doesn’t want to be seen with them as they are worthless to him, except as a source of funding or votes. For him winners are the attractive wealthy people, losers are the unattractive, disabled, sick, wounded, poor people. He only likes winners. MAGA should look in the mirror. -
